    Head of Flight Operations Training

    Job Description

    Role Purpose

    To develop and implement training policies to achieve high standards and best practice.

    Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

    • In conjunction with the Director Flight Operations, Group Director HR and the Head of Training, Education and Development, develop, implement and monitor the training schedules and programmes in close consultation with the Chief Fleet Instructor, Fleet Managers and Flight Operations managers to ensure that training needs are adequately budgeted for, planned, monitored, delivered and evaluated.
    • Analyse and prioritize Flight Operations training programmes based on the functional needs to ensure they are aligned to the identified need.
    • Implement Flight Operations Training programme to enhance staff performance and ensure compliance with KCAA requirements.
    • Supervise the activities of the trainers and examiners to ensure their optimal utilization and output.
    • Monitor and evaluate Flight Operations Training Programmes using questionnaires, discussions with respective controlling officers and LOSA.
    • In liaison with Director Flight Operations, Group Director HR and Head of Training, Education and Development, monitor and control functional and Flight Operations training budget for efficient and effective cost management.
    • In consultation with Director Flight Operations, Group Director HR and Head of Training, Education and Development, evaluate the sourcing of external facilities and trainers as and when required to ensure adherence to quality standards and ROI.
    • In consultation with Chief Fleet Instructors and Training Captains, design and maintain standards for certification in various Flight Operations disciplines to certify competency levels and regulatory requirements.
    • In conjunction with Director Flight Operations, Group Director HR and Head of Training Education and Development evaluate the impact of Flight Operations training programmes annually and measure the success of the training programmes, the change in behaviours and improvement in staff performance and avail statistics for planning and budgeting for training.
    • Plan, review and update annual training calendars in close collaboration with the user so as to incorporate programmes within the work schedules.
    • Conduct training as listed in the Training Manual and any other training as and when necessary for users to help address specific work issues.
    • Develop capacity of trainers to enhance their performance and Career development and to keep up with changing technology.
    • In consultation with Director Flight Operations, Group Director HR, and Head of Training, Education and Development, source and maintain resource materials for reference and training, including the Training Manual and ensure they are duly updated.
    • Ensure business needs and legal statutory minimum requirements are met.
    • Ensure training needs are efficiently and effectively delivered.
    • Ensure training meets quality management requirements for Flight Operations.
    • Implement routine monitoring for safety, security and quality control activities to ensure ongoing conformity with all regulatory requirements, organization standards and local procedures.
    • Ensure corrective and preventative actions identified by quality& safety audits; investigations or other internal reporting mechanisms are undertaken within the agreed time frame.
    • Liaise with regulatory authorities, original equipment manufacturers and other operationally relevant external entities.

    In carrying out the above roles the Head of Flight Operations Training shall put emphasis on the following tasks:

    • General administration and efficient running and handling of ground courses, simulator and base training to the required standard on all company fleets.
    • Planning, devising and implementing detailed syllabi for the required courses, whether full-time, part-time or refreshers in accordance with the general requirement laid down by the Chief Pilot.
    • Ensuring availability of training aids, courses, notes etc.
    • Evaluation of any new equipment for both technical and emergency training.
    • Implementing suitable training programmes for third party operators.
    • Maintaining good morale and high standard of discipline and conduct among the ground instructors at all times.
    • Provision and amendment of the Flight Operations Training Manual.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, Experience

    The preferred candidate;

    • Has or must have held an airline transport pilot license; and
    • Three years’ experience as Pilot In Command in Commercial Air Transport operations of Kenya Airways operated aircraft.
    • Has excellent communication, interpersonal & presentation skills.
    • Has strong organizational, planning and Analytical Skills.
    • Has proficiency in the use of IT.
    • Has taken a Training of Trainers course.
    • Has a University Degree in Social Sciences or is a Senior Instructor Captain with three years’ relevant training experience.

    HR Business Partner

    Job Description

    Description

    This role will act as a consultant to the functional business unit leader as well as provide guidance and support to the allocated departments across all areas on human resources matters. In liaison with the Principal HRB Partner act as employee’s champion and change agent, assessing and anticipating HR-related needs and communicating them proactively with the HR department and Business Units.

    • Function as an internal consultant to management and function employees by helping them identify and resolve issues, encouraging excellent management practices, anticipating internal organization issues, proposing solutions, and understanding/representing the employee perspective.
    • In liaison with the Principal HR Business Partner, provide HR guidance and support to the allocated business units across a breadth of areas including talent management, employee development, performance management, change management and employee relations.
    • In liaison with the Principal HR Business Partner / Head of HR Business Partners facilitate talent reviews and succession planning discussions and work with the business units to ensure plans are actively put into practice.
    • Assist with labor relations initiatives, assuring compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement as well the company rules and regulations.
    • Using the approved manpower plan, recruit for the vacant positions.
    • Prepare Business function Human Resource forecasts in consultation with Principal HR Business Partner and Business Unit Heads in scoping and justification of proposed and existing roles in line with the business strategy by recommending optimal staff establishment.

    Turnaround Coordinator NB.Passenger Ramp Services

    Description

    Role Purpose Statement:

    To ensure and maintain a healthy, safe, Secure and working environment, in compliance with the relevant industry regulatory and legislative requirements, company procedures, regulatory authorities and requirement of the customer airlines

    Adhere to accurate Loading and offloading by delegation coordinate, oversee and supervise the activities for the overall aircraft turnaround.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Embrace and maintain a positive safety culture, a healthy and secure management of the turnaround process whilst complying with company procedures/processes, regulatory authorities and requirements of customer airlines.
    • Ascertaining all aspects of aircraft preparation in readiness for loading/offloading as per standard operating procedures.
    • Ensure compliance between loading instructions and load presented.
    • Provide leadership and direct supervision to a team of staff who are undertaking all loading and equipment operations activities associated with turnaround.
    • Champion ramp safety by effectively reducing ramp incidents and accidents and improving awareness and ensure healthy, safe and secure working environment.
    • Ensure on time and ascertain proper completion of loading and offloading of cargo and baggage for efficient service delivery for both KQ and customer airlines.
    • Report torn, leaking and oversize packaging and defective ULD’s before loading and when offloading
    • Ensure bulk load is correctly secured and lashing/load spreading is correct.
    • Ensure that special loads, including Dangerous Goods are stowed according to regulations and Carriers operating procedures.
    • Upon completion of loading, confirm or advise deviations to the Load controller.
    • Ensure correct baggage reconciliation procedures are met and documentation completed before aircraft departure
    • In absence of a dedicated Turnaround coordinator wide body, be the central point of liaison with all stakeholders.
    • Raise casual operators forms to ensure billing for service rendered.
    • Monitor sequence activity against agreed station turnaround plan and timings.
    • Establish and maintain constant ground to cockpit communication in a clear and precise manner (if authorized and when required to do so)
    • Identify and report hazards, near misses, incidents and accident within the turn around process.
    • Adhere to KQ WAY principals and best practices.

    Qualifications

    Analyst Finance

    Description

    Role Description:

    Maintain and provide sound, accurate and up-to date financial records, business performance reports, decision support , financial analytics and performance drivers to guide the management in formulating strategic plans and tactical decisions.

    Detailed Description:

    • Prepare weekly, monthly and periodic management accounts as well as financial/statistical information to measure business performance in order to guide in making informed decisions.
