    AG and Sports Coordinator

    • The AG and Sports Coordinator coordinates all sports activities within the School by promoting a vibrant and dynamic extra-curricular program. The AG and Sports Coordinator also facilitates communication of extra-curricular activities and recreation issues between learners and the School Management. Overall, your responsibility is to promote extra-curricular activities as an important activity to be involved in and to promote the overall AG program to learners at the school, alongside adhering to allocated supervision duties as required from time to time.
    • Departmental Management
    • Assist in planning, scheduling, and implementing extracurricular and sports programs across the school.
    • Ensure adequate resourcing of all extracurricular areas and maintain accurate records of equipment and resources.
    • Schedule regular departmental meetings with extracurricular teachers and coaches to review progress, address challenges, and enhance program quality.
    • Program Planning, Coordination, and Implementation
    • Manage and oversee extracurricular programs and activities across the school year.
    • Participate in setting departmental goals, directions, and policies for the successful implementation of extracurricular and sports events.
    • Align extracurricular programs with school values and policies.
    • Plan and organize school-wide sporting events (e.g., football, swimming) ensuring each activity is effectively managed and coached.
    • Coordinate inter-school competitions and major school functions related to extracurricular activities.
    • Support in organizing bi-annual extracurricular programs for learners and ensure the effective functioning of all activities.
    • Cordinate the reparation termly and annual reports on extracurricular and recreational activities, including recommendations for future development.
    • Safety, Compliance, and Quality Assurance
    • Ensure all extracurricular activities are conducted safely and in compliance with school and national safety standards.
    • Promote a culture of safety awareness among employees and learners during all extracurricular and sports events.
    • Learners Engagement and Development
    • Develop positive relationships with learners to encourage active participation in extracurricular programs.
    • Guide learners on appropriate conduct, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
    • Seek learners feedback on extracurricular activities and share insights with the line manager for continuous improvement.
    • Liaise with coaches in organizing school teams and mentor learners participating in internal and external competitions.
    • Communication, Public Relations, and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Publish sporting results and updates through notice boards, newsletters, and the school website.
    • Communicate relevant extracurricular information to learners, employees and the broader school community.
    • Coordinate and liaise with internal and external coaches, partners, and sports associations.
    • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local sports clubs, associations, and community organizations.
    • Meet regularly with the Head of Extracurricular to review extracurricular progress and discuss program development.

    Qualifications, skills and expectations:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Physical Education or a related discipline.
    • Postgraduate qualification or certification in sports management, coaching, or event coordination is an added advantage.
    • 5 years of relevant experience in organizing and managing extracurricular and sports programs, preferably within a school environment.
    • Excellent organizational and planning abilities, capable of coordinating multiple activities and events simultaneously.
    • High level of initiative, creativity, and enthusiasm in designing engaging extracurricular and sports programs.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other digital scheduling or coordination tools.
    • Sound understanding of child safeguarding, health and safety standards, and risk management in school sports environments.
    • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, with a professional, approachable, and learner-centered attitude.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings when school events require.

    Lifeguard

    • The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of learners, employees, parents and visitors using the school swimming pool by maintaining constant supervision, preventing accidents, and responding effectively to emergencies. The role involves enforcing pool safety rules, monitoring water quality, supporting swimming lessons and school events, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Pool Supervision and Safety
    • Monitor all pool activities to ensure the safety of swimmers at all times.
    • Enforce pool rules and regulations consistently and professionally.
    • Maintain constant surveillance of swimmers and immediately respond to distress, accidents, or emergencies.
    • Administer first aid, CPR, or emergency care as needed.
    • Conduct safety briefings before swimming sessions for learners and staff.
    • Pool Maintenance and Operations
    • Check water quality (pH and chlorine levels) daily and record results.
    • Inspect and report any safety hazards, damaged equipment, or maintenance needs.
    • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the pool area, changing rooms, and storage spaces.
    • Ensure proper use and storage of safety equipment and supplies.
    • Support to Sports and School Programs
    • Assist in the supervision of swimming lessons, PE classes, and extracurricular swimming activities.
    • Provide support during school swimming galas, competitions, and other aquatic events.
    • Collaborate closely with the Extracurricular Department and Health & Safety teams to maintain a safe swimming environment.
    • Health, Safety and Compliance
    • Adhere to all school and national health and safety policies and regulations.
    • Participate in emergency response drills and professional development training.
    • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of incidents, maintenance, and attendance logs.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • While the primary responsibility remains lifeguarding and ensuring the safety of pool users, the lifeguard may, when the pool area is closed or adequately staffed, be requested to assist with general facility maintenance and support tasks such as pool maintenance, cleaning, organizing equipment, assisting with event setup, or supporting the broader sports and facilities team to ensure smooth operations.

    Qualifications, skills and expectations:

    • Secondary school certificate.
    • Valid Lifeguard Certification from a recognized authority (e.g. Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, or equivalent).
    • Mandatory certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a lifeguard, preferably in a school, hotel, or community pool environment.
    • Facility maintenance skills in will be an added advantage.
    • Excellent swimming and rescue abilities are required.
    • Experience working with children in a multicultural setting.
    • Strong sense of responsibility and alertness.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children.
    • Calm and confident under pressure with quick decision-making ability.
    • Physically fit and capable of performing rescues and first aid.
    • Team player with a positive, professional, and respectful attitude.
