    Tally Assistant

    STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Successful completion of secondary school education (KCSE). Training and/or experience using MS Office is desirable

    JOB PURPOSE

    To tally commodities and assist in stacking and physical inventory activities to maximise accuracy and efficiency of commodity management.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

    • Supervise the loading, off-loading and stacking of the commodities and assist the Storekeeper to keep updated records on stack cards, and/or computer inventory lists
    • Make appropriate remarks on the consignor’s documents & on WFP tally sheets when differences are observed between consigned and received quantities;
    • Supervise cleaning exercise after loading and off-loading and reconstitution exercise when required;
    • Check and control incoming goods both food and non-food commodities by such methods as physical counts, random weight checks, rejection of any spoiled commodity, reconditioning of underweight bags, etc to ascertain that they meet the required specifications and to report anomalies, if any;
    • Prepare the delivery of goods upon request of the storekeeper and against official and approved documentation;
    • Participate in periodic physical inventory checks as assigned by the storekeeper;
    • Report and, in consultation with the storekeeper, undertake re-bagging/re-packing, reconstitution and segregation of damaged food;
    • Implement proper stacking according to commodity and Shipping Instruction (SI) numbers;
    • Prepare dispatch tally sheets for commodities issued from the warehouse;
    • Distribute tally sheets to the users as per WFP guidelines;
    • Record all commodity receipts, issues and disposals on stack cards;
    • Assist the storekeepers’ supervision and training of casual labour or contractor/Service Provider’s staff;
    • Perform other related duties as required.

    • Ability to handle a large volume of food and non-food items in a well organised manner under time constraints;

    Scope - Web Developer/Programmer

    Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority): Working in the SCOPE Unit, the Web developer will work under the supervision of the SCOPE service desk manager in charge of the SSD and in close collaboration with other developers and system analysts. The Web developer’s main tasks will be to support the core services of SSD using Python and Django framework and will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Support the service desk by writing python scripts for modification of data in scope.
    • Provide data extraction reports as per SCOPE users’ requests.
    • Troubleshooting of core SCOPE tools
    • Analyze user needs to determine technical requirements
    • Mapping the business processes
    • Perform other related duties as required.
    • Perform the activities under the direct supervision of the SSS support lead and undertake additional tasks as required; work a shift system as per the roster. (The service operates from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at weekends and public holidays. Shift duty is mandatory)

    Qualification and Experience

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other relevant field.

    Scope Senior IT Assistant (Service Desk Analyst)

    Responsibilities

    Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority): Working in the SCOPE Unit, under the direct supervision of the SCOPE Service Support Manager, the Senior IT Assistant (Service Desk Analyst) will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Work in a shift as per the roster (the service operates on 24/7/365 basis. Shift duty is mandatory including nights and weekend shifts.)
    • Manage the resolution of problems, design knowledge base, workaround and presentation on the known errors:
    • Monitor the implementation of policies, procedures and standards of SCOPE and make the necessary corrections where necessary; participate in change advisory board;
    • Identify commonly recurring requests for assistance and provide advice on how these can be prevented or minimized, through training, user awareness, changes in configuration etc.
    • Receive incidents and service requests through phone, email or any other medium and log them as tickets in the Incident Management System. To assign the priority to the tickets based on Urgency and Impact of the issue;
    • Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex IT problems for end-users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions for remote users as needed;
    • Troubleshoot the issues by remote connection to user’s machine under different environments. To troubleshoot, interpret problems by using manual or automated diagnostic programs, and resolve recurring technical difficulties.
    • Carry out Configuration Management to track Configuration Items (Cis) and the dependencies between them, such as but not limited to SCOPE devices. Communicate with clients and follow up on all open and pending tickets. Log issues and escalate tickets to various technical groups where necessary
    • Maintain a very high level of FCR (First Contact Resolution Rate) to regularly develop troubleshooting flowcharts, utilization and contribution to knowledge management resources to achieve faster resolution and higher FCR
    • Perform the activities under the direct supervision of the SSS support lead and undertake additional tasks as required; work a shift system as per the roster. (The service operates from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at weekends and public holidays. Shift duty is mandatory)

    Qualification and Experience

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other relevant field.

    Desirable Skills: IT consultant with software analysis profile, familiar with WFP delivery mechanism processes, electronic money transfer systems and SCOPE platform.

    Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English is essential

    Intern - Scope Web Developer/Programmer

    ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

    The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under the WFP Regional Bureau for East and Central Africa, RBN in the SCOPE unit. The position will be based at the RBN office in Nairobi, Kenya. The Internship will be for period of 6 months.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

    Working in the SCOPE Unit, the intern will work under the supervision of the SCOPE service desk manager in charge of the SSD and in close collaboration with other developers and system analysts.     TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    • Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.

    Intern - Monitoring and Evaluation

    Description

    The selected candidate, under the direct supervision of the M&E programme officer will support the regional programme unit in researching how government, World Bank and other organisations monitor and assess the results of Social Programme as well as support the quality analysis of post distribution monitoring and food security outcome monitoring to inform operational decision making and strategic reorientation.

    Key duties may include but are not limited to the following:

    • Research and document how the results of social programs have been measured worldwide, including but not limited to the field of international development and humanitarian assistance – and present the key approaches and indicators used across organization and time to measure the results of social programme. This will include:
    • detailed literature reviews, synthesis and analysis of the relevant information gathered;
    • meeting and interviewing key stakeholders involved in social programme to understand how they measure results – including a summary of key conclusion from these meetings and a list of the people and organization met;
    • Contribute to Country level qualitative and quantitative M&E analysis of monitoring data (process and outcome monitoring) and support the production of reports that inform and provide recommendations to programme;
    • Perform other related duties as required

    Essential Requirements

    • Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 6 months’ preferably in Sociology, Social Development, Development Economics, Food Security, Environment, Statistic or Performance Management or other relevant field;
    • Strong interpersonal skills and cultivated relationships with office colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds, local NGOs, government authorities, and other implementation partners;
    • Research experience: including literature review – collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data using a variety of tools and approaches;
    • Understanding and experience with social programs is a strong advantage
    • Excellent knowledge of working with datasets and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Experience or proven interest in monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian interventions and assessments;
    • Fluency in both oral and written English is essential; working knowledge in a second official WFP language preferably French would be a strong added advantage.
    • Aptitude to working with datasets and with cutting-edge information technology is an advantage
    • Knowledge of and experience with statistics (descriptive and inferential) and statistical software (SPSS) is an advantag
