    Finance & Operations Officer

    Role Purpose

    • The Finance & Operations Officer will manage the end-to-end financial health of Cedar Africa and provide critical administrative support to the consulting team. Your goal is to ensure 100% compliance, seamless cash flow from our key accounts, and an organised operational environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Management (60%)

    • Accounts Receivable: Manage the billing cycle for key clients; ensure invoices are accurate and sent immediately upon project milestones.
    • Credit Control: Maintain professional relationships with client procurement/finance departments to ensure revenue is collected within credit terms.
    • Bookkeeping & Reporting: Maintain real-time records in QuickBooks. Prepare monthly P&L, Balance Sheet, and a 12-week rolling cash flow forecast.
    • Compliance & Tax: Ensure timely filing of all statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, WHT, Housing Levy).

    Operations & Project Support (30%)

    • Consultant Support: Track project-related expenses and ensure these are re-billed to clients where applicable.
    • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with sub-contractors, office suppliers, insurance brokers, and travel agents.
    • Contract Admin: Maintain a repository of client contracts, NDAs, and project completion certificates.

    Strategic Assistance (10%)

    • Unit Economics: Calculate and monitor profitability of consulting engagements.
    • Audit Readiness: Liaise with the external audit firm for end-of-year filings.
    • Board Reporting: Prepare concise quarterly financial packs for Board review, including commentary on performance, cash position, and key risks.

    Candidate Profile

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
    • Professional Qualification: CPA-K or ACCA (Intermediate or Finalist level).
    • Experience: 3-5 years in a professional services firm (Consulting, Law, or Creative Agency).
    • Tech Savvy: High proficiency in cloud accounting software and Excel.
    • Soft Skills: Diplomatic persistence for following up on payments with large corporate clients
    • Attention to Detail Meticulous approach to financial records, ensuring accuracy across invoices, statutory filings, and reports.
    • Ownership Mentality Takes full accountability for deadlines and deliverables without needing close supervision.
    • Adaptability Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, lean consulting environment where priorities can shift and initiative is rewarded.
    • Stakeholder Management Skilled at building trust with internal teams and external partners including clients, auditor and vendors

    Investment Officer

    What You Will Do

    • As an Investment Officer, you will originate, assess, structure and negotiate debt and equity investments across Eastern and Southern Africa in line with BIO Invest's strategy. You will cover financial institutions, corporates in agriculture and manufacturing, and infrastructure projects including renewable energy and digital infrastructure

    Investment Origination and Execution.

    • Develop a strong pipeline of high-quality investment opportunities through proactive origination, field missions and networks.
    • Lead and coordinate initial investment appraisal including screening, structuring and terms negotiation.
    • Lead term sheet negotiations and coordinate legal documentation processes.
    • Analyze financial statements, business plans and financial models.
    • Draft and present investment cases to internal committees and support approval processes.
    • Collaborate with internal teams across HQ and the region to align on strategy and execution.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, arrangers, development partners, government and embassies.

    Market and Strategy

    • Contribute to pipeline strategy and regional positioning.
    • Represent BIO Invest at industry events and within Belgian development cooperation networks.
    • Provide insights on market trends, sector and macroeconomic developments.
    • Support selected administrative and operational tasks of the Nairobi office.

    Team Contribution

    • Mentor and coach junior staff to build talent and grow the team's skill base.
    • Contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.

    YOUR PROFILE:
    What We Are Looking For

    • Master's degree in Finance, Economics or related field- CFA or CPA accreditation is a plus.
    • 5–6 years of relevant investment experience in emerging markets (DFI, PE, banking or impact investing).
    • Strong track record in originating, structuring, negotiating and executing debt or equity transactions.
    • Deep knowledge of Eastern and Southern African markets with an established regional network.
    • Strong financial modelling, analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple transactions under tight deadlines in a multicultural environment.
    • Genuine passion for development finance, impact investing and private sector development in Africa.
    • Permanent work authorization in Kenya is required.
    • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

    Consulting Engagement Manager

    ROLE PURPOSE

    • The Consulting Engagement Manager is a client-facing role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of high-impact consulting engagements. The role integrates project leadership, commercial stewardship, client relationship management, and team development to drive successful execution of consulting engagements.
    • The ideal candidate brings deep consulting expertise, strong operational discipline, and a demonstrated ability to cultivate trusted client relationships that generate lasting value for both clients and the firm.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Project Delivery & Quality Assurance

    • Lead the end-to-end execution of consulting engagements, ensuring all deliverables meet the firm’s professional standards and client expectations.
    • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, maintaining a consistent focus on high-margin, and on-time delivery.
    • Serve as technical lead on Change Management engagements, including culture transformation initiatives and ERP implementations, providing expert advisory guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

    Client Relationship Management

    • Act as the primary relationship owner for key client stakeholders, building partnerships grounded in trust, transparency, and value delivery.
    • Proactively identify opportunities for account growth, follow-on mandates, and expanded scope within existing client portfolios.
    • Maintain high client satisfaction scores as a measurable driver of repeat business and referral growth.

    Team Leadership & Development

    • Lead, coach, and performance-manage a core team of consultants and external associates, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Conduct structured performance reviews and quality assessments, leveraging internal reporting frameworks to ensure consistent delivery standards.

    Business Growth & Revenue Generation

    • Contribute to the firm’s commercial growth through targeted business development activity, proposal authorship, and client presentations.
    • Oversee the conversion of pipeline opportunities into high-value advisory engagements, managing the pursuit process from qualification to close.
    • Strengthen the firm’s market profile by contributing to thought leadership outputs, including white papers, technical articles, and industry publications.

    PERSON SPECIFICATION

    Education & Professional Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Organisational Development, or a closely related discipline.
    • Prosci® Certified Change Management Practitioner (highly preferred).
    • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification; additional qualifications in coaching, leadership, or organisational development are advantageous.

    Professional Experience

    • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in management consulting, with a demonstrable track record of leading teams and delivering large-scale projects.
    • Proven experience managing client relationships at senior stakeholder level.
    • Background in change management, ERP implementation, or organisational transformation is strongly preferred.

    Consulting Operations & Project Intern

    ROLE OVERVIEW

    • Cedar Africa Group is seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive Consulting Operations & Project Intern to join our team. This role is designed for an emerging professional who wants to understand the inner workings of a professional services firm, gaining hands-on exposure to the administrative and operational functions that drive our consulting and training engagements.
    • The intern will focus on coordination, logistics, data organisation, and ensuring our consultants and facilitators have the resources and support they need to deliver exceptional client outcomes.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Advisory Assignment & Project Support

    • Deliverable Tracking: Maintain project trackers and milestone dashboards for active consulting engagements, ensuring timeline updates are captured accurately and escalated promptly.
    • Research & Data Gathering: Conduct desk research, industry benchmarking, and data gathering to support consulting teams during the diagnostic phases of projects.
    • Workshop & Focus Group Logistics: Coordinate logistics for client stakeholder interviews, focus groups, and co-creation workshops, including scheduling, invitation management, and distribution of pre-read materials.

    CANDIDATE PROFILE & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Human Resources, Organisational Development, or a related field.
    • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint); experience with project management or collaboration tools is an advantage.
    • Attention to Detail: Consistently maintains accuracy, consistency, and high quality across formatting, writing, and information handling tasks.
