    Senior CRM Manager - Lifecycle & Retention

    What You'll Do

    • You'll own CRM strategy and execution end-to-end. Build automated customer journeys in CleverTap/Braze, run experiments on messaging and timing, analyse retention cohorts, and scale successful programmes across markets. Partner with Product, Commercial, and Operations teams to turn customer behaviour into growth opportunities.

    Your Core Responsibilities:

    • Build and scale multi-channel lifecycle programmes: Design onboarding, retention, churn prevention, and upsell journeys across SMS, WhatsApp, push, and in-app messaging
    • Design behavioural trigger-based upsell systems: Move customers from entry products (smartphones/e-bikes) to higher-value bundles (digital loans, insurance, device protection) based on payment behaviour and engagement signals
    • Run rigorous experiments: A/B test messaging, timing, incentives, and offers with clear hypotheses and statistical rigour - then turn wins into repeatable playbooks
    • Own retention economics: Track and optimise LTV, cohort retention, renewal rates, and upsell performance - translating insights into action
    • Scale what works across markets: Turn successful experiments into documented frameworks that enable teams to execute growth initiatives across 5 African markets

    Your Environment 

    • Tech Stack: CleverTap, Braze, MoEngage, or similar
    • Analytics: Mixpanel, Amplitude, Looker
    • Channels: WhatsApp, SMS, push, in-app messaging, telesales

    What You Need

    • 6+ years building and scaling CRM or lifecycle marketing - ideally in businesses where daily or weekly customer engagement drives retention and revenue.
    • Relevant backgrounds we're interested in: MVNO experience, super-apps with daily engagement models, mobile gaming with daily retention mechanics, prepaid subscription services, or B2C fintech/subscription businesses where high-frequency engagement drives the model.
    • You've built CRM systems, not just optimised them - whether migrating platforms (Mailchimp → Braze), designing journey architecture from scratch, or scaling programmes across markets.
    • You're hands-on in CRM platforms daily - personally building journeys in tools like Braze, CleverTap, MoEngage, Customer.io, or Iterable.
    • You think in business outcomes - your achievements mention LTV growth, retention revenue, upsell rates, renewal improvements - not just open rates or engagement metrics.
    • You run rigorous experiments - designing tests with clear hypotheses, control groups, and measurable success criteria.

    AI Operations Lead

    What You'll Do

    • At M-KOPA, you'll lead the AI Operations team from day one - owning delivery, growing the function, and proving the value. Your team builds automations and agents for internal use and serves as internal consultants, helping Engineering integrate AI into customer-facing products. Join us in combining cutting-edge AI tooling with purpose-driven work that makes digital and financial inclusion possible across Africa.

    Your key responsibilities:

    • Lead two AI Ops Engineers — own their delivery, development, and day-to-day work
    • Prioritise efficiently — manage competing requests from multiple teams by applying a clear prioritisation framework you'll help develop and improve
    • Build and ship automations and agents that measurably improve how internal teams and customer-facing staff work
    • Keep the AI tooling stack healthy as usage scales across 2,500+ employees
    • Stay current on emerging AI tools and technologies - know what's hype and what's actually useful
    • Help refine AI training for the wider organisation, including Engineering teams

    Technical Environment 

    • AI & Agentic Frameworks: Claude, Claude Code, Anthropic tooling, LangChain, MCP, Google ADK (or similar agentic tooling)
    • Automation & Prototyping: Scripting, workflow tools, AI-assisted development, rapid prototyping (Vercel/Railway)
    • Enterprise Tooling: Identity automation (Entra), internal platforms, Notion, HiBob integrations
    • Existing Foundation: Twelve months of Claude, Notion, HiBob, and Entra automations already running in production

    What You Need

    • We're looking for someone with a strong technical background and product-focused. You won't be building models - we have Data Science teams for that. You'll be building agents, shipping automations, and leading a team that makes M-KOPA's internal operations smarter and faster.

    Required Experience:

    • Hands-on experience building automations — scripting, workflow tools, or AI-assisted development
    • Hands-on experience building agents using agentic frameworks — LangChain, MCP, Google ADK or similar
    • Background in enterprise tooling — rapid prototyping tools (Vercel/Railway), identity automation (Entra), or internal platforms
    • People leadership experience — you've led or mentored engineers and can own a team's delivery and development

    Head of Marketing

    What You'll Do

    • At M-KOPA, you'll own the full marketing mandate - brand strategy, creative direction, campaign execution, and marketing talent development across Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, and South Africa. You'll advance our "More Than a Phone" proposition, partner with Country GMs to shape how marketing is structured and governed across markets, and build the marketing function that powers M-KOPA's next phase of growth.
    • This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll do the core thinking yourself - developing brand strategy, reading local markets, interrogating data and consumer insights, writing the brief, evaluating creative, optimising the media mix, and building the business case for investment. Agencies and third parties support that work; they don't replace it.

    Your Environment 

    • Brand: CI guidelines, value proposition framework, brand architecture across devices and digital product categories
    • Product launches: Positioning, selling points, and campaign direction for hardware and digital product launches across markets
    • Packaging: Device packaging owned end-to-end - reflecting brand identity and meeting retail, agent, and customer requirements
    • Campaigns: ATL, BTL, in-trade, and digital execution - TV, radio, OOH, digital, and experiential - across five markets
    • Digital platforms: Performance marketing, CPA targeting, content and video, website strategy and optimisation
    • Products: Smartphones, digital loans, flexible advances, device protection, insurance, data bundles, e-motorbikes
    • Partnerships: Group agency relationships - briefing, performance reviews, contract oversight
    • Measurement: Brand measurement framework - sentiment, awareness, recall, consideration - with OKRs and survey baselines

    What You Need

You lead with influence, not title - holding the line on brand while partnering collaboratively across functions and markets.

    Required Experience:

    • 10+ years in marketing, with 5+ in a senior group, regional, or multi-market leadership role
    • Proven track record building and evolving brand strategy in high-growth fintech, consumer services, or creative agency environments
    • Hands-on ownership of multi-market budgets with direct accountability for spend performance
    • Deep experience in M-KOPA's core markets
    • Strong ATL campaign craft - directing agency partners and overseeing integrated media plans
    • Hands-on performance marketing credentials - funnel optimisation, data-driven acquisition, paid social across Facebook, TikTok, WhatsApp and what comes next
    • Proven people leader with experience developing marketing talent across geographies
    • Commercially fluent - comfortable with budgeting, managing marketing investment and understanding its contribution to the full proposition economics
