    Child Protection BID Officer

    Role Purpose:

    The role will primarily focus on quality and timely processing of Best Interest determination (BID) cases for children in the refugee camp in the pursuit of durable solutions to the issues faced by children. This will require close coordination and liaison with UNHCR protection unit as well as the members of CPWG. The holder of this role will also provide leadership to the BID team and ensure teams are fully supported and enabled to deliver.

    Key Roles include:

    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Manage and support the individual case management through BIA & BID development processes in the field offices.
    • Provide mentorship and support to the community supervisors and workers through on the job training and guidance to enhance their case management skills and competencies.
    • Design a capacity building strategy for BID community workers and other stakeholders involved in the of BIA & BID process.
    • Actively participate in interagency coordination meetings such as BID panels, CPWG and Case conferences both at DMO and in the field office.
    • Analyse training schedules for the BID community workers and provide technical support and guidance for effective implementation of BID/BIA process.
    • Ensure timely management of data and documentation of cases at camp level; and through coordination with MEAL assistants ensure children records, data are accurately recorded in the CPIMS database and updated regularly with case progress.
    • Contribute to the design of an overall programme contingency plan when needed.
    • Provide BID Supervisors with technical support regarding complex cases or specific technical difficulties.
    • Produce timely progress reports, including both quantitative and qualitative information, on Child Protection activities and input into regular situation reports, monthly and quarterly reports.
    • Ensure correct management of BID/BIA documentation at camp level.
    • Manage and coordinate the planning of the Camp Child Protection activities to ensure minimal disruption to programme Activities-Including staffing issues and office administration; to ensure effective management of programme resources.
    • Facilitate regular interviews and home visits with relevant persons who can give information on the child (the child, his/her family, leader, teacher, neighbour).
    • Participate in camp level interagency meetings and engage in the identification and building of linkages with other partners/agencies, the Government and the community to ensure that issues related to child protection are raised and addressed.
    • Comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.
    • Manage BID community workers staff annual leave and time off ensuring minimal disruption to programme activities.
    • Collect required data and coordinate with the MEAL team on a monthly basis and ensure data is correctly captured.
    • Identify and build links with other partners, ensuring that issues for child protection are raised and addressed
    • Coordinate the identification, follow up of children in alternative care and, monitoring of foster parents/Guardianship.
    • Ensure the placement of children in alternative care adhere to SCI procedure and with the Kenya alternative care guidelines (Guidelines for Alternative Care of Children in Kenya 2011)

    Contract Duration: 9 Months with possibilities of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Essential
    • Good communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
    • Demonstrated ability to handle to a large BID/Case management case load.
    • Graduate degree in social work / social sciences or equivalent with preferably 5 years work experience in social work or with development-related organisations.
    • Good IT skills including the use of Word and database software.
    • Demonstrable ability to adapt to changing programme priorities and emergency priorities that may arise.
    • Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
    • Positive attitude towards community work with emphasis on the ability to learn from communities and support innovative approaches to problem solving.
    • Commitment to Save the Children’s Child Protection Policy.

    Desirable

    • Experience and skills in management of staff
    • Strong understanding and experience of Case management process.
    • Experience in designing and facilitating training sessions.
    • Experience in working in an insecure environment.
    • Experience in documenting and presenting BID cases in an inter agency panel.

    Regional Supply Chain Intern

    Role Purpose:

    The Regional Procurement Unit is a part of Save the Children’s East Africa Regional Office. The Supply Chain intern will provide support to the Regional Procurement Coordinator and other members of the Regional Procurement Unit Team

    Business Intelligence Architect

    Role Purpose:

    The role holder will be responsible for designing, building, implementing and supporting Business Intelligence (BI) solutions within the organisation. This role will partner with business stakeholders in order to understand their requirements, and ensure effective delivery of analytical capabilities to meet their needs, utilising best practices and state of the art technologies. He will contribute to the definition of Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence and Data Analytics roadmap for SCI, leading measurable improvements in providing the stakeholders with timely and accurate information in order to effectively implement our strategy.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Ensure clear understanding and documentation of enterprise business intelligence and reporting requirements across the organization.
    • Provide the organisation with accurate and timely BI solutions based on requirements gathered through business partnering activities
    • Estimate and deliver BI project tasks to agreed prioritisation and timeframes
    • Proactively identify any technical project risks/issues related to BI
    • Maintain and support existing BI solutions
    • Manage the architecture, design, development and delivery of major new elements and enhancements to the data warehouse and reporting capabilities inside SCI
    • Provide technical leadership to the BI Development team based in an overseas Technical Hub
    • Properly document existing and target architecture, processes and technological choices
    • Proactively source new and innovative solutions that provide clear business value and construct ‘proof of concepts’ to demonstrate the new solutions
    • Provide governance in line with regulatory requirements and charity policies.

    Contract duration: 2 years

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Essential

    • Bachelor degree in computer Science, or Management information systems or equivalent experience.
    • Proven experience in designing, building and deploying Data Warehouse and BI solutions in complex organisations.
    • Extensive knowledge of data warehouse reference architectures.
    • Experience in shaping large reporting and analytics programmes.
    • Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft BI stack (SQL server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, PowerBI, Excel PowerPivot).
    • Experience in leading Business Intelligence delivery teams.
    • Ability to convert strategic priorities and goals into operational plans.
    • Experience in providing self-service reporting tools such as KPIs and dashboards to a global audience.
    • Experience of working closely with non-technical staff, demonstrating an ability to translate and negotiate non-technical requirements into a detailed technical specification.
    • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with a proven ability to explain complex technical ideas and problems clearly to non-experts,
    • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and strong problem solving skills
    • Cultural awareness and experience of delivering solutions internationally

    Desirable

    • Non-profit sector knowledge/experience
    • Experience of working within an agile project delivery environment
    • Experience of working in a global team with offshore project team members
