    Environmental Ecosystem (Wetland) Officer

    This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under guidance & supervision of a senior officer.

    Job specifications

    Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Monitoring the state of inland freshwater resources on a regular basis.
    • Taking inventory of aquatic ecosystems to assist in their proper management,
    • Identifying appropriate measures to prevent or minimize pollution.
    • Collecting and collating information for development of management plans.
    • Liaising with lead agencies, the private sector, NGOs and communities on wetland conservation and management activities.
    • Developing national wetlands inventory.
    • Implementing relevant Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs).

    Requirements for appointment:

    For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Aquatic Ecology (Fresh water), Wetlands Management, Environmental Studies, Natural
    • Resources management, Aquatic Engineering or any other relevant field from a recognized institution;

    Supply Chain Management Officer

    Job Specifications

    Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to: -

    • Procurement planning, inventory control and requisitioning for the Authority.
    • Collecting, collating and analyzing relevant data from the Authority and making appropriate recommendations thereof.
    • Monitoring implementation of existing Supply Chain Management policies, guidelines and procedures.
    • Coordinating the activities of the Authority’s Board of Survey on disposing items.
    • Issuing and receiving stores.
    • Monitoring the movement of stores.
    • Recommending requisitions
    • Updating the stores /stocks cards.
    • Checking the stationery issues against requisitions made.
    • Preparing stores requisitions for the items which have reached their minimum stock levels.
    • Ensuring the quality of goods delivered by suppliers are of the right/required quality.
    • Delivering stores to other departments/divisions.
    • Preparing payment vouchers for suppliers.
    • Distributing quotations requests.
    • Preparing estimates of expenditure on supplies and services.

    Requirements for the appointment

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Business Administration, (Supplies Management Option) or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
    • Member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) or any other relevant professional body.

    Environment Officer (3 Positions)

    Job Specifications

    Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Environmental inspections and environmental incident management;
    • Receiving, dispatching and reviewing Environmental Impact
    • Assessments (EIA) and Environmental Audits (EA) Reports;
    • Notification of EIA reports due for reviewing and processing of licenses;
    • Receiving and dispatching applications for various Licensing regimes;
    • Mobilizing the public to participate in environmental conservation and management;
    • Assisting County Governments in developing the necessary capacity for environmental management;
    • Coordinating community environmental activities;
    • Monitoring the state of terrestrial ecosystems on a regular basis, rapid assessment and inventory of terrestrial ecosystems, creation and updating of environmental data bases;
    • Collecting and collating information for development of integrated management plans;
    • Compiling progress reports;
    • Implementing relevant Multi-lateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) and donor funded projects;
    • Liaising with lead agencies, NGOs and the public in environmental management of terrestrial ecosystems;
    • Implementing programmes to address climate change, air quality and desertification,
    • Identifying and verifying appropriate measures to prevent pollution and environmental degradation.

    Requirements for appointment

    For appointment to this grade; a candidate must have; -

    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following field; Environmental Management, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science; Biochemistry, Natural Science, Community Development or any other relevant field from a recognized institution;
    • Proficiency in computer applications

    Strategy and Planning Officer

    Job specifications

    Duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to:

    • Preparing monthly and quarterly progress reports;
    • Participating in development and review of the strategic plan;
    • Participating in preparation of the performance contract, annual work plan and Budgets;

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will include but not limited to:

    • Undertaking inspections for environmental and control audit;
    • Receiving, classifying and responding to incidents in line with the Authority’s mandate;
    • Communicating to clients/proponents on the Authority’s records of decision in regard to enforcement actions;
    • Reviewing environmental audit reports;
    • Preparing performance data, progress reports including analytical presentation of data;
    • Managing EA Registry records, Incident Management and EA Registers.

    Environment Assistant

    Motorcycle Rider

    Duties and Responsibilities:-

    Specific duties at this level will include but not limited to:

    • Collecting and dispatching mail from various offices including post office;
    • Cycling in a responsible manner that does not endanger other road users or pedestrians and observing speed limits and High Way Code;
    • Taking good care of the motor cycle assigned, keeping it clean and ensuring that tyre pressure, fuel, oil, water and all other fluids are kept topped-up at all times;
    • Maintaining a work ticket.
    • Reporting any defects, accidents or breakdowns;
    • Checking that the motor cycle’s Insurance Cover is up to date;
    • Making sure that the service and maintenance schedule is adhered to;
    • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

    • KCSE Certificate minimum Grade D (plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • At least Four (4) years active riding experience in public service or private sector;
    • A valid driving license (Class FG) free from any current endorsements;
    • First Aid Certificate of not less than one (1) week from St. Johns, KIBHT or any other recognized institution;
    • Certificate of Good Conduct from Criminal Investigation Department. (CID)
    • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution

    Duties and responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail but not limited to:

    • Cleaning offices, machines/equipment/apparatus;
    • Maintaining general cleanliness around the offices by collecting and disposing of litter;
    • Collecting and disposing waste including papers and ensuring general proper sanitation;
    • Dusting the office and ensuring habitable office conditions;
