• Our company is well established in the transport and logistics industry and is seeking to fill the position of Accountant within the organization. 
• The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining a system of internal controls, coordinating and managing general accounting functions, business processes, accuracy and maintenance of the ledger accounts, reconciling account balances, and the resultant financial statements. 

The duties and responsibilities are as follows;-

• Financial accounting and reporting – Ensure timely preparation of accounts and all reports. Ensuring the monthly billing cycle is closed on time.
• Bank management - Preparation of monthly bank reconciliation and daily liaison with the bank;
• Develop and implement internal controls so as to ensure compliance to policies and procedures and safeguarding the assets;
• Ensure accurate computation, payment and submission of taxes and statutory returns; 
• Responding to rates enquiries for existing and potential customers. 
• Analysing Operational data and recommending cost containment and cost cutting measures;
• Creating and submission of business analysis reports and making recommendations for continuous business improvement;
• Reconciling customer and supplier accounts;
• Liaising with operations department to ensure processes surrounding tyre and fuel management are enforced;
• Ensuring all statutory payments and returns are submitted on time;
• Ensuring that all billing is done accurately and in a timely manner, reconciling debtor accounts and following up on payments;
• Managing subcontractor accounts and ensuring that the accounts are reconciled in a timely manner;
• Facilitating the Audit process, preparing audit schedules and liaising with the external auditors to ensue the audit cycle is smooth;
• Liaising and supporting all departments in preparation of budgets;
• Ensuring that laid down procurement guidelines and processes are adhered to

Academic & Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance;
• A qualified (Full) accountant with CPA or ACCA professional qualification
• Proficiency in integrated accounting systems (quick books) and MS office applications
• A minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience. Experience within the transport and logistics sector is preferred ;

The ideal candidate must be willing to be work across cross functional departments i.e Operations department to ensure optimization of the value chain. He/She also must have:
