Consultant Accountant at Buni Banda

• The Consultant Accountant will provide financial expertise and ensure the effective financial management of the NGO project. The role involves budgeting, financial reporting, compliance with donor requirements, and capacity-building support for the team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage project budgets in collaboration with project stakeholders.
• Provide accurate and timely financial forecasts and analyze variances.
• Prepare regular financial reports for internal stakeholders and donors, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reporting timelines.
• Consolidate and analyze financial data to inform decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, donor guidelines, and the organization’s internal policies.
• Prepare for and support external and internal audits, addressing audit findings and implementing recommendations.
• Oversee the recording of financial transactions in line with accounting standards.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
• Monitor cash flow and manage funds effectively.
• Provide training and capacity-building support to project staff on financial management and compliance.
• Advise project leadership on financial risks and opportunities.
• Assess and recommend improvements to financial systems and processes.
• Support the implementation of accounting software or tools to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in financial management, preferably in an NGO or donor-funded environment.
