    Deputy Director Planning / Operations & Maintenance

    VACANCY NO. KSI/PSB/EA/14/2022:

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Preliminary assessments and designs for Water projects which include; Rehabilitation of existing projects such as boreholes, Earth dams, sand/subsurface dams, Water pipelines and Rock catchments;
    • Valuation and estimation of engineering works undertaken by contractors;
    • Preparation of technical site plans;
    • Production of work estimates (bill of Quantities) and project costs;
    • In liaison with other officers, compile technical project reports;
    • Advise the directorate on project technical details;
    • Ensure continued operation and maintenance of rural water schemes by keeping in touch with the water resource persons and community mobilizers for real-time information on boreholes operational status;
    • Maintains borehole repairs equipment, parts and supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed equipment, parts and supplies; placing and expediting orders;
    • Managing active boreholes inventory for broken down and repaired boreholes;
    • Managing the Operation and Maintenance teams across the county; and
    • Any other duty as allocated.

    REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES

    • Be a Kenyan Citizen.
    • Be in possession of a Degree in Water Engineering/Civil Engineering;
    • Have experience of at least three (3) years in related assignment;
    • Demonstrate high level of technical understanding of water infrastructure
    • Practical knowledge on survey using GPS, Theodolite, Total station/ or Real Time Kinematic
    • Proficiency in Computer Aided Designs

    Plumber/Meter Reader (10 Positions)

    VACANCY NO. KSI/PSB/EA/18/2022

    Responsibilities

    • The plumbers shall be responsible for installation, repair and maintenance of draw pipes and pipe systems, raising mains and water distribution systems in the county. Meter readers shall be responsible for reading and collecting accurate data while providing timely reports and Specifically;
    • Carry out installation and repair works.
    • Travel to commercial and Homes to read, connect and disconnect
    • Gather water utility data and record appropriately for subsequent reporting and decision making.
    • Maintenance of Government Housing and Building daily and preparation of budget to do minor

    Welder

    Responsibilities

    Water Surveyor (2 Positions)

    VACANCY NO. KSI/PSB/EA/20/2022:

    Responsibilities

    • Inputting, updating, and maintaining GIS databases, and coverage, layers, and linkages to various
    • Conduct fieldwork as needed to prepare GIS datasets and associated deliverables
    • Prepare GPS units (including sub-meter Trimble and Garmin) and provide instruction and support for collecting data in the field

    Pump Technician (2 Positions)

    VACANCY NO. KSI/PSB/EA/23/2022:

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Carry out random checks on pumps to ensure proper functioning
    • Carry out repairs on all pumps and prepare summary reports
    • Assess and diagnose problems with broken down water supply systems including submersible electric & hand pumps, surface pumps, electrical pump controls, piping and pipe fittings, water treatment unitsand general borehole installations and give recommendations/ reports on their repair as per the ppm
    • Ensure preventive maintenance completed in line with the departmental quality standards, in timely manner
    • Should be able operate assemble and install valves and fittings at the pump room
    • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, PPR burn, brazing and welding equipment.
    • Ensure any installed pump repairs are inspected and done properly
    • Carry out or coordinate repairs on broken down water systems in the pump rooms and restore to working condition

    REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES

    • Be a Kenyan Citizen.
    • Diploma or Certificate/Trade test in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent certificate from a recognized institution in any discipline relating to Water, Civil or Electrical Engineering is the necessary educational requirement
    • At least 3 years’ practical experience with installations and repairs on water pumps systems (electricals controls and pipework) especially for pools, speed pumps, borehole and surface water supplies.
    • Excellent technical knowledge in water pump electronics.
    • Well-developed interpersonal and team skills ability to be flexible in demanding situations
    • Good people relations and communication skills.
    • Team player willing to work with minimum supervision

    Ability to work under pressure and multi-task between various briefs

    Ward Administrator

    VACANCY NO. KSI/PSB/EA/24/2022:

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinating and facilitating citizen participation in the development of policies, plans and delivery of services;
    • Enhance administrative capacity for effective functions and governance at the local level;
    • Ensuring compliance with legal, statutory and regulatory requirements;
    • Facilitating inter-governmental relations and conflict resolution at the Ward level;
    • Mobilize revenue collection and play a critical role in building businesses registers of ratepayers and business people in the ward;

    REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES

    For appointment to this grade an officer must:-

    • Be a Kenyan Citizen and originate from the Ward applying for.
    • Have Bachelor’s degree in Administration and Management from a recognized university (Masers degree will be an added advantage)
    • Have thorough understanding of devolution, the county development plans and objectives.
    • Have a work experience of at least two (2) years in administration and management at senior management level.
    • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
    • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution.
