Principal Assistant Livestock Production Officer at Public Service Commission Kenya (PSCK)

Job Requirements

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

• Served for nine (9) years cumulative service three (3) of which must have been in the grade of Chief Assistant Livestock Production Officer/Senior Assistant Livestock Production Officer, Job Group ‘M’/’L’.
• Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Animal Health and Production, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Science and Technology, Agribusiness, Animal Production, Farm Management, Range Management or Natural Resource Management from recognized institution.
• Certificate in Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
• Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution; and
• Demonstrated merit and ability in work performance and results.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-

• Coordinating farm visits, practical demonstrations, field days, farmer training and agricultural shows
• Providing livestock production technologies and techniques and extension services to livestock farmers
• Preparing livestock production reports
• Analyzing livestock inputs and products and samples
• Coordinating the dissemination of livestock production information
• Overseeing the implementation of livestock production programmes/ project
• Coordinating range planning , management, and conservation
• Ensuring provision of holding grounds services to the livestock traders
• Overseeing effective and efficient management and preparing work plans and budget for either sheep and goat station, livestock farm, mobile pastoral training unit, or livestock improvement and multiplication farm
• Maintaining inventory of assets in a livestock production station/farm.
