    Product Manager

    Main Purpose of the job

    The Product Manager will be end responsible for continuously developing, launching and tracking the success of new and improved products that CarePay offers to both consumers and healthcare providers. These products are often developed and marketed in close cooperation with strategic partners such as mobile telecom partners, insurance partners and NGO partners.

    A key example of such a product is our M-TIBA health savings product, which we bring to the market in Kenya in partnership with Safaricom, UAP – Old Mutual and PharmAccessFoundation.

    To be successful, the Product Manager is required to have an insatiable curiosity to understand how people think, feel and do. And, based on this thorough understanding of the customer, stakeholders and context, the candidate should have an ongoing drive to guide the CarePay IT team to develop human-centered, intuitive products that will make a difference to CarePay’s bottom line as well as to our customers’ lives.

    Responsibilities for the Product Manager Job

    • Be the “voice of the customer” within the CarePay organization: you are the champion of developing human-centered, intuitive products and user interfaces within CarePay and towards our partners
    • Leading by example: you constantly verify your hypotheses on what our customers want and need by
      going out into the field, by interacting with our existing and future customers, and by bringing back your
      learnings and ideas to the rest of the CarePay organization
    • Incorporating inputs from consumers and other CarePay staff members, develop and execute a
      compelling product development roadmap for both consumers and healthcare providers, ensuring a
      steady stream of new product launches and ongoing product improvements
    • Optimize the customer journey and user interface for each of CarePay’s products on a continuous basis
    • Constantly measure the financial performance of and user satisfaction with CarePay’s products in the
      market, and ensure corrective actions are taken when needed Leverage CarePay’s partnerships with mobile telecom companies, insurance companies and NGOs to gain insights and inform the product development roadmap.
    • Product Leadership – Lead the cross-functional product team
    • Champion the product and explain the vision and benefits of the product.

    Qualifications for the Product Manager Job

    • University degree: field of studies can be in any direction, quality of the institution is more important
    • Ideally 3-5 years of relevant working experience in product development and/or business development
    • Previous work experience as product owner in technology companies is highly valued
    • Product management experience in customer centric industries
    • Understanding of the target customer, the competitors, teams and company’s product capabilities.
    • Strong leadership, team management and capacity building experience

    Frontend Developer

    Main Purpose of the Job
    The main primary responsibility will be to participate in the creation of new products and enhancements to existing products from concept to launch as part of a cross-functional project team. The Frontend Developer’s responsibility is to design, implement, and test frontend applications that result in compelling, easy to use products. Frontend Developer will also be responsible for a demanding and rewarding variety of duties related to the development, enhancement and delivery of CarePay’s leading product.

    Responsibilities for the Frontend Developer Job

    • Analyzing user requirements, researching, designing and writing new frontend systems;
    • Design mobile-based features;
    • Work closely with backend developers to use the endpoints which are available;
    • Optimize applications for maximum speed;
    • Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
    • Determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.
    • Documenting and demonstrating solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
    • Responding promptly and professionally to bug reports.
    • Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
    • Obtains and licenses software by obtaining required information from vendors; recommending purchases; testing and approving products
    • Evaluating the software and systems that make computers and hardware work;

    Qualifications for the Frontend Developer Job

    • Degree qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, software engineering, or related field
    • Knowledge in Software Development Fundamentals, Software Development Process, Software Requirements.
    • Experience with HTML5, Ajax, AngularJS, CSS/SASS
    • Knowledge of source-code and release management tools
    • More than 2 years of work experience in an active frontend development position
    • Experience and knowledge in software development lifecycle
    • IT Project management experience
    • Training focused on system architecture, Software Design, Software Debugging,
    • Software Documentation, and Software Testing.
    • Experience with Micro-Services and REST-based architecture
    • Good knowledge of software and programming languages with ability to use professionally at least two or more development language (JavaScript, AngularJS, HTML5). Primary language being AngularJS 2.0.
    • Knowledge on Android will be added advantage.
    • An understanding of the latest trends and their role in a commercial environment
    • An understanding of confidentiality and data protection issues.

    Junior Claims Assessor

    MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
    The primary role is to vet medical claims and ensure that they meet the set objectives for a given project. The role will also involve giving detailed reporting on all the general findings from the claims vetted with the aim of improving project outcomes as well as to enhance system functionality.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Verify and analyse all data on claims and to ensure these meet the project objectives as well as payer expectations for the various projects.
    • To send back simple yet detailed feedback to the provider team where claims do not meet the project expectations.
    • To ensure any general trends or inconsistencies noted are reported to the operations and provider teams.
    • Timely re-assessing of claims re-submitted by the providers and ensuring the raised queries are understood and following up with the provider team to ensure they are being resolved.
    • Provide support to customer call centre to address medical queries that have been escalated to CarePay.
    • Document and be able to extract and present and or discuss provider practices or disease trends.
    • Deliver feedback and training aimed at addressing the trends picked from the claims assessment exercise.
    • Help design and take part in some spot checks at Provider premises to ensure medical practices noted on claims can be supported at the Provider facilities.
    • Give suggestions on improvement of systems and internal processes to assist with the claims assessing role
    • Assist in price list management
    • To perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

    KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

    1. Ensure claims are assessed within 48 hours of receipt.
    2. Assessing 100 claims per hour.
    3. Document findings and trends and forwarding these as they arise for corrective action.

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    • Degree in Nursing or other suitable medical background in a related field or other closely related field
    • Good understanding of private and public healthcare delivery.
    • Have strong understanding of medical treatments protocols and good cost effective prescribing habits in relations to market segmentation.
    • At least 1.5 years’ experience in claims assessing in the medical insurance industry.

    Commercial Director

    MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

    The Commercial Director will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will focus on the integrated commercial success of CarePay. With CarePay being a young company, closing deals with customers requires an incredible amount of energy, creativity, and persistence to succeed, as there is no longstanding corporate reputation to build on. This means our ideal Commercial Director needs to be both smart and hands-on, and able to hold his/her own in a Board room setting as well roll up the sleeves with our teams in the field and in the office to close the deal. And as our services and technology are very complex and state of the art, the Commercial Director should be able to translate all that complexity into a very simple and easy to understand proposition that customers understand and want.

    The Commercial Director will have a curiosity to understand customers’ needs and provide crucial inputs for product development while leading sales & marketing. The Commercial Director likes to work in an innovative and entrepreneurial environment where he/ she can directly contribute to the company success by ensuring good ideas are turned into marketable products as soon as possible. The Commercial Director will engage with local and international customers, strategic partners and suppliers at the highest level to ensure CarePay’s commercial success.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Planning and Business Strategy

    • Develop strategic direction and plans for the company with regards to all commercial functions including sales, marketing, business development and communication. Develop long-term plans and budgets for the department and its activities, monitor progress, ensure adherence and evaluate performance. Ensure systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the department.

    2. Business Development

    • Develop a strategy and provide leadership for business development opportunities.
    • Originate and manage business development opportunities that are consistent with the company’s strategy for revenue growth.
    • Identify opportunities for innovation and market disruption
    • Maintain healthy relationships with existing customers and partners
    • Develop and create new business relationships with primarily corporate institutions and insurance companies, and secondarily with hospitals and medical professional institutions.

    • Create and lead the sales, marketing and product management team by setting priorities on business development activities to pursue.
    • Develop collaborative working relationships and mentor/ coach your team members.
    • Line management of the sales, marketing and product management staff members.
    • Maintain a climate that attracts, retains and motivates a top quality team. Recruit, train, appraise, supervise, support, develop, promote and guide qualified personnel.
    • Responsible for the achievement of the departments KPIs
    • As part of the executive team, drive the mission, vision, values and culture of the company.

    4. Partnerships

    • Develop strategic partnerships with telecommunication, insurance, banking, pharmaceutical, medical, and IT companies.

    5. Marketing and Sales

    • Develop and implement the company’s marketing & sales strategy across key market segments to ensure that the company identifies and optimizes a clear path to aggressive        growth.
    • Ensure good brand recognition and reputation for CarePay’s corporate brand as well as its consumer brands such as M-TIBA.
    • Identify and lead sales channels to meet and exceed revenue targets.
    • Manage sales pipeline to ensure targeted sales objectives are met.
    • Follow up on sales achievements and report to the CEO on a regular basis

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    • Masters degree qualifications in commerce, Business Administration, at top-tier institution.
    • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the closing of significant business deals
    • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in design and execution of business plans
    • At least 7-10 years of experience in an overall commercial/business function having held executive roles in top-tier organizations.
    • Consistent proven top performer in all previous engagements
    • Commercial experience in a services / technology industry is highly valued
    • Experience in all facets of selling lifecycle including business development, sales, marketing, product management, and channel development.
    • Experienced at representing the commercial function at senior management team meetings and Board meetings, as well as being an active contributor to such forums
    • Proven experience in for profit sector is a must. Experience in the not for profit sector is a plus.
    • Experience in the healthcare, health insurance and / or mobile money sector is a plus
    • Experienced at leading and managing teams, with general management experience as a plus
