    Senior Manager – IOT & ICT Presales, Architecture & Integration

    Brief description

    Reporting to Head of Department - Technology Enterprise Services, the position holder will be responsible for executing the IOT / ICT Operating Model to position Safaricom to be a technology company by 2025, build the winning team in IOT / ICT delivery in the region and Scaling IOT & ICT presales engagement, architecture and integration of  Solutions and Services to provide defined customer outcomes while providing a superior customer experience.

    He/she will also be responsible for building a reliable, dependable, market leading advisory centre on matters IOT/ICT for Enterprise Customers, managing critical relationships with key internal stakeholders and external partnerships in delivering to the enterprise customer.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Define & aligning Safaricom long term Enterprise Architecture transformation Strategy to support business strategy
    • Oversee building business plans, strategic direction, and standards for procedures and policies as they relate to Safaricom Systems architecture
    • Align the current and future architecture Standards to industry standards and frameworks while keeping alignment to Vodafone Group architecture guidelines.

    Senior Manager, Group Reporting

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Director- Group Financial Controller, the position holder will manage the financial reporting requirements of the Group including consolidations, statutory reporting, and management of the interim and annual audit process

    To ensure that the group processes, compiles and reports the monthly, interim and annual financial accounts and results to management and the Group on a timely basis and in compliance with company procedures and the accounting policies set by the Group and in the formats prescribed.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes, and implement process changes consistent with best practices
    • Ensure full compliance with the Group accounting policy across all legal entities
    • Develop, manage, and execute plans for implementation of new or updated accounting and reporting pronouncements
    • Oversight of the periodic statutory financial reporting preparation, including disclosures for all Group entities
    • Advise on the selection and adaption of relevant accounting policies and estimates
    • Review of Group consolidations at various levels for statutory reporting purposes
    • Manage the period close to ensure group reporting is smooth and there is nil post close adjustments.
    • Planning and communicating the monthly, Interim and year-end reporting cycle ensuring reporting and filing targets are set and met on a timely manner
    • Management of the group's financial reporting requirements to investors on a half-yearly and annual basis
    • Maintain good working relationships with key investor Finance personnel to ensure requirements are understood and timelines are adhered to
    • Management of the all audit process, including coordination with the audit teams (internal and external), managing deliverables and responding to queries
    • Ensure implementation of the company processes & procedures in the preparation of the accounting information while incorporating the International Financial Accounting Standards
    • Supervise and deliver the monthly preparation of the monthly group Trial Balance, General ledger and subsidiary ledgers accounts for the timely reporting of the Group Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash flow.
    • Coordinate group submissions and certifications on a regular basis as per group, Vodafone and Vodacom requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with all IFRS and IAS guidelines in local and group reporting including coordination of adoption of new IFRS and other accounting standards and interpretation thereof for proper accounting.
    • Support the business units in products ideation development and implementation ensuring correct reporting of revenues and costs is achieved at all times.
    • Monitor and Ensure cost center statements are prepared by the 2nd working day of the following month and any explanations or adjustments required are processed before WD3 of the month for accurate group reporting
    • Monitor and ensure the preparation of the overheads and trend analysis to explain the monthly movements.
    • Collate and report weekly through trend analysis for all cost lines including the cost drivers to ensure any unusual movements from month to month with insightful explanations to ensure accuracy of monthly reporting

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Qualified Accountant with CPA (K)/ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent with an Honors degree from a recognized university;
    • 6-8 years accounting experience in an international company or senior manager experience in the big four audit firms
    • At least 4 years management experience
    • Preparation of statutory accounts for over a period of at least 3 years and hands on experience in Group consolidation

    Group Treasurer

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Director- Group Financial Controller, the position holder will lead and provide strategic oversight on the development, implementation, and execution of corporate treasury policies. To implement Treasury strategy that optimizes Funding, Investment and management of FX flows across the Group. To ensure a robust system of identification and proactive management of Treasury related risks.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure production of high quality commercially driven forecasts and plans for treasury
    • Negotiate funding arrangements including corporate credit facilities and public and private financing arrangements, and minimize total cost of funds
    • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with banks
    • Identify opportunities in the banks for investment of excess cash on short or long term and negotiate for optimal yields rates from the market
    • Advise business units in the implementation, execution and analysis of corporate treasury policies
    •  Present complex treasury issues to senior management and gain support for proposals
    • Provide support, advice, and guidance to personnel within the treasury function and deliver effectively in line with the policies, processes, and procedures
    • Apply corporate finance and funding techniques to complex transactions

    • Evaluate and recommend optimal capital structure for operating subsidiaries

    • Report variances and explain them between forecast and actual cash flow to measure level of forecasting accuracy.
    • Manage the performance of staff in the section, define performance indicators, assign tasks, and define goals and objectives for the staff

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • An Honors degree from a recognized university;

    Engineer – Fixed Delivery Assurance

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Manager - Fixed Delivery Assurance, the position holder will be responsible for estate access acquisition for:

    • Estate access acquisition for coverage
    • Vendor and partner management
    • Financial management: budgeting, sourcing, procurement, payments, capitalization and the required respective tracking.
    • Coordination, Quality Assurance and SLA (Service Level Agreement) compliance, performance management of all fixed Technology partners and vendors.
    • Management of all contracts on the Fixed technical domain.

    • Operational health and safety within the fixed management
    • Fixed Assets and inventory management including warehousing

    Key Responsibilities

    • Acquire property entry access for fixed coverage both FTTH and FWA.
    • Key liaison role between operations teams, the vendor and all the relevant stakeholders.
    • Assist with the setup of the fixed technology support contracts relevant to the various systems and solutions in the fixed space.
    • Help define and formulate key contract deliverables as well as KPI’s and SLA’s to be measured during the life of the support contracts.
    • Generate and manage on a monthly basis all penalties and service credit situations for non-adherence by the vendors or for support offered past SLAs.
    • Coordination and follow up with Supply Chain and Legal on contract formulation, approvals and sign-offs.
    • Support all contract transition activities including joint acceptance of the various hubs, sites, buildings and customer premise links.
    • Prepare justification documents for renewal or purchase of services when contract is due for expiry.
    • Initiation and drafting of the technical scope or requirements of new outsourced services contracts.
    • Continuously monitor and evaluate performance of all fixed technical vendors and partners for preventive as well as corrective/reactive maintenance activities against set KPIs and SLA whilst maintaining a weekly record and carrying out an analysis of the same.
    • Participate in regular Quality Assurance and Performance Audits of all service providers in all regions over all technologies and solutions.
    • Document and agree with service provider on ways to improve service quality and availability.
    • Identify key performance improvement requirements and timescales for delivery through continuous operational stakeholder meetings.
    • Ensure the service providers comply with Root Cause Analysis requirements on faults as required with consistent trending to identify and monitor repeat fault trends then work with the vendor to reduce and eliminate where possible.
    • Coordinate between all suppliers, key stakeholders and Safaricom operational teams when actions are required to improve and sustain performance.
    • Coordinate implementation of Improvement Plan for actions documented by the support partners.
    • Setting up, managing, documenting(reporting) and tracking regular quarterly or annual review meetings with suppliers, contractors, key stakeholders and the user teams to ensure smooth partnership.
    • Establish governance process for managing support services including governance review meetings to address contractual issues.
    • Coordinate monthly CAPEX/NOPEX per vendor spent reporting to finance and liaising with operations team to justify any deviation from set targets.
    • Prepare annual forecast figures as may be required by Budget Team for both CAPEX and NOPEX spend.
    • Ensure the vendor is compliant with relevant Safaricom Health & Safety regulations

    Qualifications

    • Degree in any Technical field e.g. Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science, etc
    • 2 years and above working experience in a technical role in operations and customer experience.
    • ITIL and Project Management certifications will be an added advantage
    • Previous experience with partner management, procurement and budgeting is an added advantage

    Principle Engineer-Core Network Support (Fixed Data Services)

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Senior Manager - Core Network Support, the position holders responsibility shall include but is not limited to operation, maintenance, optimization, automation, transformation and implementation of fixed internet services within the Mobile Core, Enterprise Core and FTTx domains.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for Design, Operation and optimization of fixed services in the mobile core, enterprise core and FTTx networks.
    • Design and optimize predictive maintenance practices and resolving service issues for enterprise and FTTx customers.
    • Act as the SPOC to the fixed tribe to offer expertise in the testing and implementation of fixed services.
    • Translate business requirements into technical solutions in the enterprise and FTTx space;
    • Design policies that apply and improve service delivery.
    • Design and implement proactive maintenance schedule, predictive monitoring of systems and services.
    • Ensuring fixed network resiliency and availability by performing and documenting disaster recovery tests;
    • Design and implement automation to realise faster MTTR and reduction of manual routine tasks.
    • Working closely with IP, Core Planning and Support teams on new core enterprise and  FTTx deployments

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience:

    • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication Engineering, IT or related field;
    • Work Experience of 4 years with specialized role in a fast-paced telecommunications/ISP environment –Involved in installations, commissioning and maintenance;
    • Technical professional certifications in IP networks, Unix system administration and cloud infrastructure will be an added advantage
    • In-depth understanding of IP dynamic routing protocols in Cisco and/or Huawei IP infrastructure.
    • Strong scripting skills in bash and python programming.

    Engineer – Radio Access Network Support

    Brief Description 

    Reporting to the Team Manager  - Access Network Support, the position holder will be responsible for providing long term solutions and support to Radio Access systems faults and problems, providing second line maintenance support & solving problems escalated from first line maintenance, interfacing with the suppliers of the radio equipment and following up to resolution on escalated faults, performing radio systems upgrades and major network configuration changes and developing tools for quick troubleshooting and corrective maintenance processes. The engineer will be on call 24 hours daily.

    • Handle second line fault escalations and maintain high network availability.
    • Escalate to vendors persistent network issues and follow up to resolution.
    • Manage software upgrades to resolve issues and implement new features.
    • Capacity upgrade for all RAN elements and to support regional optimization teams to achieve Network Quality KPIs within set timelines.
    • Acceptance of access Network design plans implemented in the regions for all access project rollouts.
    • Radio systems quality assurance.
    • All regional RAN Controller installations completed & accepted within set timelines.
    • Ensure RAN controller availability and performance is within set KPI’s.
    • Handle all access configuration projects.
    • Maintain access configuration database.
    • Post configuration changes trouble shooting.
    • Support regional optimization, maintenance and other business teams to deliver the set targets.
    • Develop efficient configuration process through automation.

    Qualifications;

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or a telecommunications biased discipline.
    • At least 5 years work experience in Access Network environment.
    • Ability and enthusiasm to keep up with new technology developments.
    • Good understanding of 2G, 3G & 4G network technologies.

    Technical Product Owner (TPO)- Enterprise Billing Automation

    Brief Description

    Reporting to Tech Lead Revenue MGT and Financial Reporting, the position holder will be responsible for leading delivery in the Enterprise billing automation squad within BSS tribe, leading the engineers in the Squad supporting the Enterprise billing squad, work with the cross-functional team in the squad to define the squad priorities, roadmap, delivery and quarterly benefit reviews and coordinate knowledge sharing among the team members ensuring initiatives are rolled out with the right quality. The Tech Lead will also steer developing the skills of all team members in the squad.

    Reporting to the Chapter Lead – Integrated Media The role holder will be responsible for be responsible for delivering integrated media strategy and plans on initiatives that deliver to business objectives for various units across the organization with a higher inclination to digital media in-line with our strategic positioning of becoming a purpose led technology company by 2025

    Responsibilities

    • Will work with internal business units and agency teams towards development of integrated media strategy, media plans and channel selection depending on the objective of the campaign to ensure a high return on investment for each campaign.
    • Will be responsible for consolidated digital media effectiveness and efficiency KPI’s set out towards delivery of mission objectives and targets
    • Will be responsible for budget management including: assistance in allocation of monthly budgets, and financial reconciliation on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
    • Responsible for identifying, seeking approval, incubation and implementation of Marketing technologies that will drive effectiveness in digital media

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Must have technical / professional qualifications:

    • A bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and or digital related courses.
    • Related Skills certification online or offline e.g. Facebook Blueprint
    • Marketing professional certification - will be an added advantage
    • Should have more than 5 years continuous experience in integrated Media management with an inclination to digital media
    • Proficiency in creating media strategy, media plans and channel selection depending on the objective of the campaign to ensure a high return on investment for each campaign.
    • Should have a proven track record in media planning, buying & optimization for similar size or larger business than Safaricom
    • Should be a consistent performer who delivers to daily, weekly and monthly digital marketing KPI’s
