    Pharmacist-Kakamega

    Overall Responsibility

    • The pharmacist is responsible for providing professional pharmaceutical services and overseeing the day-to-day management of the facility pharmacy. The role ensures the safe, effective, and rational use of medicines through dispensing, inventory management, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, clinical pharmacy support, and leadership of pharmacy operations to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide professional pharmaceutical services, including prescription review, dispensing, patient counseling, and medication therapy management.
    • Oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy to ensure efficient, safe, and uninterrupted service delivery.
    • Plan, procure, receive, store, and manage pharmaceutical products and medical consumables to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize expiries and stock-outs.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, professional standards, licensing requirements, and hospital policies.
    • Manage controlled medicines and ensure proper documentation, storage, accountability, and reporting.
    • Supervise, mentor, and coordinate the performance of pharmacy personnel to promote high standards of service delivery.
    • Collaborate with clinicians to promote rational prescribing, medication safety, antimicrobial stewardship, and optimal patient care.
    • Monitor, investigate, and report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and other medication-related incidents while implementing corrective actions.
    • Develop and implement pharmacy quality improvement initiatives, standard operating procedures, and risk management measures.
    • Prepare pharmacy reports, monitor key performance indicators, and provide regular updates on pharmacy operations, stock status, and regulatory compliance.
    • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning for pharmaceutical products and services.
    • Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of pharmacy equipment and information systems.
    • Participate in clinical audits, continuous medical education, continuous professional development, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
    • Promote excellent customer service and uphold the organization\'s values, ethical standards, and patient-centered care principles.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by management.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
    • Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board with a valid practicing license.
    • Minimum of two years post-registration experience in a hospital pharmacy, with demonstrated experience managing pharmacy operations. 
    • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role will be an added advantage.
    • Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, pharmaceutical care, and medication safety.
    • Sound understanding of pharmacy operations, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.
    • High level of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in hospital information systems and computerized pharmacy management systems.

    Clinical Officer-Anaesthetist

    Overall Responsibility

    • To provide safe, effective, and evidence-based anaesthesia services by assessing patients, administering anaesthesia, monitoring patients throughout surgical procedures, and supporting post-operative recovery in accordance with clinical protocols and professional standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct pre-anaesthetic assessments and prepare patients for surgical procedures.
    • Administer general, regional, and local anaesthesia as appropriate within the scope of practice.
    • Continuously monitor patients before, during, and after anaesthesia, ensuring prompt intervention where necessary.
    • Operate and monitor anaesthesia machines, ventilators, and other related equipment.
    • Assist in airway management, resuscitation, and emergency life support during surgical procedures.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of anaesthetic procedures and patient records.
    • Maintain infection prevention and patient safety standards within the operating theatre.

    Job Qualifications & Skills 

    • Degree or Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery
    • Higher Diploma Clinical Medicine & Surgery (Anaesthesia)
    • Registered and licensed by the Clinical Officers Council with a valid practicing license.
    • Current certification in Basic Life Support & Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
    • At least two years\' experience in administering anaesthesia within a busy hospital setting.
    • Strong knowledge of anaesthetic techniques, airway management, patient monitoring, and emergency response.
    • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

    Critical Care Nurse

    Overall Responsibility

    • To provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients by delivering continuous assessment, advanced patient monitoring, life-support interventions, and evidence-based nursing care while ensuring patient safety and quality clinical outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in ICU/HDU.
    • Monitor patients\' vital signs and promptly respond to changes in clinical condition.
    • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and blood products safely and accurately.
    • Operate and monitor critical care equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps.
    • Assist in emergency procedures, resuscitation, and advanced life support interventions.

    Job Qualifications & Skills 

    • Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized institution.
    • Higher Diploma in Critical Care Nursing.
    • Registered nurse with a valid Nursing Council of Kenya practicing license.
    • Valid BLS and ACLS certification;
    • At least two years\' experience in the ICU, HDU, emergency department, or a similar critical care setting.
    • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills

    Pharmaceutical Technologist

    Overall Responsibility

    • To support the pharmacist in the accurate and efficient dispensing of medications, ensuring patients receive the correct drugs at the right dose, while maintaining proper pharmaceutical records, stock controls, and compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Accurately dispense prescription and over-the-counter medicines to patients.
    • Provide correct dosage instructions and educate patients on the safe use of medicines.
    • Counsel patients on possible side effects, drug interactions, and storage of medicines.
    • Ensure rational drug use in line with treatment guidelines.
    • Receive, verify, and record incoming pharmaceutical supplies.
