    Junior Urban Resilience and Stakeholder Engagement Consultant

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The Consultant will represent UN-Habitat and interacts with all the stakeholders of the projects; therefore he/she will be appointed based on securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity. As a UN representative, he/she is expected to exhibit and adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct. The Consultant will perform the following duties and responsibilities;
    • Undertake reviews, desk research, data gathering and assessments on relevant policies and strategies related to urban planning and water, climate and urban resilience, stakeholders engagement and document findings in short briefing reports.
    • Provide technical and sectoral support on the coordination of activities for the development for different projects of the Urban Lab.
    • Provide technical expertise in relation to water, climate and urban resilience for Urban Lab projects.
    • Provide technical expertise in relation to stakeholder engagement for Urban Lab projects.
    • Provide technical expertise in relation to the normative production of the Urban Lab.
    • Develop and support the preparation of presentations, training material and capacity reinforcement activities and deliver workshops/training in relation to the project deliverables and applied methodologies.
    • Support in the development and organisation of participatory, multi-stakeholder processes tailor-made for the projects in a specific context.
    • Provide input to Urban Lab documents and publications.
    • Support the technical development of country proposals and development frameworks.
    • Contribute to the development of the Urban Lab project portfolio.

    Qualifications/special skills

    Academic Qualification;

    • A first-level university degree in Architecture, Urban Development and Planning, or a related field is required.
    • Master’s degree or equivalent in Architecture, Urban Development and Planning, or a related field is an asset.
    • Working Experience; At least 2 year of relevant work experience in the field of sustainable urban development, urban planning, or related fields, with a focus on integrating water, climate resilience, and urban systems, is required;
    • Experience in organising and facilitating workshops, training sessions, or stakeholder meetings, including the preparation of supporting materials, is required;

    Data Analyst

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The consultant will work in the Knowledge and Innovation Branch, under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Data and Analytics Unit. She/he will be responsible for the following tasks:
    • Develop and update the SAI indicator framework, including comprehensive metadata and guidelines, ensuring alignment with the UMF, SDG metadata standards, the Global Urban Indicators Database Framework, and UN-Habitat’s strategic priorities on housing, land, infrastructure, and access to basic services.
    • Research, assess, and document the viability, relevance, and contextual applicability of the SAI application scenarios, preparing detailed scenario reports covering at least eight thematic areas such as SDG Awards, Urban Health Checker, International Megacities, Sci-Tech Innovation Cities, Healthy Cities, Provincial Applications, Livable Cities, Urban Agglomerations, and New Towns Sustainable Development.
    • Generate and validate data points across priority indicators, including housing, land, infrastructure, access to urban services, and GIS/EO/AI applications, ensuring full alignment with UMF, SDG metadata standards, the Global Urban Indicators Database Framework, and UN-Habitat data guidelines.
    • Support SAI implementation evaluation and communications, including assessing pilot city applications, reviewing indicator selection and data quality, contributing to the preparation of SAI promotional materials, planning SAI-related events, and providing inputs for the SAI digital platform.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in urban planning, statistics, demography, economics, urban studies, or any other closely related field is required. A Bachelor's degree, combined with two additional qualifying years of experience in the related field, will be accepted in lieu of a Master's degree.
    • At least five years of experience as a researcher or analyst working with urban data and human settlements issues at the local, national, and international levels is required.
    • Strong knowledge of indicator frameworks, such as SDG indicators, the Global Urban Monitoring Framework (UMF), and related measurement methodologies is highly desirable.
