    Deputy Laboratory Manager

    Qualifications

    For appointment to this post, a candidate must have;

    • Bachelor’s Degree / Higher Diploma / Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board;
    • Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)
    • Five – Seven (5 -7) years’ progressive working experience in Management Position
    • Demonstrated management ability in a Laboratory setting.
    • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assists the Lab Manager to source, manage, motivate and train laboratory staff to ensure that operational objectives are achieved.
    • Assists the Lab Manager in the implementation of service levels and quality standards in accordance with the principles of Good Laboratory Practice, SANAS accreditation requirements, standard operating procedures, turn-around time targets and service level agreements with clients, to ensure that the laboratory is constantly able to deliver a high quality, cost effective and safe service.
    • Manages the correct application of quality assurance processes and standard operating procedures in the absence of the lab Manager to ensure corrective actions are taken as required.
    • Assists the Lab Manager in accreditation of the laboratory, including preparation for audits, maintenance of current status, document updates and scope of approved tests, to ensure that accreditation is achieved or obtained in line with organizational objectives.
    • Assists the Lab Manager to monitor the maintenance and calibration of the equipment used in the laboratory to ensure that it is operating efficiently and providing accurate results. This includes ensuring that instrument maintenance and quality control results are recorded as well as trouble shooting.
    • Provides input into evaluation and validations of new equipment and methods to ensure standardization and continuous technological advancement.
    • Assists the Lab Manager on asset management and procurement of goods to ensure the most effective utilization of resources, optimization of stock levels and cost containment.
    • Assists the Lab Manager in generation of management reports as required to monitor work and performance status of the laboratory and takes corrective action when required.
    • In the absence of the Lab Manager he/she performs investigations into and resolve customer complaints to ensure a positive image of the organization by clients and patients and to promote the services of Lancet laboratories.
    • In the absence of the Lab Manager he/she monitors in-service training, seminars and participation in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to ensure that laboratory staff continuously update their knowledge and skills as well as comply with professional registration requirements. This includes ensuring the availability of up to date records that can be presented immediately on request thereof.
    •  Assists in teaching and training of laboratory personnel, interns and students, medical colleagues and associated health workers to ensure that they are competent in various laboratory techniques, processes and systems.
    • Calls for lab meetings in the absence of the lab manager
    • Adheres to professional conduct requirements in line with organizational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards and monitors compliance of own employees in this regard.
    • Performs the role of a medical technologist as required in accordance with operational needs.

    Client Relations Officer

    Decisions and Judgments

    The post holder works within a highly regulated environment which is characterised by clear work instructions and standard operating procedures.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science Degree
    • Experience working in a Laboratory setting
    • Has at least 1-2 years Customer Experience
    • Strong working knowledge of office suites in computer applications

    Summary of Key Responsibilities

    DOCTORS’ HOSPITALS LIAISON

    • Liaise with doctors and Facilities to assist with queries, complaints and following up on patients results with relevant departments to ensure that doctor receives results.
    • Liaise with clients regarding test information, customer complaints and compliments to ensure that customers receive correct and adequate information and where necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.
    • Liaise with Lancet staff to respond to client queries.
    • Logging tasks for doctors’ orders where applicable (consumables, request forms etc.).
    • Route and redirect calls to appropriate resources to ensure that customers are assisted promptly by relevant parties.
    • Assist with collecting of samples from clients and doctors’ rooms and delivery of results where necessary.

    MARKETING INTELLIGENCE

    • Review clients trend analysis (to avert any loss of business due to internal mitigatable occurrences)
    • Gathering and Dissemination of competitors information. (Business strategy, top clients branding materials offers and incentives to their clients)
    • Identify and escalate priority issues on the competitors market share. (New setups, mushrooming labs etc.)

    SELLING AND PROMOTING LANCET BRAND

    • Marketing and selling Lancet services to existing and prospective customers to grow revenue.
    • Represents Lancet in public relations events such as conferences, CME days to promote services of the organization.
    • Constantly selling lancet services to new and existing client to maintain loyalty and client sat faction (doctors, administrators, directors, hospital managers, lab managers)
    • Compile and submit reports to the Marketing Manager and/or as directed by Management.

    Laboratory Technologist

    QUALIFICATIONS

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Performs diagnostic testing procedure on instrumentation, analyses result in one or more sections of laboratory and interacts with Pathologists on technical matters to provide all relevant data that may pertain to the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of diseases.
    • Records, verifies and amend (when required) test results to ensure integrity of test results database on laboratory information system.
    • Reports test results via phone or computer entry to ensure timeous dissemination of data required by health and medical professionals.
    • Ensures that maintenance and calibration of the equipment used in the laboratory is well conducted efficient and accurate results. This includes ensuring that instrument maintenance and Quality control results are recorded as well as trouble shooting.
    • Ensures a safe working environment in accordance with relevant legislation and all safety protocols. This includes the on-going maintenance of Quality control standards, adherence to infection control measures, correct disposal of bio-hazardous waste and project management of the preparation process for internal and external quality control audits
    • Ensure that incidents and instrument failures are properly reported to the laboratory Manager thereby ensuring compliance with relevant organizational policy and Laboratory standard operating procedures.
    • Attends in-service training and seminars, participates in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to continuously update knowledge and skills as well as comply with professional registration requirements. This includes ensuring the availability of up to date records that can be presented immediately on request thereof.
    • Adheres to professional conduct requirements in line with organizational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards. e.g. ensuring that QA standard requirements are met.

    Marketing and Digital Services Officer

    Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or any other business related fields
    • Diploma or Degree in Graphic design will be an added advantage
    • 5 years’ experience in a digital marketing or advertising position.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Digital

    • Contributes to planning and development of the digital marketing strategy as part of  Pathologists  Lancet Kenya  marketing strategy
    • Custodian of all social media handles
    • Custodian of the social media policy and ensure that members of the organization adhere to it by having bi annual training and sensitization
    • Together with immediate manager role holder is responsible for planning and controlling the digital marketing budget and spending by allocation budgets to different channels
    • Develops and maintains Lancet’s social media presence across all platforms and keeps them updated
    • Reviewing and optimizing the design and content of all online assets including the company website and social media page
    • Actively designs activities that would increase the organizations online presence across all platforms as per the targets that are set out
    • Measuring & reporting on the performance of the all-digital campaigns as well as various analytics
    • Provide weekly reports to line manager to ensure progress is evaluated and tracked
    • Scans the digital environment to identify trends, insights and best practice and use this insight to secure downloads and improve customer engagement
    • Ensures the website is regularly updated
    • Liaise with website developer to implement changes to the website, ensure back-ups plus continuous enhancements and maintenance
    • Actively maintains customer relations through online customer engagement by answering queries, dealing with online customer complaints and compliments and sharing relevant information to the concerned department through email and sms
    • Participates in crisis management as a result of negative online publicity, by flagging any -ve feedback or misinformation to senior management for deliberation, direction and action
    • Support business units in lead acquisition through digital campaigns to ensure that leads convert into sales.

    • Develop, plan and execute internal communication campaigns

    Marketing

    • Ensure brand image is maintained across all sites
    • Ensure the brand guideline are maintain in the organization
    • Plan and publicize organizations activities with the aim of building brand image 
    • Collaborate with agencies and other vendors to implement the company marketing strategy
    • Gathering specific needs from organizations laboratory sites in relation to branding and marketing materials.
    • Client liaison and maintaining a positive image of the organization to ensure retention and growth of customers.
    • Lead desktop publisher on behalf of the company and acts as intermediary between company and any external publishers for company material.
    • Acts as a back-up to the printing coordination for assistance

    Content creation & distribution

    • Comes up with original and creative marketing materials by developing concepts, graphics designs and layouts that aid in promoting brand visibility. e.g. Banners, brochures front office communication etc.
    • Plays a role in ensuring that new tests and products have the necessary content and marketing materials and that these are distributed to the Client Relation Officers
