    Plant Mechanic

    Reports to: Workshop Officer

    Staff reporting to this post: N/A

    Liaises with: Plant Electrician, Auto electrician and Mechanics

    Duty Station: Kakuma, AAHI Office

    Job Summary: The Plant Mechanic will be performing general maintenance, installation, servicing and repairs of
    varied range of generating sets; generators control systems and associated equipment.

    The role will ensure safe keeping and maintain safe working conditions to avoid risk that may cause injury to himself as well as the others.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    The General Maintenance, Servicing and Repairs of all Electrical equipment, generators and other electrical components.

    • To carry out preventive maintenance, service and repair of compounds and boreholes generators including minor and major overhauls of mechanical & electrical components.
    • Skilled in wiring and installations, servicing, repairing and maintenance of diesel and petrol driven generators ranging from 4KVA to 550 KVA units or higher.
    • To carry out fault diagnosis, repair and perform general maintenance on all generator equipment and adjustments of engines, hydraulics, electrical systems and installations.
    • Troubleshoot equipment and service generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems.
    • Responsible for repair, maintenance of generators mechanical and electrical accessories.
    • Overhaul and repairs of engines, electrical accessories and other mechanical components.
    • Will carry out major repairs, breakdown of generators mechanical, electrical and accessories in Kakuma and Kalobeyei. Will keep proper records of maintenance and repair carried out in each generator and prepare a list of items for preventive maintenance and electrical installation and submit to superior for follow up.
    • Skilled in understanding schematic diagram and lay out of all electrical aspects of generator installation, including connecting generator to the electrical systems of the residences and offices in clean and tidy manner and with evenly distributed voltage
    • Will write down on each generators file- repairs carried out for future reference this covers, types, model, brand, KVA, make. Will report any time when the unit is due for servicing
    • Will ensure that liquid solutions are topped up added or filled only at the right quantity.
    • Ensure safekeeping and safe working conditions to avoid risk that may cause injury to himself as well as the others.
    • Maintains maintenance records for, Gensets and other electrical equipment for easy verifications and reference reports that may be required.
    • Will ensure maintain proper use of tools, equipment and proper safe keeping and orderliness of the working area.
    • Will attend routine maintenance, servicing to the gensets, pumps and equipment others and will check for any signs of crack or loose fittings, leaks, or worn out parts.
    • Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
    • Recommend, develop, and perform preventive and general maintenance procedures such as cleaning, power-washing and vacuuming equipment, oiling parts, and changing filters.
    • Knowledgeable on operation and maintenance of the hybrid solar and diesel water pumping systems at the boreholes in the camps
    • Be prepared to travel on frequent basis from Logistic base or field offices to fulfill the tasks outlined in this job description.

    Professional experience

    • At least 5 years proven work experience in operation and maintenance of diesel-run generators and other electrical equipment in a busy workshop or institution
    • Experience in repair, maintenance and installation of generators and electrical pumps (boosters & submersible), wiring and repair of electrical control panels, commissioning, surveying, and pre-delivery inspection, and load designing.
    • Experience in boreholes equipment, retrieval and installation of submersible pumps, knowledge in bore drilling/development is an added advantage.
    • 2 years experience of working with INGO in a similar capacity will be an added advantage

    Other knowledge, additional competences

    • Ideally, a knowledge of spoken/written language widely used in the country
    • Sensitivity in handling and disposing of documents which may be important

    Warehouse Storekeeper

    Grade: AH8

    Department: Logistics

    Reports to: Warehouse Officer

    Staff reporting to this post: Warehouse Clerk and Casual labourers

    Liaises with: Operations Officer, Administration Officer.

    Duty Station: Kakuma, Kenya.

    Job Summary: The warehouse storekeeper will be responsible for stock control; ware house inventory and periodic stock reconciliations and document filing (waybills, GRN, GIV, supplier’s documents).

    Ensure reliability of quantities on stock cards against physical stock.

    The role will work closely with WMS Operator and prepares weekly and monthly stock report.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Fuel Discharger

    Reports to: Fuel Controller

    Job Summary: The Fuel Discharger will undertake routine quality assurance check; fuel equipment maintenance
    checks and coordinate with fuel suppliers on issues pertaining to quality control, safety and maintenance of fuel station and fuel equipment.

    S/he will check and transmit to the Data Encoder daily reports on fuel movement.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Responsible of fuel reception, storage and distribution.
    • Responsible for the refueling of all UNHCR and UNHCR IP’s vehicles, generators motorbikes and other equipment that are entitled to fuel allowances from UNHCR/AAH fuel station.
    • Update fuel ration cards, check and report any abnormal fuel consumption.
    • Fuel reception to be checked with supplier and confirm (together) the physical quantities received.
    • Check and transmit to the FMS Operator the daily fuel movement.
    • Verify the validity of the document (only authorized signatures).
    • Should be able to work for long hours taking into consideration the sort of operations AAH is involved in.
    • Reports to the head of fuel section.
    • Assists other colleagues as needed in the Project or offices; carries out any other office work on his supervisor’s request.

    Expected Results

    • Security of the containers (padlocks, totalizer and stock level) is guaranteed.
    • Routine quality assurance check and fuel equipment maintenance checks done as required.
    • Fuel reception, storage and distribution are performed to the expected standards.

    Qualifications

    • Secondary School Education
    • At least 1-3 years working experience in fuel storage and distribution

    Auto Mechanic

    Job Summary: The Mechanic will be responsible for general preventive maintenance and repairs of all vehicles and other assets booked into the workshop.

    S/He will carry out all major repairs; diagnose faults, overhaul of engines, gearboxes, transmissions, differentials, and other mechanical components.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The General Maintenance, Servicing and Repairs of all vehicles and other assets.

    • Carry out mechanical/electrical preventive maintenance and repair of vehicles, plant and equipment including but not limited to Isuzu trucks, 4×4 vehicles, and heavy vehicles of various makes, types and models.
    • Carry out overhaul of engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic pumps, repair electronic and computerized vehicle gadgets, air brakes and mobile air Conditioning systems.
    • Perform vehicle repair such as mechanical/electrical and accessories and will check thoroughly any signs of malfunctioning.
    • Retrieve/repair/rescue broken down vehicles in the field and provide defects reports.
    • Request for spare parts; requisitions must be approved by the supervisor.
    • Take responsibility of approved spares by ensuring proper parts are fitted, high quality of work is maintained for intended purpose.
    • Get the repair of vehicles/equipments first time right to avoid down time and repeat work.
    • To consistently deliver high quality repairs in the required timeframes
    • Ensure workshop safety rules and procedures are followed and use of right tools and equipments for the right job.
    • Interpret instructions, technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams, schematics and other guides in conducting repairs and modifications.

    • Ensure that lubricant and other liquid solutions are filled/topped up/added only the right quantity.
    • Ensure proper use and responsibility of assigned workshop tools and equipment, proper safe keeping, clean tools & equipment and proper workshop housekeeping every day.
    • Will carry out fabrication/rebuilding/welding and repairs on vehicle component with limited resources.
    • Will attend routine servicing and maintenance to project vehicles, generators, pumps, and others.
    • Ensure proper repair of punctured tires and recommend if the inner tubes or tires need to be replaced.
    • Distinguish uneven tire wear on the vehicle and recommend if there is a need for suspension repair or wheel alignment.
    • To update vehicles/generators repair schedule.
    • Be prepared to travel on frequent basis from Logistic base and other field offices to fulfill this tasks outlined in this job description. This will entail traveling and living under difficult environmental conditions.

    Professional experience

    • Demonstrate experience of at least 5 years in repairs and maintenance of vehicles and equipments especially 4WD vehicles and Isuzu trucks in the automotive field and at least 2 years in INGO with references.

    • Demonstrated multi skilling in mechanics, Auto electrics/electronics, welding and fabrication works a great Advantage.

    Job Summary: The Warehouse Officer will be responsible for managing the Warehouse Staff and facilities and ensuring that safety is always observed and warehouse well secured.

    S/he will check and inspect all goods received for quality and specification as per bill of loading/packing list/waybills/invoice and ensure proper recording.

    The role is responsible for managing the stores paper work and preparing stock reports on a weekly and
    monthly basis.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Checking and inspecting of all goods received for quantity and specification as per bill of
      loading/packing list/waybills/invoice and ensuring proper recording.
    • Ensuring that fumigation is done when necessary, extinguishers well positioned and checked
      regularly, warehouse and surroundings always clean and well-lit and preventing unauthorized
      persons entering the warehouse.
    • Inventory is done to ascertain the correctness of stock with records at any point in time and for
      damages or otherwise.
    • Ensuring proper stacking/packing, spacing is done to allow verification and free movement and avoid
      accident.
    • Ensuring that safety is always observed and warehouse well secured.
    • Preparing stock report on weekly basis and ensuring that records are well maintained.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor from time to time.

    Expected Results

    • Performance of Warehouse Staff is to the expected AAHI standards and security of the facilities is
      secure and safe.
    • All goods received are checked for quantity and specification as per bill of loading/packing
      list/waybills/invoice and are properly recorded.
    • All goods issued are certified and checked for quantity and are authorized and recorded.
    • Regular Inventory conducted to ascertain the correctness of stock with records at any point in
      time and for damages where needed.
    • Weekly/monthly stock report are prepared and records well maintained.
    • Proper stacking/packing, spacing is done to allow verification and free movement and accidents
      avoided.
    • Safety measures always observed and warehouse is well secured.
    • Weekly/monthly warehouse reports submitted on time.

    Qualifications

    • University degree in Logistics/Warehouse Management/Business Administration or equivalent.
    • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in warehouse management or comparable role.

    • Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, email, internet and computer
      applications)
