Finance Manager Responsibilities

Hawkins Associates seeks to recruit a Finance Manager who will be reporting to the Chief Manager, Finance and Administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial and accounting services to the Commission to enable management make sound corporate decisions. Other key responsibilities will include:-

• Budget preparation/cash flow management review to ensure sustainability and giving strategic advice to board/senior management.
• Manage reporting of financial statements/performance to board/senior management.
• Strategic Planning and Implementation.
• Participate in various Management Committees.
• Provide leadership, maintains discipline, trains and appraises staff in the team.
• Motivate and nurture the department to achieve excellence in capability to achieve overall objectives.
• Lead the department by budgeting, planning and directing resources to achieve targets and objectives.
• Supervise the development, implementation and management of finance policies.
• Ensure performance measures are designed to evaluate performance against the strategic plan.
• Ensure reporting on work done into the reporting structures in the Institution on a monthly; quarterly or annual basis.
• Formulation and implementation of sound financial management and accounting policies, procedures and systems that ensure effective control and accountability for the Commission’s resources;
• Formulation and implementation of an effective system of internal control that adheres to the Commission’s policies and procedures;
• Ensuring the Commission’s assets and liabilities are safeguarded and recorded correctly;
• Liaising and following up with the Treasury on the Commission’s financial requirements;
• Maintenance of an optimum level of working capital in the Commission;
• Preparation of budgets, accurate financial statements and management reports in line with performance contract reporting requirements and other statutory requirements;
• Overseeing timely preparation and payment of tax and other statutory deductions;
• Overseeing proper management of receipts and payments in the Commission;
• Liaising with external auditors; and
• Overseeing custody and control of accountable documents.

Qualifications for Finance Manager

• A Master’s degree in Finance or its equivalent from a recognized university;
• A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or its equivalent from a recognized university;
• A CPA(K)/ACCA or equivalent qualification and membership of relevant professional bodies;
• At least nine (9) years’ progressive experience in finance and accounting, with a minimum of 3 years experience at managerial level;
• Posses good budget development and oversight experience.
