    Social Media Manager

    The position: The Social Media Manager supports Busara’s Communications division from its headquarters in Nairobi. This is a position that requires capability in digital marketing and communication to advance Busara’s brand and support the rapid growth and project mix at Busara.

    The Social Media Manager is our digital point person and will enhance Busara’s brand and reputation by; communicating our work in an authentic way that will attract and grow our client base, track and keep our touchpoints relevant for both internal and external clients.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Detail a clear digital plan of action with steps, milestones, deliverables and dates to track communication efforts
    • Develop relevant content topics and strategies to build brand awareness and our online reputation
    • Map out how the digital value chain can transform the market we operate in and have a desire to deepen our social media engagement
    • Create and implement a regular publishing schedule and content calendar to promote and manage content
    • Inform planning of specific and timely marketing campaigns through social advertising

    Senior Design Officer

    The position: The Senior Design Officer supports Busara’s new Communications division from its headquarters in Nairobi. This is a position that cuts across all divisions at Busara and requires capability in design, execution of projects and time management. Compelling design including graphic design, web and mobile design and design for printed products are all necessary to support the rapid growth and project mix at Busara. With up to 40 ongoing projects within the organisation at once, there are a wide variety of design challenges and design needs, from developing collateral for a product intervention, to creating comprehensive editorial reports, to developing a culture of design-thinking at Busara.

    The Senior Design Officer is responsible for completing all design-focused projects with a critical and rigorous eye for detail. As our organisation spans across a wide range of sectors and disciplines, from highly academic lab experiments to strategic consulting for pan-African corporations, our communications must be as flexible and far reaching as our work.

    Core Responsibilities

    The Senior Design Officer will enhance Busara’s outreach and reputation through compelling and beautiful design for both internal and external projects. More specifically, the deliverables of the Senior Design Officer will likely include (not exclusively):

    • Editorial Design (Reports/Proposals)
    • Meet with clients/internal team to determine scopes of projects
    • Liaise with the rest of the team in execution of deliverables

    Senior UI / UX Designer

    The position: The Digital Designer supports Busara’s new Communications division from its headquarters in Nairobi. This is a position that cuts across all divisions at Busara and requires capability in user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design of our various digital assets. The Digital Designer will ensure that all elements on our digital platforms are optimized for improved usability, readability, engagement, relevance and exceptional visual design. With frequent ongoing projects within the organisation at once, there are a wide variety of digital design challenges and design needs. These range from optimizing mobile application interfaces, designing digital products for testing and / or data collection, developing client-facing content platforms, to developing a culture of design-thinking at Busara.

    The Digital Designer is responsible for delivering adaptive and creative solutions to UI/UX design problems by staying up to date with best practices and emerging trends in user experience design and user interface technology as well as enhance Busara’s outreach and reputation through compelling and beautiful design for both internal and external projects.

    Core Responsibilities

    The deliverables of the Digital Designer will more specifically, include (not exclusively):

    • Investigating user experience design requirements for our suite of digital assets.
    • Developing and conceptualizing a comprehensive UI/UX design strategy for the brand.
    • Producing high quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes.
    • Designing UI elements and tools such as navigation menus, search boxes, tabs, and widgets for our digital assets.

    Editorial Lead

    The position: The Editorial Lead supports Busara’s new Communications division from its headquarters in Nairobi and is responsible for ensuring that a proposal concept or draft turns into a fully formed, professional proposal that is 100% ready to be sent to an external client, funder, or partner.

    With a team of Engagement Directors constantly bringing new opportunities into the pipeline, we need an Editorial Lead who can work with the projects division to quickly turn a concept outline into a fully formed, well-written proposal to a funder, corporate client, or partner. You will do this by understanding our clients and engaging them through crafting context specific proposals as well as by applying professional rigor and communication expertise.

    Role Description

    Below we outline core responsibilities of an Editorial Lead:

    • Write proposals, owning the quality, content flow, use of language, tone of voice, clarity of information, spelling, and grammar
    • Read and process Request For Proposals (RFP’s) to completion, collaborate with internal experts and projects team providing information for the proposal
    • Build, communicate and execute identified proposals, working with internal subject matter experts to complete each proposal
    • Research and scope out RFP’s to ensure you understand client need as well as inform and add value to the expected end result
    • Plan and prioritize work to self-manage multiple projects
    • Adapt writing style to fit with requirements/audience and ensure what you write is correct and conveys the intended message as clearly as possible
