    Income Generation Officer

    Location: Bisil Project Office (Kajiado County)

    Employment Period: 1 year renewable  

    Employee Category: Fixed Term Contract

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop income generation programs for households:
      • Research and design household income generation activities appropriate with actual situation of the project area;
      • Mobilize and register income generation groups (IGGs) and co-operatives as basic units for project implementation
      • Promote and develop operations in collaboration with local partners and stakeholders for income generation in the project area;
    • Facilitate implementation of income generation activities:
      • Carry out survey to establish new IGGs and co-operatives in project area
      • Support IGGs, cooperatives to develop strong constitutions, operational structures and cost effective business plans
      • Guide registration procedures, document preparation of newly registered IGGs and co-operatives
      • Regularly monitor and supervise operations of all IGGs, cooperatives; Collect feedback and check information received, support and promote activities of the IGGs
      • Regularly visit and monitor use of loan given out by CDC as Revolving Fund (RF) and ensure that the loans are used for the right purpose and repayment regulations are adhered to by the IGG members.
      • Support IGGs and co-operatives in the process of developing business plans and submit to CDC for approval and refinancing
      • Support IGGs, households and other beneficiaries in implementing activities timely and effectively;
      • Provide technical assistance to IGGs, cooperatives, households in making production decisions – business plans, financial management plans when needed;
      • Coordinate with the CDCs (Community Development Committees), local authorities, group management committees and co-operative board of management to ensure prompt revolving fund repayment
      • Assist the CDC to ensure proper management of the revolving fund
      • Participate in preparation of POA (Plan of Action) for Income generation;
      • Assist IGGs and Co-operatives in establishing stable and reliable marketing channels for their products
      • Deliver IG development policies, programs or projects from HO (Head Office) to target beneficiaries;
      • Record, track, store documents and data related to the IG activities; participate in evaluating the effectiveness, results of operations, report to project managers and IGD Manager
      • Provide technical assistance in the management of the community Warehouses
      • Do other tasks as assigned by Project manager and the IGD Manager.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized public university in the following relevant fields: Agribusiness, Crop production, Agricultural economics, Animal production, community development and other relevant fields
    • At least 5 years working experience in the development of projects related to income generation groups and agricultural cooperatives
    • Experience working with other NGOs or KOICA funded projects or other government subsidy funded project such as USAID, UKAID, SIDA, JICA is strongly added advantage.
    • Must have the ability to work independently and work with teams;
    • Must have the ability to work under pressure;
    • Good Communication and interpersonal skill with community people
    • Good organizing skills and interpersonal skills;
    • Good skill in computer use: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Basic written and spoken English skill.
    • Sociable, responsive and committed.
    • Must be accountable and transparent
