    Data Officer

    Job Purpose: You will be responsible for field-level implementation & coordination of data collection, storage, analysis and reporting at project level

    Key responsibilities
    1. Project Planning and desig
    n
    a. Participate in reviewing the goals and objectives as set out in the funded proposal
    b. Participate in project planning process including creating Project, Resource, Financial, Quality, Risk and Reporting plans
    c. Ensure effective utilization of project resources including budget control and value for money
    d. Develop quality plans to ensure the project meets the intended objectives.

    2. Data management
    a. Ensure that program data from field sites has been verified and entered in the respective programmatic databases in a timely manner, correctly and accurately ready for analysis and Reports generation.
    b. Assist in data cleaning, aggregation and basic data analysis as directed by the M&E Officer
    c. Develop data or research protocol documents for both internal and external project teams.
    d. Maintain all programs data base for information extraction when required
    e. Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.

    3. Project Monitoring& Evaluation
    a. Participate in reviewing the goals and objectives as set out in the scope of work
    b. Compile reports (narrative and data) and submit them to the M & E Officer as per the set deadlines
    a) In accordance with donor requirements, create or maintain procedures for capturing and publishing monthly, quarterly and annual project reports.

    4. Resource Mobilization
    a. Take part in resource mobilization through participation in proposal development with other program staff i.e. finance
    b. Design, implement and evaluate projects with an aspect of resource mobilization.
     
    Desired Education and Training
    a) A Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences
    b) Diploma in project management or monitoring and evaluation will be an added advantage.

    Experience and Abilities
    a) A minimum of two years’ experience in education related projects.
    b) Extensive experience in outcome mapping and reporting
    c) Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program
    d) Ability to analyze and utilize program development gaps for designing Programs.
    e) Proficient knowledge of data entry and analysis packages: SPSS and Epi Info

    Communications and Advocacy Officer

    Job Purpose: You will be responsible for strengthening of communication through enhancement of organization visibility, increase market share of organization products and relation between ICL, partners and the public.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    A. Communication Planning

    a) Participate in reviewing the goals and objectives as set out in the departmental work plan.
    b) Develop communication plans in consultation with the Communication Manager in order to accomplish goals within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards
    a) Schedule tasks, deadlines and milestones for all stakeholders and resources.

    B. Communication strategy implementation
    a) Design, develop and implement project based messages that seek to ensure smooth running of project
    b) Participate in development of the design, content and production of various ICL publications.
    c) Implement and maintain a “house style” in all ICL written Communications.
    d) Develop success stories and disseminate it through the different media platforms such as the Kenya Mpya website, Social Media, newsletter and through the print media.
    e) Implement and tracking events, campaigns and preparing post-campaign performance analysis
    f) Ensure communication and knowledge management are built into every project proposal
    g) Manage, review and update organisation website 

    C. Advocacy

    a) Plan and conduct Child Protection Training to both leaners, teachers and households on community child protection advocacy initiatives.
    b) Oversee public dialogue and policy lobbying to address the Child Protection initiatives.
    c) Engage the media around key issues affecting the girl child; raise awareness; and inform policy making.
    d) Build the capacity of the project team and community management structures in advocacy.
     
    D. Management of internal communication
    a) Manage internal communication within the organization
    b) Keeps employees informed of company events or updates, service opportunities, and upcoming product releases.
    c) Manage the social media platforms
    d) Coordinate communications projects with vendors and contractors for the development and production of educational event promotional materials, web site production and other collateral.
    e) Edit communications and strategic sales proposals and plans created by internal staff.
    f) Managing and updating databases to record donor contact and preference information.

    E. Public relation
    a) In Liaison with Communication Manager, conduct regular partner and supporter forums to retain public image and effectively manage media relations.
    b) Develop and manage print, radio and TV media campaigns to increase organization visibility
    c) Give support in developing media strategy, corporate mobilization strategy, drafting press releases, responding to media enquiries and building dialogue with journalists. 
     
    F. Education
    a) A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, Journalism, Public relation or equivalent

    G. Knowledge and skills
    a) Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications.
    b) Professional level skills in graphics and knowledge of desktop publishing for in-house graphics design and production.
    c) Professional level skills in proposal and publications development with writing and editing experience
    d) Skill in writing for a variety of audiences.
    e) Ability to write/edit in a variety of writing styles, ability to draft materials on a wide range of topics.
    f) Strong editing and proofreading skills.

    Project Outreach Associate ICT & Data

    Job Purpose: You will contribute towards implementation of ICT for learning component in the specific country of intervention. In addition, support counties in the actualization of their county strategic plans aligned to Vision 2030.
     
     
    I. Key Responsibilities
    Project implementation and training.
    a. Assist in the planning, organizing conferences, seminars and training workshops
    a. Assist in training teachers on integration of ICT in learning
    b. Assist the IT Officer in planning for ICT programs including digital curriculums
    b. Work closely with head teachers and ICT champions in each schools of intervention.
    c. Work closely with teachers to plan and organize thematic events
    d. Participate in project, organizational and institutional meetings take notes/minutes and work harmoniously with other stakeholders
    e. Assist in office administration, particularly pertaining to records and payments.

    Communication
    a. Identify and develop project human success stories
    b. Work with project team to develop picture speaks and newsletter for various activities
    c. Work with the Communication Officer to develop project communication materials
    d. Work with the Communication Officer in project and organization brand enhancement.

    Resource Mobilization
    a. Take part in resource mobilization through participation in proposal development with other program staff.
    b. Conduct donor research via the Internet to assist the project team in identifying, targeting donors and funding opportunities.

    Data Management
    a. Implement the data collection tools as provided by the donor and ICL monitoring and evaluation policies
    b. Consolidate project qualitative and quantitative data
    c. Maintain data records
    d. Ensure evaluations of training and project activities are conducted, reports written and submitted to the County Officer.
    e. Assist in preparing activity reports and monthly reports in time for team reflection meetings.

    II. Education, Experience
    a) A degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computing studies or its equivalent.
    b) A minimum of one year experience in supporting ICT for learning programs. Additional experience in project implementation in an NGO set up is an added advantage.
    c) Excellent command of computers and statistical software, especially experience with MS Access Excel, SPSS or STATA.

    Child Protection Officer

    Job Purpose. You will be responsible for field-level implementation & coordination of case management processes, monitoring and evaluation of child protection activities, as well as providing guidance to Project Officers, Assistants and Community Volunteers.
     
    Key responsibilities.
    Project Planning and design

    a) Participate in the development and design of new project proposals with enhanced child protection component.
    b) Participate in reviewing the attainment of goals and objectives as set out in the funded proposal

    Child protection implementation
    a) Assist the coordination of all project activities including preparation of work plans
    b) Ensure all Project Officers and Assistants understand the child safe guarding policy and mechanisms for reporting concerns
    c) Manage and support the individual case management and implementation of I Choose Life – Africa’s Gender, Child Protection and Do No Harm Policy and strategy.
    d) Provide support to Project staff and all project partners to ensure timely management of data and documentation of cases at the intervention with relevant Project staff, ensure records are accurately updated
    e) Maintain confidentiality, privacy in the management of case files and observe data protection and confidentiality protocols while handling both the paper based and electronic data at all stages of data management.
    f) Deliver capacity building trainings for project staff, community structures and project partners.
    g) Comply with all relevant ICL’s policies and procedures with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.

    Stakeholder management
    a) In conjunction with project staff, participate in National, County and sub-county level interagency meetings and engage in the identification and building of links with other partners/agencies, the Government and the community to ensure that issues related to child protection are raised and addressed.
    b) Collaborate and coordinate with other aid agencies, governmental institutions and other child protection organizations in order to promote cooperation and strengthen systems for children.

    Project Monitoring& Evaluation
    a) Identify and contribute to development of case studies and success stories to ensure milestones are documented and reported on
    b) Conduct regular data collection using existing tools and/or design new tools as need may be in order to track project performance on indicators and measure overall impact.
    c) Prepare timely progress reports, including both quantitative and qualitative information, on Gender, Child Protection and Do No Harm activities and input into regular reports as required.
    d) Work closely with the M&E team and project officers to conduct regular data quality checks to ensure case management information collected as part of documentation and monitoring is accurate, reliable, complete, precise, timely and has high integrity.
    e) Support in project research in collaboration with the project M&E team.

    Desired Education and Training
    a) Educated to a minimum degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent including but not limited to Gender, Anthropology, Education, Sociology or Counselling Psychology
    b) Relevant Child Protection Training, preferably a Diploma.

    Experience and Abilities
    a. Minimum 5 years proven experience in community development, girl child education, the logical framework approach and other strategic planning strategies
    b. Good understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods
    c. Planning and implementing projects in a consortium partnership including children and households
    d. Field/Project work and working with communities in marginalised areas
    e. Experience tracking/tracing program beneficiaries over a long period of time including their location, social, academic and physical growth and well being

    Assistant Project Officer - Economic Empowerment

    Job Purpose: You will oversee economic empowerment of households to increase their income, through training, value chain development, value addition, access to credit, business startup and linkage and access to market. This should serve to increase the life chances of marginalized girls in Meru, Mombasa and Laikipia counties by increasing performance, learning, transition through an integrated approach. In addition, support counties in the actualization of their county strategic plans aligned to Vision 2030. 

    Key responsibilities
    Project Planning and design
    a. Design Economic empowerment interventions responsive to context
    b. Design or review training manuals to aid in delivery of the intervention
    c. Develop project Economic Empowerment work plans
    d. Develop and maintain relevant database of data and serve as a hub of data that may be required by other stakeholders
    e. Incorporate workable empowerment model in new projects.

    Value chain development
    a) Assess the current prevailing conditions among farmers in regards to agribusiness development
    a) Develop upstream and downstream linkages for farmers
    b) Design a business model, SACCO structure, farm production plan, training manual, model farm, farm production protocols, communication plan and sponsorship protocols.
    c) Oversee Implementation of the economic empowerment designed plans for the County
    d) Monitor and evaluate and improve the economic empowerment interventions
    e) Develop replication plans to a wider geographical scope
    f) Support non-agricultural parents start small businesses.

    Project implementation and training
    a. Carry out entrepreneurship trainings of the different target groups; parents, guardians
    b. Train the parents and guardians of marginalized girls in the implementation of group savings, loans and business development skills
    c. Participate in the development and update of training materials.
    d. Forge partnerships within the project sites for the attainment of project goals.
    e. Collaborate with partners in corporate mobilization
    f. Engage business mentors and coaches to mentors and support individuals and groups to excel in their established businesses or IGAs.

    Project Monitoring& Evaluation
    a. Compile reports (narrative and data) and submit them to the Project Officer (M&E) as per the set deadlines
    b. Participate in the design, data collection and analysis of surveys and routine data
    c. Ensure proper documentation and dissemination of lessons learnt.
    d. Evaluation of training conducted.
    e. Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees.

    Education
    a) A Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences preferably in Education or agribusiness
    b) Diploma in project management will be an added advantage

    Knowledge and skills

    Assistant Project Manager

    Job Purpose: You will increase the life chances of marginalized girls in Laikipia county by improving performance, learning, transition and digital skills through the integrated ICT for learning approach. In addition, support program teachers and students in strengthening digital literacy and 21st century skills.

    Key Responsibilities
    Project Planning and design

    a) Participate in the development and design of new project proposals to enhance ICT integration and 21st century skills
    b) Participate in reviewing the attainment of goals and objectives as set out in the funded proposal.

    Project implementation and training

    b) Training and sensitization of community on importance of girl education, economic empowerment programs, ICT for learning and entrepreneurship

    f) Ensure evaluations of trainings and outreach activities are conducted and reports written and submitted to the project manager.

    Resource Mobilization

    b) Compile accurate narrative and data reports; including the set deadlines.

    Desired Education and Training
    a) A Master of Education (arts/Science) or Project Management
    b) A Bachelor’s degree in Education or its equivalent.
    c) A post graduate Diploma in project management will be an added advantage
    d) MUST hold a Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) Certificate or a be a master trainer in MOS.

    Knowledge and skills
    a) Vast working knowledge on ICT integration in education and 21st century skills
    b) Experience working with teachers in ICT integration in education

    Monitoring, Evaluation & Research Manager

    Key responsibilities 
    Research & Design
    a) Conduct or commission research in organizational project areas and present these to management and external stakeholders
    b) Utilize the research conducted in design of new projects and influence policy
    c) Lead the organization in the publishing of organizational research findings
    Planning
    a) Lead in development and implementation of Organizational M&E strategy and project’s M&E plans
    b) Oversee or commission development of monitoring and evaluation tools (including project PMPs, indicator reference sheets, and all other research tools) and orienting project staff on their proper use
    c) Participate in project planning process including Project, Resource, Financial, Quality, Risk and Reporting plans

    a) Oversee external communication on M&E reports and selected meeting and events

    c) Maintain constant communication with field based staff to ensure all information needed for project period reviews is received in time and is complete.
     
    Evaluation and Reporting
    a) Spearhead and coordinate the development and timely submission of reports for the donor, as well as other required reports by synthesizing the project activity reports from all the projects and counties.
    b) In accordance with donor requirements, create or maintain procedures for capturing and publishing monthly, quarterly and annual project technical and financial reports
    c) Lead preparation of evaluation reports and dissemination of results
    d) Develop and implement a research agenda
    e) Provide written progress updates against program/project work plans to the CEO

    Resource Mobilization
    a) Take part in resource mobilization through participation in proposal development with other program staff
    b) Design, implement and evaluate projects with an aspect of resource mobilization

    d) Execute M&E activities included in the Annual Work Plan, with particular focus on results and impacts as well as in lesson learning

    Capacity Building & Supervision
    a) Manage M&E staff and consultants
    b) Mentor and build the capacity of the M&E staff and provide supportive supervision.

    Desired Education and Training
    a) Bachelor of Science degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Math’s and Statistics as an added advantage
    b) Must have a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences/Public Health or its equivalent
    c) Training in Research with track proven capacity to conduct research, prepare policy documents and evidence of publications
    d) Demonstrated capacity to design and mobilize resources for programs using data from research.

    b) Experience in implementing USG and DfID funded projects is highly desirable
    c) Knowledge on programming highly desirable

    f) Excellent command of computers and statistical software, especially experience with MS Access and SPSS or STATA. Ability to manipulate large data sets.

    Experience and Abilities

    c) At least 7 years’ relevant experience with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management position.
    d) Experience in working in PEPFAR funded projects. Also, experience in working with EU, DfID, UN funded projects is desirable
    e) Competence in qualitative and quantitative study design and implementation as demonstrated in the samples of previous work
    f)  Extensive experience with monitoring program implementation using qualitative and quantitative approaches
    g) Experience using data analysis packages
    h) Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to communicate at all levels in English
    i)  Excellent organizational skills
    j)  Demonstrates an ability to develop institutional partnerships and build networks
