    Principal Scientist, Registration, Accreditation And Quality Assurance

    REF:PSRAQA/11 /2/2017

    The Principal Scientist will be the head of Accreditation and Quality Assurance Section and will be directly reporting to the Chief Scientist of Registration, Accreditation and Quality Assurance.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    i. Develop and review Accreditation Standards;
    ii. Determining eligibility for Accreditation as set out in the accreditation criteria;
    iii. Evaluating accredited research institutions for compliance;
    iv. Vetting of applications for accreditation;
    v. Carry out inspection for Quality Assurance;
    vi. Updating and maintenance of an accurate database for accredited institutions and bodies;
    vii. Ensuring that quality assurance policies, processes and procedures are fully integrated into the accreditation process;
    viii. Making recommendations for the accreditation of institutions and bodies in accordance with the established criteria;
    ix. Recommending cancellation of accreditation in the event of non-compliance;
    x. Sensitizing stakeholders on accreditation requirement and processes;

    Qualifications, Competencies and Experience required for appointment to this position:

    PhD degree in relevant field of specialization plus three (3) years post-doctoral research experience in accreditation and quality assurance.
    OR
    Served as Senior Scientist or a minimum of three (3) years and demonstrated a high standard of competence and administrative ability in research, science, and technology policies, control and coordination of activities of the relevant field of accreditation and quality assurance.

    i. Scientific writing and publishing;
    ii. Proficiency in statistical analysis;
    iii. ICT proficiency;
    iv. Excellent Interpersonal skills and communication;
    v. Policy analysis;
    vi. Strategic planning;
