    Study Coordinator - for a Pediatric Case Finding Study

    Position Details:

    The Study Coordinator will serve as the principal administrative liaison for a study evaluating different service delivery models for finding HIV-positive children and coordinate study associated activities. S/he will assist in study planning and ensure that pre-established work scope, study protocol, and regulatory requirements are followed. S/he will also oversee and coordinate the provision of administrative services, including recruitment, supervision of research support staff and developing and maintaining recordkeeping systems and procedures.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Plan and coordinate the initiation of the study

    2. Support in maintaining all required regulatory documentation

    3. Develop standard operatingprocedures

    4. Liaise with Data Management Unit in planning, implementing, and maintain data collection and management systems in support of research activities.

    5. Plan and coordinate recruitment of research assistants as appropriate to the study

    6. Provide support for study-related training activities

    7. Develop and maintain records of research activities, and prepare periodic and ad hoc reports, as required

    8. Liaise with officials from the county and sub county health department during study implementation as appropriate.

    9. Liaise with the Public Health Evaluation Lead to provide supervisory oversightof study staff, as well as guidance and support for effective implementation

    10. Conduct periodic monitoring visits to all study facilities to ensure compliance with protocol and human subjects’ protections

    11. Coordinate provision of study updates throughout implementation and dissemination of results at the end of the study

    12. Support Public Health Evaluation lead in monitoring project expenditures and ensuring that they are in line with the budget.

    13. Participate in regular study update calls with the global investigator team

    Qualifications:

    • Diploma in Clinical medicine or BSC Nursing degree with 3-5 years of operations research experience. Master in Public Health will be an added advantage.
    • 3-5 years of proven experience working with health programs in Kenya

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to work well independently and within a team

    • Knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS issues in the health sector

    • Understanding of research methodologies and research ethics

    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication

    • Fluency in English and Kiswahili 

    • Ability to manage/coordinate data collection staff

    • Experience with quantitative data is strongly preferred

    Data Clerks- UNITAID Project

    Job Summary

    Under the guidance of the UNITAID project Impact Study Lead, the Data Assistants (DAs) will support impact evaluation of the POC EID implementation through; Identification of study participants at study sites, consenting study participants, data abstraction, one on one interview with clients where necessary.

    Key Responsabilités

    The Data Assistants will work with EGPAF UNITAID POC EID Impact Study lead to ensure timely and accurate data collection and management. Specific roles shall include;

    • Consenting study participants

    • Data abstraction form Patient Charts/registers

    • Interviewing study participants

    • Data entry in study databases

    • Assisting in basic analysis of data

    • Assisting in transcriptions and data coding as appropriate

    • Work closely with respective SI/M&E Officers, other program staff and facility staff to support documentation at supported facilities

    • Ensuring confidentiality of study participants information

      Required Qualifications

    • < >Bachelors in Health Information Management Systems, Biostatics, Social Science, IT, Health Records and Information or related field from a recognized institution of higher learning.

      Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Research; consenting participants, conducting patient chart abstraction, one on one interviews

    • Familiar with national HMIS and NASCOP EID system and reporting requirements

    • Ability to work effectively in a busy, high pressure team environment

    • Ability to prioritize workload and demonstrate outcomes on strict deadlines

    • Commendable knowledge & skill in public health research

    • Strong analytical skills

    • Strong oral and written communications skills
