Duma Works is recruiting an Operations Associate for Kipato Unbranded.

Kipato Unbranded is a social enterprise that collaborates with local artists, promoting their talents and skills and giving them access to markets.

Kipato Unbranded is about beauty and unique designs. They create jewelry that is inspired by everyday people and for everyday people. Their pieces are made from local materials that include brass, recycled bone, and beads.

Kipato Unbranded is about simplicity, accessibility and empowerment.

The company isentering into a new stage with Kipato Unbranded, and the individual will be absolutely essential to making sure Kipato Unbranded is a success. They need someone that is willing to work flexibly (to be comfortable working from home and in an office).

He/she should be committed to social justice, having experience working for social enterprises previously, and is familiar with the start-up environment.

He/she should have the knowledge and understands the East African market for fashion and their customer base.

The Operations Manager is responsible for improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of the social enterprise.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead on planning the scope of work
• Contribute to deliverables and objectives set out by the social enterprise
• Recruitment and training of new staff
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities
• Oversee accounting and social enterprise expenses
• Manage an Operations Assistant and a team of Brand Activators
• Oversee budget expenditure
• Coordinate and manage external events and promotions
• Manage retailers and wholesalers, nationally and internationally
• Manage domestic and international orders
• Represent Kipato Unbranded in external engagements and media opportunities.

Requirements

• Applicant must have the right to work in Kenya. We are looking for a self-driven individual who is looking to gain experience and is ready is learn and grow with a fast-paced business that is expanding internationally.
• Undergraduate degree (min. 4 year degree) – within the Social Sciences (ideally Business Administration and/or Marketing)
• At least 2 years of work experience (could be done during or after university as long as it is relevant)
• Experience with operations in the retail sector
• Flexibility around working with a start-up and working remotely
