    Laboratory Technologist - Migori

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Accurately and timely Perform Vijana SM study-specific assays: HIV rapid tests and urine Pregnancy tests.
    • Preparing Samples for shipments to referral labs, including STI testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.
    • Performing maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment’s.
    • Developing and updating laboratory inventory and stock control cards
    • Ensure efficient chain of custody of all samples collected, laboratory study documents, results and perform tests as per the specific laboratory SOPs
    • Projection on consumables and reagents, and re-ordering whenever due.
    • Completion of lab eCRFs on provided EDC.
    • Ensuring custody of participant specimens and storage/archival
    • Appropriate reporting of any abnormal lab result.
    • Ensure compliance with all the SOPs and respective specimen flow charts
    • Participate and pass all required proficiency testing
    • Participate in timely enrolment of all EQAs required where applicable.
    • Participate in supervised sample shipment procedures
    • Updating and ensuring quality assurance of the lab specimen data base
    • Receive, download, and post/report all external lab results/reports
    • Transcription of all lab results and communication of the same as per the lab results communication SOP
    • QA/QC point persons at the lab level

    Psychologist - Migori

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collaboratively develop the content of the adolescent and caregiver communication and relationship-strengthening training curriculum
    • Develop the training manual and schedules
    • Work with other partners to incorporate appropriate training materials into the training
    • Oversee the training of the lay mental health workers to ensure a thorough understanding of the theory and practice of the communication training curriculum.
    • Development of a supervision plan throughout study follow-up/intervention delivery to monitor the fidelity of training material and quality.
    • Offer mental health support and referrals as needed to lay mental health, workers, research assistants, and study nurses who experience vicarious trauma through their work with participants.
    • Oversee training adolescent and caregiver communication and relationship-strengthening training curriculum by the lay mental health workers and sometimes conduct the training sessions as needed.
    • Maintain a training attendance register to assess uptake of the communication training intervention among intervention participants with support from the lay mental health workers
    • Assess knowledge uptake and implementation by the study participants
    • Write weekly and monthly reports on training progress, challenges faced, and possible solution
    • Contribute your expertise in behavioral health to inform study intervention, interpretation of findings, and overall study management.
    • Interact with participants in accordance with ethical standards and guidelines for research involving human subjects.

    Study Nurse - Migori

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with the research team to develop and implement research protocol and SOPs including recruiting participants and obtaining informed consent
    • Collect or support the self-collection of urine and vaginal swabs for pregnancy and STI testing, respectively and Process specimens as documented in the SOPs.
    • Conduct HIV testing and counseling.
    • Perform data collection activities with study participants.
    • Conduct anthropometric measurements & Calibrate scales, as needed.
    • Report laboratory results to adolescent girls and young women participants and provide referrals as needed.
    • Provide support if the adolescent participant requests assistance with sharing the test results, assist with disclosure.
    • Monitor participant’s physical and mental health status, refer participants as needed, and ensure their safety and well-being throughout the study.
    • Report adverse events, as required.
    • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate research findings to the scientific community.
    • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including the psychologist, research assistants, study managers and coordinators, and investigators.
    • Adhere to ethical guidelines and regulatory standards governing human subjects research

    Vacancy Requirements:

    • Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN) from an accredited institution.    Mandatory
    • Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the relevant jurisdiction.    Mandatory
