    Senior Clinical Officer

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Take history from patients and examine in order to make appropriate diagnosis of common ailments;
    • Interpret laboratory results to make proper diagnosis;
    • Counseling patients in health related matters for psychological healing;
    • Prescribe drugs to patients to ensure they get the required treatment;
    • Treating and follow up of patients and clients in medical health institutions and study sites;
    • When necessary, arrange for patient referrals or consultations to other health facilities for specialty or higher-level management and ensure accompaniment of patients on referrals as needed;

    Senior Bioinformatician

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design research projects that apply valid scientific techniques and use information obtained from baselines or historical data to structure data to allow uncompromised and efficient analyses;
    • Plan data acquisition methods for specific projects and determine the types and sizes of sample groups to be used;
    • Where possible, adapt statistical methods to solve specific problems in biomedicine;

    Clinical Trial Coordinator - Nairobi

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that the clinical trial is conducted in compliance with the approved protocol, GCP, and applicable regulatory requirements at the site level.
    • Monitor the implementation of the study protocol at the site, addressing any issues or deviations promptly.
    • Coordinate and supervise the activities of the site clinical research team, including nurses, technicians, and other staff.
    • Facilitate communication and collaboration among the site team and investigators.
    • Oversee participant recruitment, enrollment, and retention strategies to ensure target enrollment is achieved at the site.
    • Ensure informed consent is obtained and documented appropriately.
    • Ensure accurate and timely data collection and entry into electronic databases at the study site.
    • Work closely with the Data Manager to resolve any data discrepancies or issues.
    • Maintaining up to date regulatory binders for the study including the Study Master File (SMF) essential documents, delegation of duties log, training files.
    • Oversee maintenance of Trial Master File and/or Investigator Site File (ISF)
    • Planning and conducting internal site monitoring for the study and following up on proposed action plans.
    • Maintain all regulatory documents at the site, including IRB approvals and informed consent forms.
    • Monitor and report adverse events and ensure participant safety at the site..
    • Preparing the sites for external study monitoring visits and writing post visit reports.
    • Working with external monitors during monitoring visits and spearheading resolution of monitoring visit clarification forms.
    • Works together with the study manager, principal investigators and relevant teams in ensuring timely submissions of progress reports/compliance documents to KEMRI SERU/PPB.

    Clinical Research Scientist - Homabay

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with the trial Principal Investigators (PIs) and the site Study Coordinator to set up and execute a clinical trial [one position is for a phase 2 clinical trial of a novel antimalaria monoclonal antibody in Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital;
    • Develop an in-depth understanding of the study designs and goals, and ensure that study is conducted in compliance with study protocols and other regulatory requirements;
    • Supervise clinical personnel at Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital;
    • Identify and document adverse events and serious adverse events and report to PIs and study pediatrician;
    • Provide written reports on serious adverse events within the required time period, following GCP practices;
    • Provide medical advice and respond to clinical queries from the study staff, and to questions about the study posed by participants and others;
    • Make diagnoses and decisions to admit patients according to study protocol;
    • Conduct regular reviews of clinical trial database records to ensure accurate data entry by all study staff;
    • Report problems encountered in the field to the Principal Investigator or other designated personnel;
    • Conduct CMEs at the hospital and lead discussions with the clinical and nursing personnel.
