    Machine Handling Equipment(MHE) Operator

    The Operator may fulfill multiple roles in the Distribution Center environment Inbound and/or Outbound inventory accurately, timely, and safely. The Operator is responsible for operating equipment as part of the distribution process within a fast-paced warehouse setting. The Operator will utilize equipment while performing tasks to include receiving, unloading, scanning, moving, staging, loading, locating, relocating, and stacking product.

    Responsibilities

    • Reads work instructions to determine items to be moved, gathered, and/or distributed
    • Pulls and prepares product for shipment, in an efficient manner, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded
    • Sorts and places materials or items on pallets, racks or designated areas according to predetermined pallet positions
    • Loads, unloads, moves, stacks and stages products using a forklift, hand clump, reach truck or other power equipment
    • Maintains equipment by keeping it clean and safe, reporting service requests as needed
    • Assists in maintaining the safety of the warehouse by conducting operations in a manner which promotes safety
    • Weighing and/or counting items received and/or dispatched from warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards
    • Assists with physical inventories and cycle counts, ensuring proper stock rotation
    • Assists in distribution center/warehouse clean-up as required

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 1-year recent experience in a warehouse environment
    • Previous experience operating a Reach truck and/or Forklift
    • Certified Forklift operation licence
    • OHS training
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
    • Ability to follow safety regulations while operating equipment
    • Ability to learn proper operations of warehouse equipment
    • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel) including basic data entry

    Mechanical Technician

    In line with Twiga Foods purpose and the significant role played by the Warehouse (Supply Chain), the Mechanical Technician installs, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical systems. The role holder is also responsible for monitoring and record keeping for utilities e.g. LPG and water. The role holder works closely with the Maintenance Engineer to ensure equipment availability and reliability, timely procurement of spare parts and building services maintenance.

    Responsibilities

    • Carry out routine inspection, repairs, and preventive maintenance of all machines and equipment (crate washing machine, extender belts, racking, and material handling equipment i.e. reach trucks, forklifts, hand pallet trucks, pallet lifts) to ensure they are in good working condition. 
    • Disassembling and assembling of all the mechanical components (gears, transmission belts, bearings, pumps) of machines and equipment for repair and maintenance 
    • Carry out checks, repairs and preventive maintenance for building services (plumbing, ventilation, sewerage) 
    • Carry out lubrication, cleaning, and tightening of all machines and equipment 
    • Read and interpret drawings to understand the assembly and functionality of machines and equipment 
    • Train machine operators on safe handling of equipment and monitor conformance to the set-out machine operation guidelines 
    • Monitor and maintain records on the utilities’ usage 
    • Proper usage, maintenance and record-keeping of tools 
    • Provide coverage for the boiler technician 
    • Observe the set Health, Safety, and Environment guidelines (PPE, LOTO) during repair and maintenance of machine

    Requirements

    • Minimum Diploma in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
    • Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing/ factory set up
    • Basic Computer Skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

    Boiler Technician

    The role holder is also responsible for management of resources relating to the boiler i.e. fuel and water to ensure cost efficient operation. The role holder works closely with the Maintenance Engineer to ensure equipment availability and reliability and timely procurement of consumables.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervise all aspects of boiler operations during assigned shift and effectively provide direction to downstream machine operators.
    • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to the steam generator. 
    • Conduct safety inspection of boiler and steam safety relief valves 
    • Supervise the statutory inspection of the boiler and instrument calibration to ensure compliance to legal and organizational requirements  
    • Monitoring boiler energy usage (steam and diesel). 
    • Co-ordinate boiler water/steam analysis and chemical usage 
    • Ensure reliable operational records are maintained and recorded for historical purposes and to document performance metrics for the plant.  
    • Assist in building services maintenance (plumbing, ventilation) 
    • Ensure conformance with quality, environmental, food and safety requirements commensurate with executing required instrument maintenance or replacement activities 
    • Observe the set Health, Safety, and Environment guidelines (PPE, LOTO) during repair and maintenance of machines 

    Requirements

    • Minimum Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
    • Certificate in Boiler Proficiency
    • Minimum 2 years experience in Boiler Operations
    • Basic Computer Skills (Excel and Word)

    Electrical Technician

    The role holder is also responsible for monitoring resources relating to electrical equipment e.g. power consumption and generator fuel levels. The role holder works closely with the Maintenance Engineer to ensure equipment availability and reliability and timely procurement of spare parts.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for PPM and Reactive Maintenance of Electrical Plant and systems.
    • Conduct electrical safety inspections, internal and statutory, as per organizational and legal requirements.
    • Carry out electrical installation work as authorized by the electrical engineer 
    • Maintain records of maintenance and repair work; prepare reports, documentation, and correspondence 
    • Reviews operator’s manuals and other established guidelines; ensures equipment and information systems are operated in accordance with established guidelines 
    • Monitor electrical plant and equipment including the gensets to ensure optimal operation and reduction of unplanned downtime 
    • Troubleshooting, installation and repair of electrical equipment, feeders, branch circuits, motors, VFDs, PLCs, SCADA systems, RTUs, relays, alarms, control system and lighting.
    • Read and analyse electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and/or diagrams  
    • Ensure conformance with quality, environmental, food and safety requirements commensurate with executing required instrument maintenance or replacement activities 
    • Observe the set Health, Safety, and Environment guidelines (PPE, LOTO) during repair and maintenance of machines

    Requirements 

    • Minimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering
    • Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing/ factory set up
    • Must have experience working with PLCs and SCADA systems
    • ERC Electrician Licence is an added advantage
    • Basic Computer Skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

    Scales Technician

    The role holder is also responsible for internal and statutory calibration of weighing scales. The role holder works closely with the Maintenance Engineer to ensure weighing scale availability and reliability and timely procurement of spare parts.

    Responsibilities 

    • Carry out daily accuracy tests, repair and calibration of DC weighing scales.
    • Carry out repair, accuracy tests and issuance of Production and Sourcing scales.
    • Read and analyse electronic schematics, blueprints, and/or diagrams  
    • Supervise statutory calibration of weighing scales to ensure compliance to legal and organizational requirements 
    • Quarterly training of Production and Sourcing Teams on handling and operation of scales. 
    • Quarterly calibration of scales at Sourcing to ensure conformance with internal quality assurance requirements.
    • Monitor and maintain records on weighing scale calibration and issuance.
    • Observe the set Health, Safety, and Environment guidelines (PPE, LOTO) during repair and maintenance of machines 

    Requirements

    • Diploma (Electronics Engineering or equivalent)
    • Minimum 2 years experience in weighing scale maintenance
    • Basic Computer Skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

    Key Responsibilities

    • Research and identify new business opportunities for general trade vendors/outlets within the defined region.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Trade Development Team Lead - Sales

    The purpose of this position is to lead the designated area sales team by establishing strong relationships with market stakeholders and to facilitate growth in the share of our clients’ stock size of FFV and FMCG, devise sampling and testing procedures, and implement outcomes-based on evidenced data.  

    Responsibilities: 

    • Team leadership and coaching: coach and help develop team members acquire and consistently demonstrate the Twiga Way of Working.
    • Hold at least 4 coaching visits per week with team members.  Cover the team within a three-week cycle.  
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and sales management to ensure team members have tools and facilitation to execute their routines as seamlessly and effortlessly as possible. Facilitate problem solving and collaboration
    • Drive outlet recruitment and retention of existing customers through development and growth of long term customer relationships
    • Influence and drive product diversification and growth in profitability per customer.

    Requirements:

    • More than three years of experience as a sales team lead, preferably in the FMCG industry
    • Experience in e-commerce, digital marketing, distribution, retail, and FMCG organizations preferred
    • Bachelor of Commerce Degree or equivalent

    Key Performance Indicators:

    • High performing sales team: each team members visit 40 productive outlets per day as per journey plan, maintains coverage of 240 outlets per route, has a quality of conversation with vendor/vendor survey, enhances the visibility and presentation of the outlet, and realizes growth in assortment variety and drop size.
    • Minimum of 4 documented coaching sessions per week.
    • Acquisition of new profitable customers and retention of existing customers in line with the set targets.
    • Consistent growth in product diversification and gross profit per customer to achieve and maintain set targets.
    • Customer satisfaction scores (net promoter score, customer satisfaction index, SLA adherence) maintained at approved levels.
    • Credit management: non-performing loans contained within set limits.
    • Reporting and insight generation.
