Agriculture Superintendents - 2 Posts at SonySugar Limited

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

• Producing accurate monthly cane position;
• Planning farmers’ contracting and cane development to meet factory requirements;
• Ensuring adherence to farmers’ contracting procedures/policies;
• Ensuring effective extension services to farmers;
• Ensuring that adherence to Good Agricultural Practices both in the Nucleus Estate and Outgrowers.
• Ensuring establishment and maintenance of trials as per proven experimental designs and budget;
• Analyzing of sugarcane production/productivity parameters;
• Carrying out cane maturity analysis;
• Ensuring that meteorological data are accurately collected, documented, and properly interpreted;
• Ensuring proper analysis and interpretation of laboratory results;
• Planning for adequate laboratory reagents and other inputs;
• Preparing effective cane harvesting program;
• Implementing cane harvesting and transport plans
• Recruiting and supervising of cane maintenance contractors;
• Ensuring proper dosing of farm chemicals and inputs
• Ensuring proper servicing of light farm equipment/instruments and apparatus
• Initiating calibration process of farm equipment, instruments where applicable

Person Specification /Requirement:

• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: General Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Engineering, Agribusiness Management, Agriculture Extension and Education or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Five (5) years relevant work experience
• Computer Literacy
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
