    Assistant Director Sports

    Job Details

    • In-charge of planning and implementation of sports activities;
    • Coordinate sports activities in the county; and
    • Prepare regular reports.

    Qualifications

    • Must have served in comparable and relevant position in the public service for a minimum period of five (5) years;
    • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, or Physical Education, sports administration, social sciences, or Fine Art or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
    • A relevant post graduate qualification from a recognized institution would be an added advantage;
    • Have attended a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from Kenya School of Government;

    Director Vocational Training

     

    Responsibilities

    • An officer at this level will be deployed as the head of vocational training and shall carry out the following functions;
    • Coordinating, initiation, formulating and implementing policies on vocational training;
    • Advising on implementation of vocational training circular and co-curricular activities to maintain standards;
    • Oversee assessment of upcoming Vocational Training Centres’ (VTCs’) capacity for registration as training institution and examination centres;
    • Strengthen strategic partnerships and collaborations among stakeholders on revitalization, rehabilitation and promotion of vocational training;
    • Ensuring resources are mobilized to support vocational training;
    • Coordinating management and disbursement of vocational training support grants;
    • Supporting innovative initiatives and business incubations in VTCs;
    • Undertaking research and consultancy on issues of vocational training;
    • Building capacity in VTCs by conducting regular Human Resource planning;
    • Coordinating establishment of functional Board of management in VTCs;
    • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications

    • Served in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of ten (10) years;
    • Master’s degree in any of the following discipline: Technology education, Public administration or entrepreneurship education;
    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Education or technology education from a recognized institution;
    • Post graduate Diploma in Technical Teacher Education;

    Director Trade Development

    Job Details

    • Ensure management and administration of trade and business development services;
    • Chief adviser on issues relating to trade and trade development in the county;
    • Develop policies related to trade;
    • Offer leadership in conducting research on trade and related issues for the county;
    • Develop training proposals on trade development;
    • Market the county as an investment destination;
    • Monitor and evaluate trade development projects and programmes;
    • Development of SME’s engaged in trade;

    Qualifications

    For appointment to this position, the officer must meet the following:

    • Served in a comparable and relevant position in the Public Service for a minimum period of ten (10) years;
    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Economics, International Trade/Business/Relations, Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Finance or any related field from a recognized institution;

    Youth & Sports Development Officers

    Job Details

    • Heads the technical wing of the department of sports in the sub-county;
    • Implementation of sports programmes within the sub-county;
    • Create awareness to the public in the sub-county on sports career paths and development;
    • Monitoring and evaluation of sports development programmes in the subcounty;
    • Development of sub-county sports policies, rules and regulations governing the operations of the department;

    Culture, Arts & Heritage Assistant Director

    Job Details

    • Provide strategic leadership and administration on all matters concerning culture, arts and heritage;
    • Monitoring and evaluating the effective implementation of national and local laws and policies on culture, arts and heritage in the county;
    • Plan, implement, monitor the development culture, arts and heritage; such as art centres, museums etc;
    • Oversee the interpretation and implementation of culture, arts and heritage related policies, as well as development of regulations in line with county and national legislations;

    Qualifications

    • Be a holder of a degree in any of the following Disciplines; Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, History, Philosophy, Archaeology, Creative arts, Theatre Arts, Music, Fine Art, Kiswahili and literary studies, Political science, psychology, indigenous language or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
    • A Master’s degree in the relevant field will be an added advantage;

    • Participate in the training of EYE trainees at the center;

    Weights & Measures Officer

    An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of an experienced officer. Specific duties and responsibilities will entail

    • Testing and stamping mechanical and electronic weighing and measuring equipment;
    • Collecting data on verified equipment at trader’s premises, stamping stations and verification office;
    • Sampling pre-packaged goods for quantitative analysis;
    • Preparing testing equipment for inspection and investigation purposes;
    • Preparing weighing and measuring equipment during trade fairs and exhibitions;
    • Giving evidence in court on cases arising from infringement of the Weights and Measures Act (Cap 513) and Trade Descriptions Act (Cap 505);
