    Biomedical Sciences Intern

    KEMRI CBRD Molecular Entomology and Ecology Laboratory is seeking to recruit an

    Required qualifications:

    Must have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Applied Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

    In addition, the applicants must:

    1. Be a Kenyan youth below 30 years of age
    2. Should have graduated and obtained the relevant final certificate
    3. Provide a Certificate of good conduct

    Personal Attributes

    1. Should possess interpersonal and communication skills
    2. Must be goal oriented, dynamic, passionate and self-starter
    3. A person of integrity
    4. Should possess strong analytical skills
    5. Must be computer literate.

    The Intern will be trained on the following areas:

    1. Insectary management and maintenance of mosquito colonies
    2. Conducting insecticide susceptibility assays following WHO guidelines
    3. Labeling and cataloging collected specimens
    4. Processing of specimens according to the specified Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
    5. Disinfection, washing and sterilization of apparatus
    6. Preparation of reagents

    The Institute WILL NOT offer employment after the completion of the program.

    A monthly stipend of Ksh. 25,000.00 and a supplementary allowance of Ksh. 5,000 per month will be provided.

    Interns will be expected to take up a personal accident cover and medical Insurance cover.
