Duties and responsibilities

• Direct and watch over a team of rodmen so that there is a smooth transfer of collected information.
• Handle different ways of communication to update the surveying team on the latest and relevant survey data.
• Identify and monitor on-site safety.
• Maintain safe usage of surveying tools.
• Note accurate area measurements to make sure conditions are suitable for the project.
• Plan daily work to keep a safe work environment.
• Record required data used in the construction project to help with accurate data collection.
• Use a meter to make sure that elevation is measured accurately. Use basic computer processes for data entry and analysis. Chainman Requirements
• Reporting to the superintending engineer structural/civil

Requirements for Appointment;

• Certificate in Survey and Mapping or a related course from a recognized institution
• Ability to read and comprehend survey plans.
• Ability to perform basic survey calculations.
• Ability to use survey instruments (GPS and total station)
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
