County Solicitor (1 Post) at Kisii County Government

​​​​​Requirements and competencies for appointment:

• Be a Kenyan Citizen
• Be a holder of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized University
• Holder of a Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law;
• Holds a valid practicing certificate;
• At least five years' experience as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
• Proficiency in computer skills will be an added advantage
• Be a member of Law Society of Kenya and in good standing; and
• Meets the requirements of Chapter six of Constitution.

Duties and Responsibilities

• The County Solicitor shall be the principal assistant of the County Attorney in the execution of the functions of the County Attorney under the Office of the County Attorney Act; and any other written Law.
• On the General instructions of the County Attorney, represent the County Executive in Court or in other legal proceeding to which the County Executive is a party, other than criminal proceedings’
• On delegation by County Attorney, Advise departments in the County Executive on legislative and other legal matters;
• On the general instructions of the County Attorney, Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and Agreements for and on behalf of the County Executive and its agencies.
• Undertaking legal research and proving sound advisory brief on legal matters to the County Government.
• Assist in drafting of pleadings on behalf of the County Attorney;
• Support in drafting and Publication of legislative proposals for the County Government;
• May perform of an accounting officer in the office of the County attorney
• Carry out administrative duties that may be delegated.
• Performing any other duty as may be assigned.
