    Bird Scout Trainee (21 Vacancies)

    Job Purpose
    The job holder will be responsible for the control of birds and other wildlife species within and around the airports and airstrips.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Maintaining surveillance of wildlife activity in the airports, airstrips and the surrounding environment;
    • Scaring away birds / wildlife within the airport premises;
    • Carrying out airfield inspection and surveillance, identifying and deterring potential wildlife hazards;

    Security Warden Trainee – (87 Vacancies)

    Job Purpose:

    • The job holder will be required to implement security measures to meet the required standards and recommended practices.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Screening passengers and luggages through X- Ray , walk through , hand held metal detector and physical security checks to ensure no un authorized items and persons pass through for security reasons;
    • Controlling passengers and other airport user’s access to the airside, restricted and controlled areas to determine whether they have been authorized through use of security pass and travel documents;

    Key Qualifications and Experience

    Apron Controller Trainee – (30 Vacancies)

    Job Purpose

    • The job holder will be responsible for regulating entry/exit and ground repositioning of aircraft on the apron through radio telephony for orderly movement of air traffic.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Marshalling aircraft into/out of aircraft bay/aircraft parking space for success of arrival and departure activities of the flight turnaround schedules;
    • Inspecting the bay to ensure it is free of FODs for the safety of aircraft, passengers, ground crew and ground support equipment and appliances;
    • Operating Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS);
    • Operating lead service vehicle (Follow Me Car);
    • Guiding flight into and out of allocated bay safely;
    • Controlling of ground flight movements using International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standard and recommended practices;
    • Operating passenger boarding bridges for safe embarking and disembarking of passengers;
    • Uploading air traffic movement into the Airport Operations Data Base (AODB)/ Daily Aircraft Movement Records (DAMR);
    • Enforcing of airside operations safe standard rules and regulations;
    • Enforcing airside safety by ensuring that safety regulations, IATA and ICAO and other internationally recognized standards are adhered to all the time;
    • Inspecting the Apron for any hazards, Oil spillage, Foreign Object Debris (FODs) to ensure safety of the passengers, aircraft, vehicles, equipment and people on the airside;
    • Collecting and recording data to show the number of aircraft handled as well for management decision-making;
    • Docking and retracting the air bridges for embarking and disembarking passengers to ensure passenger safety;
    • Marshalling and monitoring aircraft movement into and out of the apron through aeronautical radio telephony communication;
    • Filling in the daily aircraft records for the billing, parking and air bridge charges;
    • Reporting of any incidents / accidents on the ramp for further action;
    • Overseeing the refueling of aircraft at the airside to ensure they comply with safety requirements; and
    • Directing the safe movement of passengers, vehicles, equipment and airport operators at the airside.

    Key Qualifications and Experience

    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Grade C or equivalent
    • Basic Training in Airside Safety Operations
    • Working experience in Ground Flight Safety is an added advantage

    • Admitted to the Roll as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
    • Certified Public Secretary, Kenya (CPSK) or its equivalent;

    • Developing and Reviewing Marketing and Business development strategies plans, policies and procedures in line with the Strategic Plan. These include:

    • Identify remedial actions to address shortfalls in financial performance in liaison with departmental heads by identifying revenue enhancement and cost efficiency opportunities;

    Manager Airport Operations (S8) (2 Vacancies)

    • Coordinating aviation operations including aircraft accident/incident, security, and other emergency situations that occur on airport property;

    Manager Birds and Wildlife Control (S7)

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Carrying out both scheduled and unscheduled wildlife risk assessments in accordance to relevant ICAO and Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) in aviation and use the information to develop and review wildlife hazard management plans;
    • Carrying out research for understanding wildlife changing / emerging trends and management technologies that are used for implementable and manageable effective innovative airport wildlife control technique;
    • Developing and maintaining databases, analysing data and synthesizing the information from all airports for organization’s management decision making;

    • Providing guidance regarding the creation of aviation wildlife control related policies and legislation;
    • Advising management on bio-physical management to ensure strategic management of the environment in order to control bird and wildlife presence in the airports;
    • Liaising with all government departments, aviation wildlife/safety committees and other organizations which impact on the presence of birds/ wildlife in and around the airports to ensure their involvement in the effective airports wildlife control strategies; and
    • Working with safety manager and other bodies/ departments on compliance with international and national safety and environmental standards on birds/ wildlife hazards.

    Key Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelors degree in Ornithology / Wildlife Management / Environment / Flight Safety / animal science or related field or equivalent qualification
    • Statistical and Geographical Information System (GIS) training
    • Instructor training in aviation wildlife control will be an added advantage
    • At least 8 years of experience with at least 3 years of managerial/supervisory experience.

    • The Corporation Secretary and General Manager positions shall be for a three (3) year contract term renewable subject to satisfactory performance or attainment of mandatory retirement age whichever happens earlier.
