    Collaboration, Learning and Adaptation Director

    Responsibilities

    The CLA Director will carry out the following responsibilities:

    • Provide technical leadership for M&E to the project team to ensure USAID and Feed the Future M&E requirements are met on timely basis and guides data collection, management of the data, and display of the results. This includes data analysis, reporting, and dissemination, building capacity of M&E and technical staff in these areas, and ensuring compliance.
    • Develop efficient and accurate data collection system that includes efficient processes for collecting data and ensuring data quality.
    • Provide general oversight of the M&E database, using it to track progress and trends, generate reports per USAID requirements, and conduct data quality checks.
    • Design the project’s Learning Agenda including surveys, case studies, and other tools to evaluate project impact, trends, and other learnings. Provide comprehensive analysis of learning outcomes to inform project interventions.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in social sciences, computer science, or relevant field.
    • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in organizational learning, knowledge management, M&E systems for international development projects.
    • Proven record of designing and implementing data collection tools including surveys.
    • Experience managing large M&E databases and conducting timely data analysis and developing reports.
    • Experience developing and implementing learning activities a plus.
    • Familiarity with USAID M&E requirements strongly preferred; knowledge of Feed the Future M&E system desired.
    • Basic understanding of livestock/agricultural development, resilience preferred.
    • Excellent communications skills, fluency in written and spoken English required.
    • Ability to use the latest ICT technology and computer software programs, including GIS mapping software and M&E databases.

    Investment and Partnerships Director, FTF

    Responsibilities

    The Investment and Partnerships Director will carry out the following responsibilities:

    • Design activities and partnerships that expand and/or rehabilitate market infrastructure across communities in Northern Kenya.
    • Identify and shepherd through the investment cycle innovative business plans that increase access to markets and services for pastoralist communities.
    • Design partnerships, and identify needed investments, to strengthen backward and forward linkages between pastoralists, service providers, including financial institutions, and end markets.
    • Build the capacity of communities to identify priority upgrades that strengthen competitiveness and social safety nets.
    • Build awareness of producers, private sector, impact investors and financial service providers of opportunities in Northern Kenya.

    Qualifications

    • Advanced degree in degree in business administration, finance, agronomy or related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years of practical experience in facilitating investment in agricultural market systems, preferably in the livestock sector.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the economic, social, and cultural dynamics of pastoralist production systems in Northern Kenya.
    • Demonstrated networks and trust relations with pastoralist communities.
    • Demonstrated track record of working with financial service providers, investors, and private sector.
    • Demonstrated strong writing and oral presentation skills in English and Swahili.
    • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

    Livestock Productivity Director

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical leadership to activities that improve livestock productivity, which include but is not limited to animal health and nutrition, husbandry and breeding practices, herd management, and feed.
    • Design, test and scale market-led mechanisms to promote and deliver inputs and services to livestock producers.
    • Develop partnerships to increase year-round access to affordable and high quality animal feed.
    • Design embedded extension solutions to facilitate the transfer of improved livestock rearing practices to producers.
    • Improve learning and adoption of technologies and practices.

    Qualifications

    • Advanced degree in degree in veterinary science, agronomy or related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years of practical experience in livestock production and marketing, including at least 5 years spent working in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL).
    • Demonstrated track record of working with service providers in the livestock sector, including veterinary and input services.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the economic, social, and cultural dynamics of pastoralist production systems in Northern Kenya.
    • Demonstrated networks and trust relations with pastoralist communities.
    • Demonstrated strong writing and oral presentation skills in English and Swahili.
    • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Strong team player.

    Livestock Marketing Director

    Responsibilities

    • Identify market and business enabling barriers to livestock sector competitiveness, and work with project partners and stakeholders to develop private-sector led solutions.
    • Identify capacity gaps across the broad range of livestock market system actors, and facilitate capacity building plans and access to training services.
    • Design and implement a market-led strategy that incentivizes private sector investment in upgrading the livestock market infrastructure and supporting services.
    • Identify and work closely with lead and intermediate private sector firms, building their capacity on firm-led services reaching pastoralist communities.
    • Facilitate private sector investment in embedded services, expansion to rural areas, and other innovative solutions.
    • Liaise closely with financial institutions, end-markets, and service providers to increase pastoralist access to markets.
    • Promote a culture of learning across project stakeholders that leads to improved and more transparent market access, improved natural resource management, and inclusion of vulnerable groups, women and youth.

    Qualifications
