Moniepoint Inc. is a leading financial technology company that provides a seamless platform for businesses to accept digital payments, access credit and access simple business management tools that enable them to grow with ease.

    Head of Engineering, Payment Gateway

    About The Role

    • Monnify is Moniepoint's online payment acceptance platform: the gateway layer connecting merchants to card networks, banks and payment aggregators, and the tools that let businesses and developers accept and send money digitally. The division owns transaction reliability, routing and throughput at scale, together with the developer experience that sits on top of it - APIs, SDKs, documentation and ease of integration. Built first for Nigerian businesses and developers, the platform is now scaling internationally and moving towards multi-currency, multi-market support.

The Head of Engineering owns the technical direction and architecture of that platform, ensuring scalability, security and developer experience for both technical and non-technical users. The role involves leading multiple engineering teams through their managers, setting strategic architecture, and ensuring platform reliability, security and scalability across Payment In, Payout, Commerce Tools and developer-facing features. As the Head of Engineering, Payment Gateway, your responsibilities will include:

    • Own the full technical strategy, architecture and roadmap for the Monnify platform across all capability areas.
    • Lead multiple engineering teams through engineering managers, setting quality standards and building organisational capability.
    • Own the developer experience end-to-end, including APIs, documentation, SDKs and integration ease.
    • Drive platform evolution towards multi-currency and international scalability.
    • Ensure platform reliability, scalability and security within a regulated environment.
    • Partner with product, commercial and operations teams to align technical investments with business goals.
    • Hire, mentor and develop engineering managers and senior engineers to support growth.

    Who You Are

    • Over 10 years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles.
    • 5+ years of hands-on, production-level experience writing and shipping Java code as a practising engineer. This means years spent writing Java yourself, not only years spent overseeing teams who write it.
    • At least 5 years of experience managing managers - leading an engineering organisation through other engineering leaders, rather than running a single team.
    • Experience in payments, fintech or financial services products, with a working understanding of payment flows and compliance.
    • Deep knowledge of API-first products, developer platforms and API integration.
    • Proven leadership of multiple engineering teams via managers in a scaling organisation.
    • Strong backend engineering skills in high-throughput, distributed transactional systems.
    • Experience building or operating a payment gateway or multi-currency payment platform is a strong plus.

    Cultural Alignment

As well, we assess every candidate across eight dimensions that define how great leaders operate at Moniepoint. We look for evidence of all eight throughout the process, not just in a single conversation.

    • Customer Obsession: Build deep empathy for users. Solve problems intuitively, and fix root causes, not just tickets.
    • Craft: Master the fundamentals. Reason from first principles, make trade-offs explicit, and raise the bar on quality.
    • Systemisation: Turn repeating decisions into scalable mechanisms. Reduce cognitive load and raise engineering quality.
    • Urgency: Move with disciplined speed. Act autonomously within scope, remove friction, and escalate risks early.
    • Ownership: Treat the platform as your own. Take initiative across boundaries and follow through without reminders.
    • No Ego: Put the mission first. Share credit, welcome debate, and never protect status over team outcomes.
    • Candour: Surface uncomfortable truths and risks early. Intelligent failure is welcome; concealment is not.
    • Integrity: Stay truthful and ethically consistent. Refuse toxic behavior. Performance without integrity is unacceptable.

Head of Engineering, Sales & Marketing Tools

    About The Role

    • Sales and Marketing Tools owns MonieCRM, the operating system for Moniepoint's 50,000-strong sales network. This is not a CRM we bought — it is a workforce operations platform built entirely in-house for a multi-level field sales hierarchy, and it is how those teams run their day to day: the portfolio of businesses they manage, their own teams, their goals and performance, the physical and digital resources they need in the field, and an emerging AI-assisted support layer. Sixteen capabilities span onboarding and network management, pipeline and portfolio, performance and goals, compensation, and sales experience and support.
    • A significant part of the domain moves money. The platform owns wallets, commission calculation and attribution, cashout and welfare funds for a network that drives the overwhelming majority of company revenue — which makes financial correctness, not just availability, a core engineering requirement of the role.
    • Alongside that, the domain covers partner management, a rewards and retention platform serving tens of millions of users, and our marketing technology stack, including the engineering and customisation of Braze, the platform we use for customer engagement. The mandate is modernisation and reliability: re-architecting systems that have grown very quickly and making them dependable at a scale of more than 20 million users. This is a platform engineering and legacy modernisation challenge first and foremost, and prior CRM or SalesTech experience is genuinely not required.

    Who You Are

    • You have 10–15 years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading engineering teams through growth phases.
    • 5+ years of hands-on, production-level experience writing and shipping Java code as a practising engineer. This means years spent writing Java yourself, not years spent overseeing teams who write it.
    • At least 5 years of experience managing managers — leading an engineering organisation through other engineering leaders, rather than running a single team.
    • You have proven platform engineering experience at scale — building and running complex distributed systems, not feature delivery alone.
    • You have navigated legacy migrations and re-architecture projects at 20M+ user scale.
    • You have strong backend engineering skills in high-throughput, data-intensive distributed systems, and are proficient in Java and Spring Boot.
    • You have managed and developed large engineering teams of 20 or more members.
    • Experience building systems where financial correctness matters — commissions, payouts, wallets, ledgers or equivalent — is a strong advantage.
    • A fintech or payments background is strongly preferred. CRM or SalesTech domain experience is nice to have and explicitly not required.
    • Exposure to customer engagement or marketing automation platforms such as Braze is a plus, but not a requirement.

What Success Looks Like In The Role

    • Legacy systems modernised and re-architected, with measurable improvement in reliability and performance.
    • Commissions and earnings calculated, attributed and paid accurately and on time, at network scale.
    • A sales and marketing platform that scales with a rapidly growing agent network across multiple markets.
    • Commercial teams able to move faster because the tooling beneath them is dependable.
    • A high-performing engineering team with a strong bench of managers and senior engineers.

    Why Join Us

    • Own the platform behind the commercial engine of one of Africa's largest digital banks — the system 50,000 people rely on to do their jobs and to get paid.
    • A genuine platform modernisation mandate with the autonomy and backing to see it through.
    • Be part of a mission-driven company impacting millions of businesses and individuals across Africa and beyond.

    Head of Engineering, Supply Chain

    About The Role

    • POS Hardware and Device Platforms owns the software behind the physical side of Moniepoint's business: the systems that track, move, maintain and account for millions of POS terminals in the field. That covers inventory and warehouse management, logistics and distribution, repair and maintenance workflows, and the operational tooling the business runs on day to day. It is a backend and distributed systems challenge at real scale - making operational data about millions of physical devices visible, trustworthy and consistent across every market we operate in. It is not a hardware engineering role.

The Head of Engineering, POS Supply Chain, oversees that software estate and is vital as Moniepoint expands internationally and scales device operations globally. The position involves leading the technical strategy for the domain and managing a large engineering organisation in a remote, distributed environment. As Head of Engineering, Supply Chain, your responsibilities will include:

    • Owning the technical strategy and architecture for inventory and logistics tools and repair management software.
    • Leading an engineering organisation of approximately 25 engineers, including managers, QA, SRE and Data Engineering.
    • Driving platformisation of inventory and supply chain systems so operational data is visible, trustworthy and consistent across millions of terminals.
    • Bridging the gap between operational practice and software systems by building operationally disciplined solutions.
    • Defining architecture standards, engineering processes and quality metrics across squads to ensure reliability and data integrity.
    • Collaborating with business and operational stakeholders to translate operational requirements into engineering solutions.
    • Hiring, mentoring and developing engineering managers and senior engineers to support team growth up to 30+ members.

    Who You Are

    • 10–15 years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading engineering teams through growth phases.
    • 5+ years of hands-on, production-level experience writing and shipping Java code as a practising engineer. This means years spent writing Java yourself, not years spent overseeing teams who write it.
    • At least 5 years of experience managing managers - leading an engineering organisation through other engineering leaders, rather than running a single team.
    • Deep hands-on experience in supply chain, inventory, warehouse or logistics software at scale.
    • Fintech or regulated-industry experience, with an understanding of the operational stakes of device management in a payments environment.
    • Strong backend engineering skills for data-intensive, distributed, operational systems.
    • Proven system design ability at large scale, managing hundreds of thousands of devices or more.
    • Experience managing and developing large engineering teams of 20 or more members.
    • Excellent stakeholder management, translating complex technical concepts for non-technical leaders.
    • A product-minded approach to solving operational problems with engineering solutions.

    Cultural Alignment

As well, we assess every candidate across eight dimensions that define how great leaders operate at Moniepoint. We look for evidence of all eight throughout the process, not just in a single conversation.

    • Candour: Surface uncomfortable truths and risks early. Intelligent failure is welcome; concealment is not.
    • Integrity: Stay truthful and ethically consistent. Refuse toxic behavior. Performance without integrity is unacceptable.

What Success Looks Like In The Role

    • Scalable inventory and logistics systems delivered, supporting millions of devices across multiple countries.
    • A high-performing, motivated engineering team aligned with company growth.
    • Operational data visibility and trust established across multiple global markets.
    • Robust architecture standards enabling reliability and data integrity.
    • Effective collaboration with business and operational teams to meet rapid expansion needs.

    What we can offer you

    • Lead engineering for one of Africa's largest POS networks and directly influence our global expansion.
