    Business Analyst - Corporate International Banking

    Purpose:

    Reporting to the Portfolio Lead and operating within the set policies, guidelines and regulations, the incumbent will be assisting the Relationship Managers in disbursement, maintaining and growing of the commercial banking customer portfolio within the related business segment. The incumbent will also be required to analyse corporate credit proposals, recommend client requests and prepare Early Alert/Watchlist reviews.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct thorough analysis of proposals and assess the risks and impact from both the client’s and bank’s perspectives
    • Prepare credit proposals and recommendations together with the Relationship Manager in accordance with the Bank’s policies, guidelines and regulatory frameworks’ requirements
    • Support the Relationship Managers in reviewing reports on existing asset quality and collateral securing credit facilities
    • Analyse industry trends, competition moves and market profile
    • Develop effective working relationships with internal & external stakeholders for service standards
    • Prepare reports for Management as and when required
    • Monitor existing accounts to identify emerging credit concerns / warning signs
    • Ensure high level of service standards including high level of ethics and integrity in line with SBM values
    • Coordinate the closing of credit applications in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures
    • Prepare Early Alert / Watchlist reviews, whilst ensuring compliance to the general banking guidelines / regulations as set by the Bank of Mauritius

    Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

    • University degree in Finance / Accounting / Economics or any other relevant field
    • At least 2 years’ experience in the financial field (applicants with Financial Audit experience will be considered)
    • Thorough understanding of corporate banking products, commercial loan processing, documentation experience (interpretation of credit terms) and familiarity with Basel guidelines will be a definite advantage
    • Understanding of capital rules and local regulatory landscape with regards to corporate lending practices
    • Excellent analytical and technical skills with high attention to details
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
    • Solution oriented
    • High level of integrity and professionalism
