    Locum Phlebotomist, Phlebotomy Department

    Job Summary

    • The Phlebotomist will attend to patients at the reception and inpatient areas, collect samples, accession them in Lab Information System, register and bleed donors in the donor unit.

    Responsibilities

    • Collect blood samples from both in-patients and out-patients.
    • Perform coagulation screening for causes of bleeding disorders.
    • Receive clients and collect blood at the main laboratory from time to time.
    • Ensuring that correct test entries are made and correct tests are charged to the patients.
    • Ensure that appropriate samples are received with relevant details both on specimen bottles and request forms.
    • Attend to patients queries at reception area.
    • Distribute samples to respective sections in the system.
    • Attend to blood donors in the blood donor unit and bleed them whenever necessary.
    • Decontamination of work benches in the phlebotomy working area.
    • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
    • Participate in continuous medical education.

    Requirements

    • Certificate in Phlebotomy from a recognized institution/college.
    • A minimum of 2 years’ working experience as a physiotherapist.
    • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and commendable customer service skills.
    • Proactive team player.

    Research Pharmaceutical Technologist, Haematology/Oncology

     Job Summary

    • The successful candidate will ensure proper handling, preparation and dispensing of investigational medicinal product and standard of care drugs in accordance with established policies and procedures.

     Responsibilities

    • Review all CRU research related studies for pharmacy impact;
    • Create pharmacy portion of research study budgets;
    • Liaise with the Chief Pharmacist on research trial implications;
    • Manage clinical investigational drug inventory;
    • Create and maintain research pharmacy binder;
    • Prepare, dispense and distribute intravenous investigational medicinal products and standard of care drugs as required in a protocol and in line with established procedures and policies;
    • Dispense oral investigational products and standard of care drugs, as required in a protocol and in line with established procedures and policies; 
    • Together with the Clinical Research Pharmacist, perform training/education for the clinical research team (and others, as necessary), including new research pharmacy members;
    • Ensure that equipment used for investigational medicinal products and standard of care drugs storage and preparation are functioning properly; and
    • Perform cross functional and/or other duties as assigned or requested by manager.

     Requirements

    • Diploma in Pharmacy;
    • 2 years working experience in hospital pharmacy
    • Registered with Kenya Pharmaceutical Association;
    • Current Practicing License from Pharmacy and Poisons Board;
    • Aseptic Technique Training; and
    • CITI / Research training preferred.
