    Portfolio Director, REAP for Government

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, international development, or another relevant field (Masters is an added advantage)
    • At least seven (7) years of progressive experience in participatory program design, development, implementation, and budgeting of complex development programs required; including at least 3 years in a senior program/project management position.
    • Extensive expertise in poverty graduation models, scaling through government, social protection, and adapted livelihoods, required;
    • Sector experience or exposure to programming in climate crises, nutrition, social protection, gender norms, health and targeting vulnerable populations (ultra-poor women, IDPs, refugees, youth, people living with disabilities);
    • Experience developing relationships with government partners and NGOs, providing technical assistance and oversight to external teams to deliver programming;
    • Experience managing a consortium of partners including government (both at national and county level), NGOs, private sector, grassroot organizations and government.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of relevant government policies on social protection, economic inclusion, gender, climate change, nutrition, and the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda;
    • A proven track record in new business development with experience supporting project design, proposal development and fundraising efforts;
    • Experience in curricula development, training, and facilitation preferred;
    • Successful experience managing teams or individuals including mentoring, capacity building of staff in good project design and management tools to support excellent program execution;
    • Exceptional public speaking and written English communication skills, including communication to partners, government and clients via written products and presentations;
    • Creative problem solver, with proven ability to take the initiative in finding solutions to complex challenges;
    • Proactive leader, with ability to effectively manage competing work streams and deadlines;
    • Detail-oriented director with good organization and prioritization skills;
    • Willingness to travel up to 35%, sometimes on short notice; and
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

    Research & Learning Coordinator – USAID Nawiri

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    Research & Impact

    • Support the implementation of the REAP for Nutrition research and learning Plan in alignment with the overall USAID Nawiri research and learning priorities.
    • Conduct qualitative and quantitative program impact surveys and assessments to capture the impacts, lessons learned and best practices of the program.
    • Collaborate with M&E to ensure the completion of baseline, midline, and endline surveys
    • Leverage informational sources and innovative and well-established research methods including observations, desk reviews, assessments, surveys, and reports to drive learning and adaptive management.
    • Oversee research and learning related data collection activities, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and ethical standards are maintained.
    • Documentation of critical research protocols, procedures, processes, for reference.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, using appropriate statistical and analytical tools.

    Collaboration, Learning, and Adaptation (CLA) (With support of the Research and Learning Manager, and in collaboration with the USAID Nawiri CLA team and REAP for Nutrition Program Manager.)

    • Coordinate the implementation of the REAP for Nutrition research and learning plan in alignment with the overall USAID Nawiri Research and learning priorities.
    • Actively support internal and external learning processes, including activity implementation (and events) debriefing, identifying, and analysing lessons learned from technical activities.
    • Lead the collection, analysis, and synthesis of context information across the REAP for Nutrition implementation areas in collaboration with program and M&E field staff.
    • Document key findings, learning and update the research and learning agenda.
    • Inform the Implementation of learning and adaptive management approaches and interventions in REAP for Nutrition.
    • Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to a culture of adaptive learning within USAID Nawiri and with BOMA

    Research Communication, Reporting and Dissemination

    • Drafting draft research reports and soliciting and incorporating input from review team members within BOMA and the USAID Nawiri consortium.
    • Contribute to development of research and learning briefs and/or other accessible summaries of studies.
    • Coordinate the preparation of REAP for Nutrition case studies and best practices.
    • Actively support USAID Nawiri preparation and implementation of learning events, forums, platforms, conferences, and workshops.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent in statistics, Research Methods, monitoring and evaluation, development economics, international development, sociology, or similar. Masters degree is an added advantage.
    • A minimum of three years’ experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning
    • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research techniques and tools such as SPSS, STATA, R (Quantitative) and NVivo, MAXQDA(Qualitative).
    • Ability to sort analysis through extensive qualitative and quantitative data and craft hypotheses.
    • Familiarity with collaborative learning and adaptation approaches.
    • Strong computer skills and high proficiency in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
    • Strong communication, presentation and report writing skills, and good spoken and written English and Kiswahili.
    • Ability to draft preliminary reports from analysis of findings and lessons learned
    • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, highly collaborative and adaptable consortium environment.
    • Experience in Agri-Nutrition projects is desired.
