    Researchers- Human Development

    Responsibilities (dependent on level appointed):

    • Provide leadership to scientific research team or project in an area related to education and/or youth empowerment;  
    • Contribute to policy engagement and the theme’s strategic planning;
    • Lead and contribute to proposal development and fundraising for research projects in the theme;
    • Mentor young researchers, and facilitate in the Center’s training programs as needed;
    • Secure and manage the necessary human, financial and material resources in the theme, project or program;
    • Represent the Center at high level national, regional and international forums, including relevant technical working groups and expert committees;
    • Contribute to institutional publications including and not limited to lay dissemination materials such as policy/research briefs and fact sheets; and
    • Oversee data quality and analyses.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • PhD in literacy and/or numeracy related studies, mathematics education, teaching and teacher education, economics with a demonstrated focus on education, test and measurement, teaching methods, curriculum and instruction, education technology, higher education, youth and community studies or any other related discipline.
    • Experience working in a research institution, conducting education and/or youth related research, leading research programs or managing research projects.
    • Experience with conducting impact evaluations of education interventions or implementing early learning interventions or developing early learning measurement tools (Eg. EGRA/EGMA will be an added advantage.
    • Must be fluent in English; being multilingual (English and French) will be an added advantage.
    • Excellent scientific writing skills.
    • Good quantitative or qualitative skills; experience with mixed methods will be an added advantage provided one is very strong in quantitative or qualitative methods.
    • Strong proposal writing skills and track record of winning research grants.

    Successful candidates may be appointed at Postdoctoral level (0-2 years after PhD), Associate Research Scientist (3-5 years after PhD), Research Scientist (6-11 years after PhD) or Senior Research Scientist (12+ years after PhD) levels depending on experience and track record. These positions are classified under Internationally Recruited Positions (IRP), Grades III to VI in our scales.

    Quantity Surveyor - Planner

    JOB SUMMARY

    The ideal candidate will take on the role of QS/Planner, responsible for managing a team of three on-the-ground Surveyors. The primary duties include reporting on measurements, documenting completed work, and preparing comprehensive reports in adherence to project specifications for Interim Payment Certificate (IPC) submissions. Additionally, the candidate will play a crucial role in forecasting production times from collected data, providing timely updates to the head office, and offering valuable insights for the planning of future work.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Surveying and Measurement:

    • Utilize RTK and Autocad for precise surveying and measurement operations.
    • Oversee and manage a team of three on-the-ground Surveyors.
    • Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of measurements and survey data.

    Reporting and Documentation:

    • Prepare detailed reports on measurements and completed work.
    • Collaborate with the team to compile comprehensive reports for IPC submissions.
    • Ensure that all reports meet project specifications and consultant requirements.

    Team Management:

    • Provide guidance and supervision to the on-the-ground Surveyors.
    • Conduct regular performance assessments and training sessions for the team.
    • Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment within the surveying team.

    Production Time Forecasting:

    • Analyze collected data to forecast production times for ongoing and upcoming projects.
    • Communicate timelines and progress updates to the head office.
    • Advise on planning strategies for optimizing future work schedules.

    EDUCATION QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS

    • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with expertise in RTK and Autocad.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
    • Proficiency in interpreting survey data and translating it into actionable plans.
    • Ability to forecast production times and advise on project planning.
    • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.

    Quality Controller

    JOB SUMMARY

    The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of materials and material compositions, along with comprehensive knowledge of specifications related to Civil Works. The primary responsibilities of this role include receiving and dispatching materials, ensuring compliance with all necessary paperwork, and coordinating materials testing in labs, including the preparation of required documentation for IPC submission.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Material Handling:

    • Receive and dispatch all materials to the construction site.
    • Ensure that all materials are accompanied by the necessary documentation and paperwork.
    • Conduct thorough inspections of incoming and outgoing materials to verify compliance with specifications.

    Quality Assurance:

    • Collaborate with  project teams to understand quality requirements and standards.
    • Implement quality control measures throughout the materials handling process.
    • Identify and report any deviations from specifications and work with relevant teams to address issues promptly.

    Testing Coordination:

    • Transport materials to designated test labs for quality testing.
    • Work closely with testing labs to ensure accurate and timely completion of material tests.
    • Compile and organize test results and documentation for IPC (Interim Payment Certificate) submission.

    Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all materials received, dispatched, and tested.
    • Prepare comprehensive files and documentation for quality control reports.
    • Ensure that all documentation meets regulatory and internal standards. 

    Communication and Collaboration:

    • Communicate effectively with suppliers, project managers, and testing laboratories.
    • Collaborate with various teams to address quality-related concerns and implement corrective actions.

    EDUCATION QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
    • Proven experience in quality control within the Civil Works sector.
    • In-depth knowledge of materials, their compositions, and specifications.
    • Familiarity with testing procedures and laboratory protocols.
    • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and compliance.
