Job description

Responsibilities and Duties

• Gather, write and produce material in fair, accurate and balanced manner
• Cover sports on-air and on other platforms as assigned
• Reporting in the field
• Create, report and help produce specials and packages
• Establish sources and build a strong list of story ideas on a year-round basis
• Develop and maintain a network of news sources providing access to exclusive stories
• Provide on-air support to other productions as required

Educational Background and Experience

• Bachelor degrees or above, communications/journalism preferred
• Minimum 5 years TV news reporting/editing
• Maintain excellent oral and written communication skills
• Possess an understanding of and appreciation for a multi-national, multi-cultural work environment
• Keen interest in African sports news
• High-level reporting skills
• Self-starter, able to generate coverage ideas
• Capable of packaging and live reporting

• Clear broadcast voice
• Excellent news judgment
• Strong live reporting skills
• Strong storytelling skills
• Ability to ad-lib effortlessly in various types of situations, particularly breaking news
• Excellent writing skills

• Team player who can also work independently
• High degree of integrity and professionalism
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays or overnights as required
