    Financial Analyst

    Job description

    Can you evaluate the financial situation of an organization, build financial tools and generate appropriate solution based reports? Are you an analytical professional seeking to deeply understand your clients and their businesses? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced startup environment?

    Momentum Credit provides working capital solutions to small businesses and individuals. The Financial Analyst will play a crucial role to drive the organization’s movement towards data-driven decision making.

    The successful candidate will report to the Business Development Officer/Finance Director. Momentum Credit believes in allowing its team to explore their potential and they fully support each member at each phase of their career progression towards career growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Daily
      • Monitor customer complaints by ensuring adequate complaint escalation and resolution.
      • Maintain detailed report on complaints including TAT.
      • Design, create and present complete financial models as assigned by supervisor and Propose areas of concern which require modelling.
      • Prepare analysis work as may be assigned by Supervisor.
      • Handle short/long term special projects which include creating a budgeting tool, designing a Cash flow forecasting tool for Finance and ideating stress techniques to simulate business scenarios.
      • Review product performance reports by 10:30 am .
    • Weekly
      • Attend the meetings and make a meaningful contribution including presenting prepared reports in weekly management meetings and preparing high-level pipeline reports for Exco meetings.
      • Provide sales performance reports on all Sales Representatives.
      • Support marketing activities by ensuring all marketing materials are available for scheduled activities and maintaining and accounting for the marketing budget.
      • Support product development by monitoring the performance of all deal pipelines across all products and reporting on lost pipelines and customer complaints.
      • Translate new ideas into actual numbers to see if they contribute positively or negatively to the overall goal of MCL.
    • Monthly
      • Ensure staff inductions are followed up on and encompass all business units.
      • Support product development through competitor product analysis, leveraging market best practice and monitoring third-party/authorized panels performance.
      • Prepare budgetary reports as requested by management ensuring to update and consolidate this data.
    • Quarterly
      • Update training and coaching schedules based on changes in products and introduction of new products
      • Prepare and present a report on changes in the competitive landscape on key parameters as specified by management
      • Reviews budgets to ensure that they are in line with the evolving strategy while ensuring to update and consolidate this data.
    • Annually
      • Prepare annual budgets in October

    Minimum Requirements:

    • 2 years relevant work experience with at least 1 year in an analytical position and or a financial position
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
    • CPA (K) is an added advantage
    • Experience preparing reports and proficient in Excel
    • Strong analytical skills with an appreciation of risk management
    • Strong strategic thinker with self-determination
    • Highly motivated and ambitious individual with unquestionable integrity

    Management Accountant

    Job description

    Can you advise managers about the financial implications of business decisions to aid growth and profit? Are you passionate about interpreting financial information? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced startup environment?

    Momentum Credit provides working capital solutions to small businesses and individuals. The Management Accountant will play a crucial role in handling essentially all financial matters and thus helping to drive the business’s overall management and strategy. Broadly, this role combines accounting, finance and management with the techniques needed to drive successful business.

    The successful candidate will report to the Finance Director and will not supervise any staff initially. Momentum Credit believes in allowing its team to explore their potential and they fully support each member at each phase of their career progression towards career growth.

    Picture of Success:

    Success shall be evaluated on the progress of attaining the following goals:

    • Daily
      • Ensure that all general ledgers and their subsidiaries reconcile at the end of the day
      • Analyze movements to ensure that they are in line with policies and procedures
      • Work out product allocations and ensure that all costs are apportioned appropriately to all products by COB 3
      • Ensure that intercompany accounts reconcile at the close of business
      • Ensure that inter Branch accounts are NIL by COB
      • Compute expected repayments (P&I) and reconcile to ensure that the system accounts for the same accurately. Ensure Loan repayments are as per expectations by the system
      • Ensure correct allocation of P&I every day
      • Ensue that tax is recorded and reconciles daily and returns are filed appropriately by COB
      • Conduct due diligence on all financial reports to ensure that they reflect a true and fair position of the business every COB.
      • Maintain an updated Debt Treasury Register
    • Weekly
      • Attend the meetings and make a meaningful contribution
      • Prepare and submit consolidated General ledger. Reconciliation to be completed every Friday
      • Update treasury management report every Friday by 5:00 PM
    • Monthly
      • Produce a General Ledger Reconciliation for all
      • Work out product allocations and ensure that all costs are apportioned appropriately to all products by last day of the month
      • Ensure that intercompany accounts reconcile before the last day of the month
      • Ensure that inter Branch accounts are NIL by the last day of the month
      • Reconcile the loan repayments versus expected receipts by the last day of the month
      • Ensure that tax is recorded and reconciles against returns by the last day of the
      • Verify management accounts to ensure that they represent a true and fair position of MCL business, before presentation to management
      • Maintain an updated Debt Treasury Register
      • Review budgets to advice on the variances and better ways of resource allocation
      • Reconcile lease agreements to ensure that invoicing has been done accurately
      • Prepare investors reports in accordance with the requirements
    • Quarterly
      • Prepare audit schedules

    Minimum Requirements:

    • 2 Years relevant work experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
    • CPA(K)
    • The ability to work as part of a team
    • Excellent analytical and numerical abilities
    • Accuracy and an eye for detail
    • Strong strategic thinker with a deep desire to win
    • Highly motivated and ambitious individual with unquestionable integrity
