Mercy Corps Ventures (MCV) is it’s impact investing arm and manages a seed stage impact investment fund (the Social Venture Fund) designed to help early-stage entrepreneurs overcome barriers to growth by providing capital and targeted post investment support. The Mercy Corps Ventures Internship involves working with the Mercy Corps Ventures team on specific post-investment support projects with portfolio companies, as well as spearheading the development of scalable technical assistance tools and systems. Based in Nairobi, the MCV Intern will work with the Venture Growth Unit to provide post-investment support to portfolio companies operating in East Africa and West Africa. In coordination with the Head of Venture Growth, the MCV Intern will define, scope and engage with portfolio ventures to provide technical assistance, strategic or operational advisory, or other focused support. She/he/they will support the development of offerings, tools, and systems that scale the support of the Venture Growth Unit to its portfolio companies.

In addition to the primary work streams above, the MCV Intern will join all team calls and gain exposure to the entire investment lifecycle. He/she/they may have the opportunity to assist in the technical evaluation of investment opportunities.

Final deliverables will be determined two-weeks prior to the start of the internship. Specific projects are designed based on the fluctuating demands of portfolio companies. A successful candidate has a broad toolkit, and will be able to dive into an array of different types of technical assistance projects.
