Overall Responsibility

The role has responsibility to ensure radio network plans and dimensions according to commercial/business requirements and the roll out plan & license obligations. You shall provide input for the design of new technologies and services in accordance to poa! business strategy. End-to-end capacity planning will be key while also doing efficient plans for new network areas and expand coverage to uncovered areas within where we serve.

• Minimize cost of network implementation by ensuring that the design produces the highest efficiencies in every implementation.

People

• Key Internal Relationships are Sales & Marketing, Customer Experience, Customer Implementation, NOC, SMC, Network Infrastructure, Platforms and Architecture.

Key SMART Results for A-Player Success

• Plan, design and survey for appropriate high sites to host 80 towers, prepare and share relevant documentation to concerned parties - End 2022
• Post-installation review of new DPs performance through coverage tests and preparation of coverage test reports - End 2022
• Prepare and update any maps (kmz/kml) using Google Earth or Google Maps to show 15 new network areas surveyed as part of network expansion - End 2022
• Configuration management and optimization of new RF Devices to ensure that they are all as per design and configuration requirements and reduce interference complaints by 10% - Monthly
• Generating Air-max/Air Fiber parameters and coming up with optimization plan to ensure they are within operating values - Bi-Weekly
• Reducing failed survey rates from install partners by 10% - Monthly
• Level 2 technical support service to the Network support team on complex Customer complaint troubleshooting which require Radio Network planning or optimization solutions within the agreed SLA - End 2022
• Perform data driven capacity planning for existing and future networks in coordination with Sales & Marketing and customer facing teams and ensure minimum 20% overhead capacity availability for all RF links (PtMP/PtP) as per defined thresholds - Bi-Weekly
• Level of Management Experience required (Mandatory & Nice to Have)
• Mandatory - proven experience in building, documenting and continually improving quality & efficiency in fast moving consumer tech services business in Kenya

• Competency in GIS systems and tools - L
• Must have experience to handle wireless broadband networks with knowledge and experience in working with Network Management applications such as UBNT UNMS(now UISP), UBNT Air control(now Airlink) - M

• Bsc. Degree in Telecommunications or related field.

• At least 1 year experience in Radio Network planning & optimization.
• Excellent understanding of WISP KPI/KQI definitions and calculation methods.

• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.

Responsible for proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, restoration or escalation of network outages within SLA. Responsible for clear communication across company channels regarding outages, downtime and expected resolutions

Key SMART Results for A-Player Success

• Ensure all services and network infrastructure on active monitor 24/7 and alerts sent out to stakeholders within 15 minutes of noted Network degradation or failures - Monthly
• Aim to have all network outages escalated to service providers / vendors within 15 minutes and tracked with hourly updates to stakeholders till resolution - Monthly
• Ensure all scheduled network maintenance is communicated 48 hours in advance, and tracked with hourly updates on network status up-until the service is fully restored - End Q1 2022
• Have all unresolved complex network issues escalated to NOC engineers within 30 minutes - Monthly
• Ensure all data on service and network monitoring systems is accurate and up-to-date - Quarterly
• All documentation of Network related incidents, problems, changes, Root Cause Analysis and RFOs as shared by vendors or field teams is timely and up to date - Monthly
• Sat and passed at least one Microtik and / Or Ubiquiti Certification - Q4 2022

Key Competencies (Criticality H, M, L)

• Must have a post secondary certification in engineering, preferably networks or telecommunications - H
• Must have knowledge of and experience with routing and switching protocols, IT Systems, Fiber Planning an added advantage - H
• Must be experienced with remote technical support, written and verbal communications - H
• Familiarity with, remote access, troubleshooting SOP's, ticketing platforms and escalations - H
• Must have at least 1 year experience at a 24 hour NOC supporting a telecom industry - M
• Must be able to demonstrate competencies in the ability to remotely troubleshoot and support internal and external parties for hardware and software support - M
• Basic knowledge of Linux kernel, command line and system diagnostics - H
• Basic knowledge of the OSI model, switching and internet routing technologies - H
