    Learning Manager

    Role Description:

    We are looking for a dynamic Learning Manager to work closely with the Executive Director and Program Managers. This role will evaluate and ensure GMin’s program meets the needs of the organization. It will also develop and expand the curricula based on the needs of the country through rigorous impact assessment and design and implementation of sustainable curricula. The Learning Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and Board to assess and document GMin’s impact and design an ongoing M&E plan. Our team has prototyped a series of youth education programs in Kenya, Sierra Leone and South Africa over the last 6 years. The Learning Manager will take us to the next level with our curricula and impact assessment activities. They will develop strategies that support efforts to streamline, systematize and formalize the delivery of our core youth learning initiatives to prepare for scale.

    Responsibilities:

    Curriculum Design, Improvement and Development

    • Evaluate the effectiveness of the current curricula as per the organization’s needs and make improvement where necessary
    • Develop new core curricula focused on introducing design thinking, entrepreneurship, STEM competencies and 21st century skills aligned with Kenya’s competency-based curriculum approach
    • Work with students, educators and program manager to evaluate existing curricula and assess the quality of instruction.
    • Conduct research and make recommendations to the organization

    Monitoring & Evaluation:

    • With Program Managers, review and enhance existing M&E strategy to support ongoing assessment of current curricula
    • Develop M&E standard operating procedures, record and collect monitoring and evaluation data and document impact for new curricula that could be adopted for all curricula and modules moving forward
    • Design implementation plan for M&E strategy including but not limited to a) standard documentation for ongoing monitoring and evaluation, b) standard documentation for reports, as well as c) recommendations for how M&E findings can support fundraising and marketing efforts.
    • Train GMin program staff, interns and volunteers on how to conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation efforts according to M&E implementation strategy

    Qualifications:

    • +5 years of relevant experience
    • Demonstrated success with curriculum development and/or training
    • Ability to perform all phases of curriculum development (research, planning, writing, organizing, managing, review cycles)
    • In-depth understanding of competency-based learning
    • Demonstrated experience in Monitoring and Evaluation in the education sector
    • Must have a strong understanding of M&E strategy and processes
    • Experience with and interest in working with African youth
    • Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and excellent writing skills are essential to this position
