    Internal Auditor

    Job Framework

    The purpose of this role is to provide an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve MSK’s operations. It helps MSK accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. The key responsibilities of the role are the management of the risk register reporting regularly on mitigation actions taken against agreed indicators; the review of policies and systems required to support the management of risk; the independent investigation of key areas of concern that arise; and review of Board compliance.

    The primary responsibility of this role is to further our Goal: THE PREVENTION OF UNWANTED BIRTHS and its mission of ensuring the individual’s right to: CHILDREN BY CHOICE NOT CHANCE

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Management of the Risk Register
      Activities to include:
      a. Establishment and review of the MSK Risk Register to be reviewed by DIA and approved by the Board
      b. Identification of data and indicators to be monitored by directors monthly and reported to Board quarterly in relation to Finance, Human Resources, Procurement and Logistics, Commercial activities, Clinical Quality, and Programme Operations
      c. Revision of risk assessments and introduction of new ones as need arises
      d. Updating and maintaining the risk register
      e. Updating and maintaining the fraud and gift register
    2. Review of Policies and Systems
      Activities to include:
      a. Review of all policies and systems and recommendations for amendment
      b. Agreement of minimum standards against each policy area
      c. Monitoring of review timetable
      d. Testing of effectiveness through regular visits and checks
      e. Recommendations for amendments arising from review of implementation
      f. Follow up reviews for implementation of agreed recommendations
    3. Independent investigation of key areas of concern that arise.
      Activities to include:
      a. Discreet investigations into issues of concern identified by Management
      b. Responses to whistle blowing
      c. Prompt reports and recommended actions
    4. Reporting & External audit
      Activities to include:
      a. Timely Quarterly and activity reports and Internal audit findings to DIA & EMT
      b. Annual summary IA reports on status of all recommendations
      c. Support external MSK audit process
    5. People and administration
      a. To supervise, appraise, coach and manage the MSK Internal Audit assistants and roving cashiers
      b. Review team’s field expenses and accountabilities
      c. Perform other related roles as requested by management
    6. General IA audit work
      a. Develop team audit plans and present them to DIA for review
      b. Develop audit and maintain programmes for different processes and controls
      c. Support management in making value for money audits
      d. Develop and maintain work papers
      e. Review Audit assistant’s work papers and field reports

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in Commerce, Finance, or any other relevant discipline
    • Hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACMA, CGMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIA) (Desirable)
    • Be a registered with a professional body.
    • Thorough knowledge of the principles, procedures and practises of accounting, auditing, financial records and transactions.
    • Ability to write clear concise and accurate audit reports in English essential
    • Familiar with integrated accounting systems
    • Familiar with computer aided audit techniques

    Skills and Experience:

    • 5 years experience of using and implementing audit procedures, including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods.
    • Experience of using computerised accounting and auditing record keeping systems.
    • Experience of establishing and retaining effective working relationships with staff and ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present high quality, high value added concise oral and written reports in English.
    • Ability to maintain current knowledge of developments related to business matters of interest to internal audit, particularly legislation changes and developments as they affect charities, and new auditing techniques and practises.
    • Experience of utilizing computer aided audit techniques
    • Experience of auditing compliance with complex & high impact donor Agreements
    • Experience of influencing colleagues at all levels of a major international organisation
    • A skilled negotiator
    • A clear attention to detail
    • Self-sufficient and able to set and meet own work plan timetables

    Marketing Intern

    Key Responsibilities 

    The post has the following responsibilities:

    • Together with the marketing officer, design marketing communication materials in line with the organization’s brand guidelines.
    • Offer support to channel teams in holding campaigns in universities/colleges, organized groups, public and work places.
    • Providing linkage and visibility during activities and events within the country that will give MSK brand visibility and recognition.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, media or Public relations.

    Experience, skills and attributes:

    • Knowledge or experience in developing marketing communication tools for a variety of audiences, specially for healthcare and non-profit organizations, either professional or voluntary in nature.
    • Ability to do design work is highly desirable.
    • Ability to coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams from different departments and locations.
    • Dynamic, ambitious, flexible, and quickly adaptable.
    • Able to prioritize workload and work to deadlines with quick turnaround

    Communication Campaign Consultant

    Key Qualifications and Experience

    • The Consultant should have at least 5 years’ experience designing strategic communication campaigns
    • Experience in interacting with key stakeholders in Kenya who may include, but not limited to religious leaders, Ministry of Youth and Gender – Directorate of Social
    • Services, Gender and Youth, the Children’s department, Child Rights protection partners, teachers, guardians and parents.

    ITH Role in the assignment

    • ITH will provide technical oversight, quality assurance as well as quality control for the exercise as necessary
    • Facilitate report validation by relevant stakeholders
    • Technical support from the research, monitoring and evaluation
    • Provide relevant project documents for review

    Proposal Specifications

    The interested consultant must include in their application a detailed technical and financial proposal with the following components:

    • Show a clear understanding and interpretation of the TOR
    • Methodology & proposed process to be used in undertaking the assignment
    • A timetable detailing the number of days, deadlines and people required (if more than 1) per each task
    • Suggested means of measuring impact (M&E support will be offered by the partnership)
    • A prioritised plan (within available budget)
    • Mode of payment and timeframe
    • Quotation must include VAT, if applicable and withholding tax
    • Validity period of the quotation.

    Interested consultant to include as Annex:

    • CVs of all key staff outlining relevant experience
    • Samples of 2 most recent related campaign assignments (and/ or references for the same).
    • Consulting firm profile
    • Copy of PIN certificate, Copy of VAT Certificate (if applicable)

    A contract will be awarded and drafted to the successful bidder in accordance with MSK / ITH conditions for consultancy contracts.
