    Non Motor Underwriting Manager

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Implement corrective actions to address any underperforming areas

    Leadership and Management:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of underwriters to achieve departmental goals.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

    Underwriting and Risk Assessment:

    • Oversee the underwriting process for non-motor insurance products, ensuring thorough risk assessment and accurate pricing.
    • Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and best practices.
    • Approve complex and high-value insurance applications.

    Strategy and Planning:

    • Develop and execute underwriting strategies to achieve business objectives.
    • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
    • Collaborate with other departments to develop new insurance products and services.

    Compliance and Quality Control:

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain high underwriting quality.
    • Address and resolve any underwriting issues or disputes.

    Customer and Stakeholder Relations:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and other stakeholders.
    • Provide expert advice and support to sales teams and clients.
    • Represent the company at industry events and meetings.

    Financial Performance:

    • Monitor and analyze underwriting performance and profitability.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on underwriting metrics and financial results.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in any stream.
    • ACII or Diploma in insurance is a must.
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in non-motor underwriting, with a focus on non-motor lines.
    • Proven leadership and team management skills.
    • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of non-motor underwriting principles, risk assessment, and insurance regulations.
    • Proficiency in non-motor underwriting software and tools.

    Assistant Manager: Human Resource

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Support, implement and administer the effective and timely recruitment processes in the hiring, developing and retaining the best talents available to support the strategic human resources needs of the company.
    • Ensure organization staffing is optimized at all time in line with production targets and service levels.
    • Onboard joining staff in line with HR policy and best practice.
    • Set up working methodology for succession planning analysis, implementation and monitoring of talent needs to actualize the corporate strategy.
    • Develop the recruitment and selection process to include: Appointment /Confirmation and Separation.
    • Formulate effective Performance Appraisal policy and procedures and ensure its compliance.
    • Coordinate and supervise the management and maintenance of staff contracts, personnel files and other employee information.
    • Assist managers with the mid-year and end of year performance evaluation process.
    • Partner with finance to ensure accurate payroll processing and statutory compliance on monthly basis.
    • Provide timely and accurate guidance to managers regarding employment relation issues.
    • Ensure timely, equitable, transparent and systematic administration of all HR benefits, entitlements, contracts renewal and termination, performance management, promotions and other HR activities.
    • Ensure all staff insurances are in place and are periodically updated including additions, deletions and renewals.
    • Provide ongoing strategy guidance, interpretation, and support to management in all areas of HR management.
    • Be a role model by promoting management excellence in the office by ensuring a high level of professionalism at all times in all areas of HR.
    • Effectively manage the human resources lifecycle of the company.
    • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations.
    • Ensure full compliance with the labour laws and align to best practice.
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

    Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

    • Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field.
    • Diploma in Human Resources Management.
    • Full member and of good standing of the Institute of the Human Resource Management (IHRM)
    • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a busy Human Resource department.
    • Demonstratable Practical knowledge of labour laws.
    • Strong attention to detail with a good knowledge of business administration.
    • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
    • Good practical experience in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
    • High degree of emotional intelligence, integrity, trust and dependability.
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of team
