Application Support Specialist at Procept Associates Professional Services Limited (Procept Africa)

• Procept is recruiting to fill the position of Application Support Specialist, who has Linux, Datawarehousing (ETL/java / python/ bash scripting), Oracle, and Storage system skills. The idea candidate must have knowledge of ITIL/Agile, Fintech Awareness, and at least 3-5 years Application support experience.
• The Application Support Specialist will provide essential support to our partners’ business operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of IT services and systems.

Job Description

• Provide technical support for business-critical applications, ensuring timely resolution of issues and incidents.
• Utilize expertise in Linux, Datawarehousing, Oracle, and Storage systems to troubleshoot and resolve application-related problems.
• Support ETL processes and data warehousing operations, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and availability.
• Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to optimize data workflows and performance.
• Develop and maintain scripts using Java, Python, and Bash scripting to automate routine tasks and streamline processes.
• Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address potential issues.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks on applications and databases, including patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Ensure adherence to best practices and standards in application management and support.
• Log, track, and prioritize support tickets and incidents, following established ITIL processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve escalated issues and minimize service disruptions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of support activities, including troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and system configurations.
• Generate reports on application performance, incident trends, and support metrics as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in application support, with expertise in Linux, Datawarehousing (ETL/Java/Python/Bash Scripting), Oracle, and Storage systems.
• Strong understanding of ITIL/Agile methodologies and their application in support processes.
• Knowledge in Fintech and understanding of financial technologies and applications.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
