    Research Associate, School of Nursing and Midwifery

    Job Summary

    To coordinate and undertake research activities within AKU-SONAM with oversight from the Dean. To implement the day-to-day tasks related to research and Assist in supervising research assistants and field staff in data collection, entry and other duties related to the assigned research studies.

    Responsibilities

    • Timely implementation of research activities (Implementation plans, data collection, entry, analysis, and report writing), with support from research assistants and field staff.
    • Provide administrative and logistical support to research teams
    • Identify and assist in development of response to fund raising opportunities that contribute to development of program and study intervention proposals
    • Provide technical assistance on research methodology to junior researchers and program staff
    • Assist in data analysis reporting and dissemination activities
    • Ensure proper financial management and accountability for activities as per allocated budgets
    • Assist in developing outputs on research related activities such as articles, abstracts, and manuscripts
    • Engage with various stakeholders to encourage shared learning and contribute to evidence utilization
    • Maintain internal communication on technical and procedural matters with the Dean/ Study PI and responsible for ensuring that issues emerging during project implementation are directed to the relevant persons in a timely manner

    Requirements

    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or a related field from a reputable University
    • High proficiency in computer programs, especially Data analysis and Microsoft Office applications
    • Demonstrable experience in leading research work and related fields of knowledge management.
    • Excellent skills in collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of complex data sets.
    • Experience in working with research institutions.
    • Sharp analytical, organizational and documentation skills.
    • Keen attention to detail.

    Stock Controller/ Senior Assistant, Outreach Administration

    Job Purpose

    To stock and supply inventory items required by Outreach centers, patients and departments.  Accurate capture of cost and quantity of items dispatched to AKUH, N Outreach Centers.

    Responsibilities:

    • In charge of AKUH, N Outreach centers’ requests, picking, posting and dispatching from PSCMD main warehouse.
    • Service material requests from all outreach centres
    • Ensure accurate and timely issuing of items.
    • Ensure accurate, timely and complete posting and updating of transactions in the system.
    • Stack Items safely and neatly i.e. identifiable and traceable.
    • Ensure that there are no stock outs by pre-empting the purchaser on items that are running low on stocks.
    • Recommend optimum quantities of items to be replenished.
    • Assist in maintaining minimum stock days.
    • Any other duties that may be assigned. 

    Qualifications and skills required:

    • Business related Diploma or Certification, preferably in Purchasing and Supply Chain, from a recognized institution
    • Current membership to Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) or Chartered Institute of Logistics (CILT) or Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) will be an added advantage.
    • At least two years’ work experience in a related field/work environment
    • Ability to work in team
    • Excellent customer service skills and customer focus
    • Ability to lift heavy boxes, climb and bend
    • Knowledge of warehousing/stocking
    • Must be of honest and with high Integrity

    Warehouse Associate/Officer, Outreach Administration

    Job Purpose

    To effectively and efficiently manage inventory required and dispatched to AKUH, N Outreach locations to ensure continuity of supplies by closely monitoring of stock movement and stock levels and by also appropriately planning staff working schedules to achieve departmental and institutional goals and objectives.

    Responsibilities

    Administration

    • Oversee team operations, manage, plan and monitor attendance and duty rota efficiency.
    • Assist end users to get alternative products for items that are out of stock.
    • Ensure timely submission of invoices received at theatre satellites.
    • Attending theatres user committee meetings and follow through closure of supply chain agenda issues.

    Coordination

    • Support relevant user departments with quotations of new product requests and work with purchasing dept. to ensure on-time delivery of items requested by end users.
    • Co-ordinate with the main warehouse to ensure timely deliveries to the sub stores.
    • Co-ordinate deliveries from the main warehouse to various sub stores within the Hospital.

    Financial Management  

    • Ensure Optimum stock levels across the Hospital satellites locations; Minimal stock variances; monitor stock to ensure no expiries.
    • Monitor and identify obsolete items and subsequently facilitate return to supplier as well as sharing with end user the slow-moving non-stock items for consumption.

    Quality Control

    • Confirm order requests from various sub stores, verify medical surgical items billed to patients, verify direct delivery items billed to patients and monitor Stock Issue and charges.

    Reporting

    • Maintain up to date accurate records for purposes generating weekly, monthly and ad hoc reports as may be required.

    Qualifications and skills required:

    • Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain Management from a recognized institution
    • Current membership to Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) or Chartered Institute of Logistics (CILT) or Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM)
    • 4 years’ work experience in the field of supply chain management
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications
    • Basic knowledge of Inventory Control systems
    • Business letters & report writing skills
    • Leadership skills
    • Excellent customer service skills and customer focus
    • Ability to work in a team and independently.
    • Interpersonal & Communication skills
    • Attention to detail.
    • Good organization and administrative skill
    • Must be of honest and with high Integrity
