    Tribe Lead – Payments Tribe

    Detailed Description

    • Reporting to the Chief Financial Services Officer, the Tribe Lead for the Payments Tribe in a Fintech Ecosystem, will drive a pivotal role in overseeing the strategic direction, planning, and execution of all payments-related initiatives within the organization. He/She will manage team of professionals and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver innovative payment solutions that meet the needs of our customers and drive business growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    •  Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic guidance and leadership for the Payments Tribe, aligning the tribe's objectives with the overall business goals and vision of the organization. Develop and communicate a clear roadmap and vision for the tribe.
    •  Team Management: Build and lead a high-performing team of professionals, including product managers, engineers, designers, and analysts. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the tribe.
    •  Product Development: Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle for payment-related initiatives. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements, prioritize features, and ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders from other tribes, such as the Risk, Compliance, and Technology tribes, to ensure effective collaboration and alignment of objectives.     •  Customer Experience: Champion a customer-centric approach to payments, identifying opportunities to improve the user experience and drive customer satisfaction. Analyze customer feedback and market trends to inform the development of new payment features and capabilities.
    •  Innovation and Market Trends: Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments related to payments. Identify innovative solutions and market opportunities to enhance the organization's payment capabilities and maintain a competitive edge.
    • Risk and Compliance: Collaborate with the Risk and Compliance teams to ensure that all payment solutions comply with relevant regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and security requirements. Mitigate potential risks and implement robust controls within the payment’s ecosystem.
    •  Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the performance and success of payment initiatives. Analyze data, generate insights, and make data-driven decisions to optimize performance and drive continuous improvement.
    • Communication and Reporting: Communicate the tribe's progress, achievements, and challenges to senior management and relevant stakeholders. Prepare and present regular reports, including status updates, financials, and forecasts.

     
    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, Computer Science) is required. A Master's degree or equivalent is preferred.
    • Proven experience (8+ years) in a leadership role within the payments domain, preferably in the fintech industry.
    • Strong understanding of payments infrastructure, systems, and technologies, such as card networks, payment gateways, mobile wallets, and blockchain-based solutions.
    • Deep knowledge of payment industry regulations, compliance requirements, and security best practices.
    • Experience in agile methodologies and product development practices, with a track record of successfully delivering complex payment solutions.
    • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

    E – Commerce Lead

    Detailed Description

    • Reporting to the Head of Venture Management, the E – Commerce Lead will be responsible for developing, driving and implementing Safaricom’s e-commerce strategy to maximize sales, with a persistent emphasis on customer acquisition, conversions and maximizing Average order Value (AOV). This will incorporate our digital marketing strategy and social media marketing.

     Key Responsibilities

    • Develop, own, drive and implement the overall e-commerce strategy to ensure revenue growth through increased customer acquisition, conversion and AOV.
    • Responsible for collaborating with cross-functional partners to manage all aspects of the eCommerce business including, business planning, website design, customer service, web analytics and web technologies.
    • Analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of all existing operations and current needs based on new technology and market competition.
    • Serve as a liaison and primary point of contact within the eCommerce organization for cross functional partners acting as a project manager to evaluate, prioritize, develop, manage, implement and test eCommerce initiatives and ROI of each activity.

    Business Manager

    Detailed Description

    Reporting to the Chief Financial Services Officer, the Business Manager will undertake the below;

    • Advisor to the Chief on strategic initiatives, performance improvement of the organization, to assist in achieving business results. Lead the elements of strategic planning & implementation within the company by providing solutions to business issues & challenges.
    • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with Safaricom   Board, and external partners.
    • Provides ongoing support to the Chief on general Financial Services issues,   informing the Chief of system-wide matters needing attention so as to enable the Chief to focus on more strategic challenges and better optimize use of time.
    • Researching, benchmarking, publishing accurate and factual information  for decision making as well as providing thought leadership on changes taking place within the industry.
    • Plays a key role in providing insights and analytics on Business  performance.
    • Supports the business in the strategic projects rollout and ensures tracking of progress, using information integrated from varied systems and sources.
    • Responsible for leading & coordinating all administrative tasks within the   Chief’s office and ensures the efficient running of the Chief's office.

    • Seek intelligence on competitor strategy from industry experts, Telecom analysts and other media whilst maintaining highest ethical standards.

    Costs Containment

    • Review and advice the Chief on overall company cost management initiatives.
    • Review the budget and forecasts in line with the company policy and manage the department’s Expenditure.

    People Management

    • Partner and oversee the team alongside the Chief.
    • Work and manage in a matrix structure Coaching, mentoring, and delegating when need be.

     
    QUALIFICATIONS

    • A Bachelor’s degree or preferably an MBA.
    • Have 5-8  years work experience in the Telecom/ICT space/Consulting/Financial Services; 3 of which must be in senior Management.
    • Minimum 5 years leadership experience in a cross-functional or matrix organization.
    • Proven experience in governance, risk management and change management in Financial Services/Fintech.
    • Experience developing and implementing complex, multi-year strategic plans to meet business objectives.
    • Ability to keep abreast with market changes, customer requirements, competitive environment to help in the development of new business opportunities.
    • Strong experience in business analysis, solution development, project/program management, and project delivery.
    • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization both internally and externally.
