Network IP Lead at Airtel

Job description

JOB PURPOSE

The role holder will be a Subject Matter Expert on IP Network & Services for Strategic Planning, Technology Evolution, Standardization & Optimization. Work with Airtel Africa OpCos and the Airtel Head Office team to ensure end-to-end network service delivery across internal and partner organizations. Ensure internal and external SLAs & KPIs are proactively managed and achieved

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Proactive engagement with business teams by advising Network Features and functionalities on IP/ MPLS / Segment routing and supporting them to create business plans
• Requirement capturing through business engagements and evaluating long term impact on IP Network
• Establishment of highly reliable and redundant IP network; Establish a robust quality improvement plan
• Develop a long-term Network Deployment strategy for IP Network including Capex Productivity & most cost efficient design
• Ensure proper Capacity Planning and dimensioning for all IP Infrastructure (MPBN, IP MPLS infrastructure, POP routers, Access IPRAN, Enterprise network) nodes are in line with agreed capacity management guidelines;
• Ensure network resilience and redundant for all IP Infrastructure Network and Nodes in line with agreed Network availability KPIs;
• Provide technical center of excellence for IP Infrastructure related issues;
• Report and maintain an updated Network diagrams and HW/SW release management of the IP Infrastructure network.
• Continuous & sustained engagements with existing & potential suppliers for evaluating best IP Network roadmap for every OpCo
• Create White Papers, IP network specifications & tendering requirements
• Plan IP Network Blue-print for Long Term deployment
• Perform proactive monitoring of Key Performance Indicators related to IP Infrastructure (MPBN, IP MPLS infrastructure, POP routers, access IPRAN, Enterprise network, etc.) networks;
• Ensure an efficient usage of the IP Infrastructure nodes and interfaces

COMPETENCIES

• Strong in IP & MPLS networking
• Knowledge of Segment routing, IP services and implementation strategy in Telco domain
• Multivendor IP products knowledge.
• Strategic Planning for IP and MPLS based Services for access IPRAN and MPBN networks
• Micro level understanding of evolution of technology and roadmaps at techno-commercial level
• Ability to innovate and deliver value to business at multiple levels

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor of Engineering degree (communication, electronics, or related fields)
• Sound knowledge of IP Network Planning, Optimization and O&M
• 8+ years of experience in IP and Networking domain.
• 2+ years management experience in network Performance /Optimization/ Planning/ O&M
• Understanding of multiple technologies in Voice, data and Infra domains
